Gate of the Setting Sun Heroic Dungeon Guide (WoD 6.1.2)

Introduction

The Gate of the Setting Sun is a 5-man dungeon located between the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and the Dread Wastes on Pandaria. This level 90 dungeon features four encounters:

• Saboteur Kip’tilak
• Striker Ga’dok
• Commander Ri’mok
• Raigonn

The dungeon follows a linear progression along the ramparts before descending to ground level to close the gate and stop the Mantid invasion. Available in Normal (89+) and Heroic (90) modes, the main difference in Heroic mode is increased health and damage.

2. Quests

Two quests are available from Bowmistress Li at the dungeon entrance:

3. Boss Strategy

3.1 Saboteur Kip’tilak

• Throws explosive bombs (Stable Munitions) around the room.
• Explosions create fire trails in four directions (North, East, South, West).
• Detonates all bombs at 70% and 30% health.
• Position carefully to avoid chain explosions.

Achievement: Bomberman – Let 15 Stable Munitions be placed before triggering World in Flames.

3.2 Striker Ga’dok

• Strafing Run (at 70% & 30%) covers half the platform in flames.
• Krik’thik Strikers spawn during Strafing Run.
• Drops Acid Bombs creating poison pools.
• Tank should be topped off before Impaling Strike (50% HP hit).

3.3 Commander Ri’mok

• Stacks a buff in poison pools (Viscous Fluid), increasing damage and reducing damage taken.
• Krik’thik Swarmers & Saboteurs add pressure.
• Frenzied Assault – Frontal AoE. Avoid standing in front.
• Keep moving the boss up the ramp to prevent buff stacking.

Achievement: Conscriptinator – Get Resin Residue (3 stacks) from Krik’thik Conscripts.

3.4 Raigonn (Final Boss)

• Phase 1: Break Raigonn’s Carapace to expose his Weak Spot.
• Phase 2: Raigonn fixates on players randomly. Kite him until defeat.
• DPS cooldowns should be saved for breaking the Carapace quickly.

Achievement: Mantid Swarm – Defeat Raigonn without killing any adds.
