Ravenholdt reputation guide

Introduction

The Info Phase

Achieving exalted status with Ravenholdt is an integral part of the Insane in the Membrane achievement. Initially, players start at 0/3000 neutral reputation. Upon completing this achievement, the prestigious title [ the Insane] becomes available for use across all characters.

The reputation grind is divided into two main stages:

  • 0/3000 neutral to 11999/12000 Honored
  • 11999/12000 Honored to Exalted

To progress from neutral to the end of honored status, reputation can be gained in the following ways:

  • By turning in Heavy Junkbox for the quest Junkboxes Needed, where delivering 5 boxes grants 75 reputation.
  • By eliminating members of the Syndicate faction. Their locations can be found here. Each kill awards 5 reputation points.

Upon reaching 11999/12000 Honored, the only way to further your reputation is by completing Junkboxes Needed. It is advisable to conserve your boxes until you reach this stage, when no other options for reputation gain remain.

Exclusive to Rogues

Playing as a Rogue

If you’re adventuring as a Rogue, it’s important to know that the majority of quests in the Fangs of the Father set provide either 75 or 500 reputation points with Ravenholdt. If you haven’t completed them yet, it might be more efficient to tackle the initial set of quests for some straightforward reputation gains. However, it is advisable to only engage in these quests once you’ve reached 11999/12000 Honored status. Completing the entire legendary quest line will result in a total of 3150 reputation points gained. Please note that I have not personally completed the quest line, so I cannot verify these figures. If you have confirmed information, feel free to share it in the comments or send a message.

Keep in mind that all the numbers in this guide assume a 0% additional reputation gain. Towards the end of the guide, you will find updated figures that include 5% and 10% extra reputation gains from guild perks.

The Start of the Grind

Are you aspiring to achieve exalted status with Ravenholdt? Perhaps it’s because you want to earn the prestigious Insane achievement, or maybe you simply can’t resist the allure of having another faction exalted. Regardless of your motivation, this is where your journey begins.

The Easy Part

Embarking on this quest for exaltation starts with a relatively straightforward phase. Here are some tips to help you navigate the initial steps:

  • Focus on completing any available quests that offer reputation gains with Ravenholdt.
  • Take advantage of any bonus reputation events or guild perks that can expedite your progress.
  • Consider teaming up with other players who are on a similar quest to make the grind more enjoyable.

As you progress, keep an eye out for ways to optimize your efforts and maximize your reputation gains. Good luck on your journey to becoming exalted with Ravenholdt!

From Neutral to End of Honored

The journey from neutral to the end of honored is relatively straightforward; your main task is to defeat enemies.

When it comes to targeting syndicate members, one of the most effective locations is Arathi Highlands, particularly in and around Stormgarde Keep. You can find the map here: Arathi Highlands.

The route I followed is depicted in this image:

For players using ranged classes capable of eliminating targets with instant cast abilities, this task will be considerably easier compared to melee fighters or those reliant on spells with casting times. If the area is too populated with other players farming, consider returning later or heading to Northfold Manor instead. Be aware that enemies in Northfold Manor are in stealth mode.

Continue defeating syndicate members until you reach 11999/12000 honored status.

If you possess a Battle Standard of Coordination or another Battle Standard of Coordination, you can strategically plant it in the center of the area. Thanks to its extensive radius, you might discover a perfect spot that encompasses the entire zone.

The (Not So) Easy Part

At this point, you should only need one more reputation point to achieve revered status, so it’s time to proceed further.

If you have a Rogue character at level 20 or higher, now is an excellent opportunity to bring it back into action and make it prove its worth.

  • Level 20 is required to enter Blackrock Spire.
  • However, the higher the level, the better your chances of success.

If you don’t possess a rogue character, consider befriending someone who does, or hiring someone to tackle this part for you. However, let’s assume you already have a rogue at level 20 or higher. Remember, the more advanced your level, the lesser the likelihood of being detected while in stealth mode.

Log into your rogue character and make sure to clear out your inventory by either emptying your bags or purchasing new ones, storing the old ones in the bank. The greater the available space, the quicker the process will unfold. Then, make your way to Blackrock Spire.

When I embarked on this task, I followed a specific route, continuously looping until my bags were filled with boxes.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  • From the entrance, proceed under the bridge.
  • Take the second opening on your right.
  • In the next room, look for an opening on the left.
  • Enter the opening and follow the hallway into a large room. This marks the beginning of the route.

If you’re unfamiliar with the location of Blackrock Spire, you can find it here: .

  • Turn right and descend via the shortcut blocks until you reach the ground level.
  • Proceed right and navigate through the path filled with orcs, spiders, and ogres until you arrive at the boss room.
  • Exit the boss room by turning around. Descend to the ogres and continue downward onto the small bridge where more ogres are located.
  • Pickpocket the ogres in the small room to the west.
  • Exit the room and descend once more. You will find yourself back at the starting point. This time, head north along the path.
  • Eventually, you will enter a large room; ensure you pickpocket everyone there, including those in the smaller room to the west.
  • Ascend the ramp and take a left turn.
  • Pickpocket everyone in this area, including the mobs in the southern boss room.
  • Proceed out the door to the north.
  • Follow the path upward and turn left.
  • Continue along the path until you return to your original starting point.
  • Descend again using the shortcut blocks and repeat the process.

A Visual Roadmap: Navigating My Journey

Important Note

If you happen to get spotted and engaged by an enemy, simply use Vanish. Bear in mind, the more foes you take down, the fewer boxes you can collect per run.

Once you familiarize yourself with this guide, you’ll find it easy to remember the route. For me, a full circuit takes about 8-10 minutes, yielding an average of 20 boxes per round. Don’t worry if your counts vary slightly.

When your inventory is overflowing with Heavy Junkboxes, utilize your Hearthstone or any other teleportation item or spell to return to a location with a mailbox.

  • For Alliance players, set your Hearthstone to Stormwind.
  • For Horde players, set it to New Kargath in Badlands.

Alternatively, you might have access to a mailbox during your journey. Check out “The Many Ways of Mailboxing” for additional options. If you find a convenient mailbox, feel free to use it instead of hearth-stoning.

Once you reach a mailbox, send all your boxes to the character you wish to achieve exalted status with. If your rogue is the one mail-juggling, send them to another alt and have that alt return them for easy storage.

Mailing Tips

Ensure you don’t leave your items in the mailbox for over a month, as they will be deleted.

Continue this process until you have mailed a total of 1405 Heavy Junkboxes. Alternatively, you can turn them in periodically.

The Sweet End

After tirelessly acquiring [Heavy Junkbox] from the same group of foes, you might find yourself pondering why they even bother to carry these items. Yet, such thoughts quickly fade as you realize the end of your journey is in sight!

Begin by sending all your [Heavy Junkbox] to the character you wish to achieve exalted status with. Then, make your way to Hillsbrad Foothills and locate Ravenholdt Manor. For navigation, refer to the map, where you can click to zoom in for better detail and hide pins for a clearer view.

Useful Tip

Having a portable mailbox is extremely beneficial at this stage, and there are several ways to acquire one today:

  • Engineering gadgets
  • Guild perks
  • Special items from events

Each option provides a convenient solution for managing your items on the go, ensuring that the process is as seamless as possible.

Tips, Tricks, and Macros

These tips, tricks, and macros have significantly aided me in both pickpocketing and turning in boxes:

Using Sprint Effectively

To maximize your efficiency in areas where enemies are sparse and there’s no opportunity for pickpocketing, make sure to activate Sprint. This is particularly useful in sections like the spider tunnel, where quick movement is advantageous.

Pickpocketing Macro

Utilize the following macro to streamline the pickpocketing process. Hover your mouse over an enemy and activate the macro to pickpocket them. If the auto loot feature is enabled, the loot window may not appear, which is entirely normal. This macro allows you to rapidly pickpocket one enemy and quickly move to another nearby. Practice the timing to avoid the “That ability is not ready yet” message. For added effectiveness, include a line in the macro to use Burst of Speed, ensuring you maintain a good uptime.

/cast [target=mouseover,exists,harm,nodead] Pick Pocket
/cast Burst of Speed

Turning in Quests Quickly

To efficiently turn in a batch of boxes, right-click on Winstone Wolfe and repeatedly press the following macro three times:

/script SelectGossipAvailableQuest(1); CompleteQuest(); GetQuestReward();

By following these tips and using the provided macros, you can enhance your gameplay experience and improve your overall efficiency.

Efficiently Disposing of Quest Reward Items

To easily get rid of quest reward items without the hassle of selling them, use the following macro multiple times:

“`lua
/run for bag = 0,4,1 do for slot = 1, 32, 1 do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag, slot); if name and string.find(name,”Dusksteel Throwing Knife”) then PickupContainerItem(bag, slot); DeleteCursorItem(); end; end; end
“`

Enhancing Your Grinding Experience

A key tip for making any grind more enjoyable is to watch something on the side while pickpocketing. An effective way is to run WoW in Windowed Mode. Alternatively, consider using an Always on Top utility to keep your entertainment visible.

Remember, speed is crucial. To optimize your pickpocketing, enable auto-loot. Deleting junk becomes much faster when you accumulate 20 of them rather than having to click each time.
