Optimal Runes for Warrior DPS – Phase 8
Helm Rune | Details |
---|---|
Endless Rage (Requires Warrior, Requires level 1) | Gain the Endless Rage ability: You generate 25% more Rage from all damage you deal. [Endless Rage] is a straightforward rune, enhancing the Rage generated from your damage output. This is particularly beneficial when facing high heat levels in Molten Core (MC), as you might need to prioritize resistance over aggressive gear, impacting your rage generation. |
Taste for Blood (Requires Warrior, Requires level 1) | Gain the Taste for Blood ability: Whenever your Rend ability causes damage, your Overpower ability will activate for 9 seconds or 1 attack. This effect will not occur more than once every 6 seconds. [Taste for Blood] is frequently used with builds incorporating Blood Frenzy, providing additional incentives to use Rend in PvE scenarios. |
These runes enhance your Warrior’s capabilities by optimizing rage generation and synergizing with specific abilities, making them invaluable for maximizing damage potential in various combat situations.
Bracer Rune
Wrecking Crew | Requires Warrior | |
Your melee critical hits Enrage you (activating abilities which require being Enraged), and increase Mortal Strike, Bloodthirst, and Shield Slam damage by 10% for 12 seconds. | ||
The Wrecking Crew might be more effective if it impacted additional abilities beyond just Bloodthirst. However, since a solid method of becoming enraged is already available through Consumed by Rage, adding another enrage source is redundant and could interfere with a powerful cooldown rune that also occupies the bracer slot. | ||
Rampage | Instant | 1.5 min cooldown |
Requires Warrior, Requires level 1 | ||
Go on a rampage, increasing your attack power by 15% for 30 seconds. This ability can only be used while Enraged. | ||
Rampage has been adjusted to offer a more burst-oriented alternative to Wrecking Crew. However, its requirement for a global cooldown can make its synchronization with other cooldowns challenging, which may lead to a somewhat awkward experience. |
Chest Rune
Blood Frenzy | Requires Mage | Requires level 1 | |
Gain the Blood Frenzy ability: Rend can now be used in Berserker stance, Rend’s damage is increased by 100%, and Rend deals additional damage equal to 4% of your Attack Power each time it deals damage. | |||
Blood Frenzy has undergone a significant rework, emerging as a surprisingly effective option that closely rivals Raging Blow in terms of damage output. However, mastering its use may require more complexity, and it can occasionally lag slightly behind its alternative. | |||
Raging Blow | Melee Range | Instant | 8 sec cooldown |
Requires Warrior | Requires level 1 | Requires Melee Weapon | |
A ferocious strike that deals 115% weapon damage, but can only be used while Enrage, Berserker Rage, or Bloodrage is active. Each other melee ability used while Enrage, Berserker Rage, or Bloodrage is active reduces Raging Blow’s remaining cooldown by 1 sec. | |||
With the adjustments to both Enrage uptime and Raging Blow itself in Phase 4, it has become a top-tier choice. Although it holds a low priority in our rotation, it stands as a more damage-effective alternative to hamstring when other major abilities are on cooldown, as well as a rage-free option when our rage is low. |
Glove Rune
**Single-Minded Fury**: This ability requires a Mage at level 1 and allows for increased movement speed by 10% while dual-wielding. Additionally, it grants a 4% attack speed bonus each time your melee auto-attack hits the same target consecutively, stacking up to five times. This effect persists for 10 seconds or until your auto-attack strikes a different target. Despite some notable nerfs and changes in Phase 4, where continuous target attacks are necessary to maximize the rune’s capability, Single-Minded Fury still stands as a potent option. The boost in attack speed and movement speed are valuable assets for DPS warriors. Consider selling your services or boosting your gameplay with this ability through our dungeon services.
**Quick Strike**: This ability also requires a Mage at level 1 and enables a reckless instant melee attack with your two-handed weapon. It deals physical damage calculated as (Attack power * 30 / 100) to (Attack power * 40 / 100). Quick Strike benefits from and triggers all effects associated with Heroic Strike. It is the favored rune for most two-handed weapon-focused builds, providing an additional ability that significantly outdamages Hamstring as a filler global. Enhance your performance with raid services for an edge in combat.
Legs Rune | Details |
---|---|
Consumed by RageRequires Mage |
Gain the Consumed by Rage ability: Enrages you (activating abilities which require being Enraged) for 12 seconds after you exceed 60 Rage. Additionally, Whirlwind also strikes with off-hand melee weapons while you are Enraged.
The Consumed by Rage rune has undergone numerous updates throughout its lifetime in SoD, ultimately evolving into its current form. Both aspects of the rune are crucial – the whirlwind adjustment enhances the significance of our offhand weapon in terms of damage output and significantly boosts our AoE capabilities. Moreover, the enrage activation at 60 rage, instead of 80, offers more frequent opportunities to naturally become enraged. |
Frenzied AssaultRequires Mage |
Gain the Frenzied Assault ability: While wielding 2-handed weapons, your attack speed increases by 40%, and your successful melee hits generate 2 additional Rage, or 4 additional Rage if they are critical hits.
The Frenzied Assault rune is favored for most 2H focused builds, providing essential extra rage generation along with increased attack speed to effectively utilize it. |
Belt Rune
Precise Timing | Requires Warrior |
Slam is now instant but has a 6 sec cooldown. | |
Precise Timing transforms Slam from a cast-time ability into a slightly less powerful version of Mortal Strike. Although this might seem unappealing initially, one must consider Slam’s remarkable efficiency. It delivers damage nearly comparable to Mortal Strike while consuming only half the rage! This characteristic makes it an excellent choice for any Arms specialization wielding a slow, potent weapon, offering additional combat options beyond Mortal Strike and Whirlwind. |
Blood Surge | Requires Warrior |
Heroic Strike, Bloodthirst, and Whirlwind have a 30% chance to make your next Slam within 15 sec instant, strike with both melee weapons, and cost no Rage. (Proc chance: 30%) | |
Blood Surge was initially introduced in WotLK and makes a comeback in SoD, offering the potential for an instant cast Slam each time you land a hit with Whirlwind, Bloodthirst, or Heroic Strike. While it may appear less effective than Precise Timing for 2H Fury-oriented builds, the frequency of Heroic Strike usage, combined with the free rage cost when using Frenzied Assault, enhances its potency significantly. |
Boots Rune | Gladiator Stance | Instant | 1 sec cooldown | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Requires Warrior | An aggressive stance that boosts damage by 10% when using a shield and increases block chance by 10%. However, it reduces armor by 30% and threat generated by 30%. Additionally, if your auto-attack strikes an enemy that isn’t targeting you, you gain 50% more Rage. While in Gladiator Stance with a shield, you can use all abilities normally restricted to other stances. | |||
Gladiator Stance is a popular rune inspired by the Warlords of Draenor talent, enabling players to be effective in DPS roles while wielding a shield. Despite reduced survivability, it is applicable in both DPS and Tank scenarios. For DPS, the increased damage modifiers, combined with the power of Deep Wounds, support a straightforward build focused on maximizing Deep Wounds. Although this is the sole DPS option for the boot slot, it is favored by those utilizing the Gladiator Stance build. |
Cloak Rune
Sudden Death Requires Warrior Requires level 1 |
Gain the Fresh Meat ability: Your melee hits have a 10% chance to grant Sudden Death. Sudden Death allows one use of Execute regardless of the target’s health state. When Execute is enabled by Sudden Death, you will retain 10 rage after using Execute. |
Sudden Death is a talent that has been repurposed as a rune. However, due to Execute’s limited scaling in SoD compared to other abilities, this rune is currently not utilized in any form of content. |
Fresh Meat Requires Warrior Requires level 1 |
Gain the Fresh Meat ability: Damaging a target with Bloodthirst, Mortal Strike, or Shield Slam has a 100% chance the first time and a 10% chance each subsequent time to Enrage you (activating abilities that require being Enraged), causing you to deal 10% increased Physical damage for 12 seconds. |
Fresh Meat serves as an alternative to the potent Sudden Death rune and is currently preferred significantly over it. It is notably more straightforward and less cumbersome than Sudden Death and is much easier to play with since Sudden Death can often lead to rage starvation for the user. |
