We strive to keep this guide updated with the latest changes and information. Check back regularly to ensure you have the most current gear recommendations.
For Phase 8 of the Season of Discovery, Paladin DPS has four distinct builds:

Holy
– 11 points are dedicated to the Holy tree, focusing on enhancing healing abilities and increasing overall survivability.
Protection
– 8 points are allocated in the Protection tree, aiming to improve defensive capabilities and damage mitigation.
Retribution
– 32 points go to the Retribution tree, maximizing offensive skills and increasing damage output.
Talent Order
When developing your Paladin, it’s crucial to follow a strategic order in allocating your talent points to optimize performance. (2) Set: Increases the damage dealt by your damaging Judgements by 5% and prevents your Judgements from consuming your Seals on the target. Additionally, your Judgements can now activate multiple Seals if they are active. |
(2) Set: When wielding a two-handed weapon, Crusader Strike and Exorcism provide you with Holy Power, boosting all Holy damage you inflict by 10%, and this effect can stack up to three times. |
(4) Set: Divine Storm, Holy Shock, and Holy Wrath utilize all your Holy Power, causing a 100% increase in damage per Holy Power you have accumulated, with 50% effectiveness against player-controlled targets. |
(6) Set: Utilizing Holy Power enhances your Attack Power by 15% for each Holy Power consumed, lasting for 10 seconds. |
Seal Twisting
The Seal Twisting strategy involves using slow two-handed weapons to “twist” two seals – Seal of Command and Seal of Martyrdom. This technique is executed just before attacking, allowing both seals to apply to the melee attack. Following this, a Judgement with both seals is cast immediately after, known as a “double judge.” Between “seal twists,” the build also employs spells like Crusader Strike, Divine Storm, and Exorcism.

Seal Stacking
Seal Stacking is a strategy that utilizes slow two-handed weapons and mirrors the damage profile of twisting. This build leverages the Soul of the Sealbearer shoulder enchant to extend the overlap duration of two seals. This extension reduces the frequency of casting, allowing for more flexibility to use other spells. Additionally, it enables the “double judge” technique, where two seals can be judged simultaneously using Judgement.
This build has regained viability due to the introduction of new shoulder enchantments, such as the Soul of the Sealbearer, which provides an additional set bonus.

Buffs and Shapeshifting
The “Wrath-like” build focuses on using **slow two-handed weapons** and relies on a single seal, differentiating itself from twisting or stacking builds. It employs a priority-based rotation, emphasizing its core abilities: Divine Storm, Crusader Strike, and Exorcism. This approach offers a relaxed playstyle akin to the Retribution Paladin in **Wrath of the Lich King**, serving as the “default” style in many expansions.
This build has traditionally been adequate but slightly less effective compared to others. However, with Phase 8, it now stands on equal footing with most other builds. Often called “Wrath-Lite” or “Mono-Seal,” these setups feature at least **8/8 Sanctified** items for Naxxramas. The Exodin specialization can switch gear to the T3.5 Inquisition 2-set and T3 Redemption 6-set with Phase 8 off-pieces to significantly enhance damage output in Naxxramas. Conversely, other builds gain minimal advantages by altering their best-in-slot gear for Naxxramas, and will be overshadowed by Exodin in that setting.
For a more detailed exploration of each playstyle, please refer to our Paladin DPS Rotation Guide.
Presently, all four builds are viable, with **Seal Twisting** standing out as **~7% to ~9% more potent** than the others, assuming flawless execution without errors and optimal gear. It should be noted that mastering twisting presents a greater challenge. With Phase 8 gear, **Exodin** will excel over every spec in Naxxramas.
In all these builds, the primary priority is achieving the **melee hit chance** and **expertise** cap. Beyond this, increasing **strength/attack power**, **agility/critical strike chance**, and **haste/attack speed** will enhance damage output.
The significance of **weapon speed** cannot be understated, as attack speed, or **”haste,”** is highly valuable, with each build prioritizing it differently. **Seal Twisting** aims for a near 3.0 attack speed without dropping below it, while **Seal Stacking** and **Wrath-like** aim for faster than 3.0 speed. Meanwhile, **Exodin** seeks the fastest possible attack speed to maximize The Art of War procs.
Reducing dodge chance, traditionally known as **”expertise,”** is crucial, as it minimizes the likelihood of attacks being dodged or parried. This is particularly critical for **Paladin DPS**, especially in **Seal Twisting** and **Stacking**, since dodged melee attacks cannot trigger seals or Righteous Vengeance. It also decreases the chance of attacks being parried, though mobs cannot parry attacks from behind.
Expertise Cap
- The expertise cap is set at 6% expertise for players using the +5 weapon skill granted by the Rune of Sword Specialization.
Melee Hit Cap
- With the Precision talent and the +5 weapon skill from a ring rune such as the Rune of Sword Specialization, the melee hit cap is 3% hit chance.
Spell Hit Cap
- The spell hit cap is achieved at a 10% hit chance, which includes the +6% Holy spell hit chance from the Rune of Holy Specialization ring rune.
If you already benefit from weapon skill due to your racial bonus as a Human, consider opting for an alternative ring rune since the bonuses do not stack.
Paladin DPS
builds, particularly those featuring **Exodin**, continue to receive a moderate advantage from hit chance even after reaching the 3% melee hit cap. This is primarily because the spell hit cap is significantly higher, at 10%. Increasing your hit chance enhances the likelihood of successfully landing spells like Exorcism, Consecration, Holy Wrath, and Judgement of Command.
Tier 2 Draconic Token Items
– Gloves
– Belt
– Boots
– Wrists
These four items are now available for purchase using the Tarnished Undermine Real currency.
Sanctified Items
Since **Sanctified** items are unnecessary in the Scarlet Enclave, this guide will not assign any additional value to the **Sanctified** tag. However, if you plan to revisit Naxxramas, keep in mind that these items will hold extra significance for players who have not yet completed their 8/8 set.

Advancing Your Equipment and Set Development
New Raid: Scarlet Enclave
In the latest Phase 8 update, players are introduced to a brand new raid known as the Scarlet Enclave. This marks the first addition of fresh raid content since The Temple of Atal’Hakkar, which was released several months ago.
This raid offers an array of high-level epic items, including the new legendary weapon, the Corrupted Ashbringer. Moreover, it introduces a new tier set known as the Inquisition Warplate, often referred to as Tier 3.5. This set is obtainable through tier tokens dropped within the raid, such as the Consecrated Spaulders.
Additionally, players can acquire tier items by turning in a Crusader’s Chalice, which is available outside the raid from weekly quests involving the Scarlet Junkbox. Completing these quests will also reward players with the associated Scarlet Uniform items, such as the Scarlet Soldier’s Spaulders.
The Inquisition Warplate Tier 3.5 set comes with several notable set bonuses that players should be aware of:
– Set Bonus 1: [Details of the bonus]
– Set Bonus 2: [Details of the bonus]
– Set Bonus 3: [Details of the bonus]
If you’re looking to enhance your raid experience or need assistance in acquiring these new items, consider exploring our raid services for a seamless and rewarding adventure.
2-Set Bonus
– By equipping the 2-set bonus, your abilities Exorcism and Crusader Strike will generate Holy Power. This effect enhances your Holy damage by 10% per stack, allowing for a maximum of three stacks.
4-Set Bonus
– The 4-set bonus significantly boosts your Divine Storm ability, which consumes Holy Power. This enhancement results in 100% additional damage per stack, with the potential to reach up to 300% increased damage.
6-Set Bonus
– With the 6-set bonus, you gain a significant boost in Attack Power, receiving 15% more per stack of Holy Power consumed. This effect lasts for 10 seconds and can increase your Attack Power by up to 45%.
Set Bonus Strategy for Scarlet Enclave
We will avoid using the Tier 3.5 Inquisition 4-set bonus unless it’s paired with the Inquisition 6-set bonus. Using your Holy Power without gaining the +Attack Power buff results in a significant damage loss, regardless of your build.
Almost every Phase 8 raid item from the Scarlet Enclave is also Sanctified, enabling their use in Naxxramas.
The Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus is not beneficial in the Scarlet Enclave. Therefore, it should be replaced before entering this raid. Optimal set combinations for progression differ from your Phase 7 best-in-slot and will be more akin to non-Naxxramas or Spider Wing setups from the previous phase.
The T3 Redemption 2-set remains an excellent choice for many gear setups, especially in slow-weapon builds during Scarlet Enclave progression.
The T2.5 Avenger’s 2-set and the shoulder enchant Soul of the Retributor have been enhanced to 150% Crusader Strike damage, making them highly effective options for the new Scarlet Enclave raid progression.
Although Draconic set bonuses have been weakened, they remain quite valuable for slow weapon builds, particularly the Stack & Twist strategy, during progression. Many of these older set bonuses will be effective for progression and later replaced by the Tier 3.5 Inquisition 2-set bonus and eventually the 6-set bonus. However, each specialization will maintain its preferred 2-set bonus in best-in-slot gear.
Replacement Strategy
Here is a typical approach for replacing each set bonus during your progression:
- Evaluate your current build and the impact of the set bonuses on your overall performance.
- Identify the benefits of new set bonuses and how they align with your playstyle and strategy.
- Transition to new set bonuses gradually, ensuring minimal disruption to your raid performance.
- Optimize your gear around the new set bonuses to maximize their effectiveness.
- Continuously assess and adjust your gear and bonuses as new content and updates are released.
Exodin
1. Utilize the T2.5 Avenger’s 4-set combined with the T3 Redemption 2-set, and complement with additional Off-pieces.
2. Another viable combination includes the T2.5 Avenger’s 4-set, the T3 Redemption 2-set, and the T3.5 Inquisition 2-set.
3. Consider employing the T2.5 Avenger’s 2-set together with the T3.5 Inquisition 6-set for optimal performance.
For the Exodin set, always use the Soul of the Exile on the shoulders.
Seal Twisting
Seal Stacking
Wrath-like
Optimal Gear Combinations
- T2 Draconic 2-set + T3 Redemption 2-set + T2.5 Avenger’s 2-set + T3/Off-pieces
- T2 Draconic 2-set + T3 Redemption 2-set + T2.5 Avenger’s 2-set + T3.5 Inquisition 2-set
- T2 Draconic 2-set + T3.5 Inquisition 6-set
Seal Twisting Strategy
When employing Seal Twisting, the combination of the Soul of the Judicator with the Draconic 2-set is typically used. In situations where the Draconic 4-set is in play, it is advisable to switch to the Soul of the Retributor instead of using the Soul of the Judicator. It’s important to note that the Soul of the Templar is no longer compatible with two-handed weapons. This adjustment ensures that the optimization of gear and abilities remains effective.
1. T2 Draconic 4-set + T3 Redemption 2-set + T2.5 Avenger’s 2-set
2. T2 Draconic 4-set + T3 Redemption 2-set + T3.5 Inquisition 2-set
3. T2 Draconic 2-set + T3.5 Inquisition 6-set
When it comes to Seal Stacking, it’s essential to equip the [Soul of the Sealbearer] on your shoulders for optimal performance.
Utilizing the Tier 3.5 Inquisition 6-set means you will forfeit the capacity to Double Judge every 3 seconds. However, the benefits from the set bonuses can significantly enhance your gameplay and contribute to your success in various encounters. If you’re interested in strengthening your gear and performance, consider exploring our raid services.
Gear Set Combinations for Paladin Retribution
- Combining the T2.5 Avenger’s 4-piece set with the T3 Redemption 2-piece set and additional off-pieces is an effective setup.
- Another viable combination involves using the T2.5 Avenger’s 4-piece set alongside both the T3 Redemption 2-piece set and the T3.5 Inquisition 2-piece set, creating a powerful hybrid setup.
- The full T3.5 Inquisition 6-piece set combined with the T3 Redemption 2-piece set and additional off-pieces provides another high-performance option.
Wrath-like Set Choices
For those favoring a Wrath-like style, there are two main gear strategies:
- Utilize the Soul of the Exile in combination with the Tier 2.5 Avenger’s 2-piece set for a balanced approach.
- Alternatively, opt for the Soul of the Retributor as a substitute when not utilizing Tier 2.5 gear. This is particularly effective after acquiring the Tier 3.5 Inquisition 6-piece set bonus.

Compromised Integrity for Maximizing Paladin DPS
The most significant items that can be acquired using the [Tarnished Undermine Real] currency are the class weapon [Truthbearer] for Exodin if you lack a superior raid weapon. This requires 150x [Tarnished Undermine Real]. Additionally, tier tokens for the Draconic Tier 2 items are available, each costing 35x [Tarnished Undermine Real]. It’s crucial to aim for the Draconic version of these tier items. The sequence of purchase is not critical; it should be guided by what you currently possess and have access to, so focus on upgrading the weakest components of your set.
The [Libram of Plenty] can be utilized for additional mana regeneration as needed, providing approximately 230 mana every 5 seconds. However, it is more common now to use the [Libram of the Exorcist] for increased damage output.
Overall, other items available for purchase with [Tarnished Undermine Real] are currently not considered worthwhile investments.
Body Armor for Paladin DPS – Phase 8 Season of Discovery
Below is a comprehensive list detailing the required items and their associated costs in the Phase 8 Season of Discovery for Paladin DPS:
This list outlines the necessary resources for acquiring key pieces of body armor, crucial for optimizing Paladin DPS performance in the current phase. Ensure you collect the required amount of Tarnished Undermine Real to secure these items.
Techniques for Enhancing Paladin Damage Output
Every Build Will Utilize Tier 3.5
All builds will incorporate the new Tier 3.5 Inquisition Helmet as part of their Tier 3.5 Inquisition 6-set bonus.
Previous Tier Options
Earlier tier options such as Tier 2, Tier 2.5, and Tier 3 remain excellent choices early in the phase, especially when completing a set bonus. Many builds will make use of these items during progression to replace the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is effective only against Undead enemies.
Best Helm Slot Off-Piece
The premier off-piece for the helm slot comes from the new Scarlet Enclave raid, known as the Raging Destroyer’s Helm. This piece is highly regarded as one of the top off-pieces available, offering exceptional attributes. It is an excellent early acquisition while progressing, providing a robust advantage before securing the Tier 3.5 helm and transitioning to the 6-set.
Head Enchant Recommendations
The Tempered Interference-Negating Helmet is no longer effective at level 60. The recommended Best in Slot (BiS) head enchants include the Arcanum of Rapidity or the Syncretist’s Sigil.
Consider using the Arcanum of Rapidity over the Syncretist’s Sigil if maintaining an attack speed above 3.0 is crucial for the Twist mechanic, or if it aids in reducing speed below 3.0 for stacking purposes.

Enhancing Paladin Damage Output through Shoulder Gear
BiS Shoulder Options for Paladins
In the current phase, the best shoulder option for Twisting is the Tier 2 Judgement Spaulders due to the Draconic 2-set bonus. For Exodin, the top choice is the Tier 2.5 Avenger’s Pauldrons, which provides the Avenger’s 2-set bonus. Players focusing on Stack or Wrath-like builds will find the new Tier 3.5 Inquisition Shoulderplates to be exceptional.
For those who play Twist/Exodin and desire an aesthetically appealing endgame gear set, it’s worth considering the Tier 3.5 Inquisition shoulders for their visual appeal. You can swap another Tier 3.5 item in your setup with either Tier 2 Draconic or Tier 2.5 Avenger’s to maintain effectiveness without compromising style.
Transitioning from Previous Tiers
Early in the phase, the previous tier options (Tier 2, Tier 2.5, & Tier 3) remain solid choices, especially when completing set bonuses. These items are commonly used during progression phases until they can replace the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is effective only against Undead foes.
Off-Piece Shoulder Recommendations
The top off-piece shoulder choices are Herod’s Pauldron and Weight of the World. These are excellent acquisitions in the initial weeks when there is ample room for non-tier off-pieces. Eventually, these will be upgraded to Tier 3.5.
Recommended BiS Shoulder Enchant
– Might of the Scourge
– Zandalar Signet of Might
Class-Specific Soul Recommendations
– Wrath-like: Soul of the Exile with Tier 2.5 2-set, otherwise Soul of the Retributor
– Exodin: Soul of the Exile
– Stack: Soul of the Sealbearer
– Twist: Soul of the Retributor with Tier 2 4-set, otherwise Soul of the Judicator

The Best Cloak Options
The top choice for cloaks currently is the Scarlet Commander’s Cape from the Scarlet Enclave. This cloak is favored by most players, except for those who specialize in Seal Twisting. These players cannot utilize the haste cloaks without reaching their cap, especially if they choose to wield the faster-than-usual 3.8-speed Corrupted Ashbringer. Consequently, the best-in-slot cloak for Seal Twisters remains the Cloak of Draconic Might, with the Cloak of the Fallen God as a close second. These cloaks have shown remarkable longevity in Seal Twisting builds and continue to be relevant choices.
For those who are able to leverage the haste, the Shroud of Dominion ranks as the second-best cloak. Meanwhile, the Cloak of the Scourge is no longer considered an optimal choice due to its inefficiencies in hit and attack power, especially since the **Sanctified** tag is no longer necessary.
Recommended BiS Cloak Enchants
These enchants are recommended to maximize the potential of your chosen cloak.

Paladin Damage-Dealing Chest Gear
Tier 3.5 Inquisition Set
Every build will leverage the exceptional Tier 3.5 Inquisition Breastplate to complete the Inquisition 6-set.
Previous Tier Options
The earlier tier sets, such as Tier 2, Tier 2.5, and Tier 3, remain valuable in the initial phases, especially if you’re aiming for a set bonus. These items are frequently utilized during progression to substitute the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is specifically effective against Undead enemies.
Best Non-Tier Off-Pieces
For non-tier off-pieces, the top choice is the Scarlet Chestplate, followed by the Plated Abomination Ribcage, and lastly, the Ghoul Skin Tunic. The Scarlet Chestplate stands out due to its 4% haste, surpassing nearly all other items in the game. It is highly recommended for Seal Stackers or players favoring a Wrath-like style during progression, until they complete their Tier 3.5 sets. Once the 6-set is achieved, it becomes impractical to use non-tier items in the chest slot.

Optimizing Wrist Gear for Paladin Damage Dealing
Seal Stacking
Seal Stacking involves utilizing the Judgement Bindings for wristwear to complete the T2 Draconic 2-set. Meanwhile, others will opt for the latest Tier 3.5 set, using Inquisition Vambraces to finalize the T3.5 Inquisition 6-set.
As always, the earlier tier options—Tier 2 and Tier 3—remain excellent choices in the initial phase if completing a set bonus is your goal. Many builds are expected to incorporate these items during progression to substitute the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is effective only against Undead foes. Additionally, the Qiraji Execution Bracers are exceptionally useful during progression when combined with the Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight, provided that you can utilize the expertise offered.
The top non-tier choice for the wrist slot is the remarkable Scrapped Argent Leathers. These fit seamlessly into nearly any set due to the absence of haste and no wasted hit chance, as long as you can utilize the 1% expertise. However, it is generally challenging to avoid using tier items in this slot, except during progression phases.

Optimizing Paladin Damage Output
Tier Set Choices for Paladins
Stack & Exodin are utilizing the new Tier 3.5 Inquisition Gloves to complete their T3.5 Inquisition 6-set, while players focusing on Seal Twisting are opting for the subpar Judgement Gauntlets to finalize the T2 Draconic 2-set bonus. Meanwhile, those favoring a Wrath-like approach are using the Redemption Gloves to complete the T3 Redemption 2-set bonus.
Early Phase Tier Options
The previously popular Tier 2 & Tier 3 sets remain valuable early in the phase, especially if they complete a set bonus. Many builds will incorporate these items during progression to replace the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is effective only against Undead enemies. Additionally, the two Timeworn options are highly beneficial during progression when combined with the Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight.
Best Off-Piece Gloves
The top off-piece gloves are found in the new Scarlet Enclave raid, specifically the Caldoran’s Locked Gauntlets. These gloves are packed with stats but are hard to justify over a tier item. Their primary use is during progression before securing a full Tier 3.5 set. Additionally, these gloves are beneficial in PvP for their immunity to disarm, similar to the Fists of the Unrelenting.
Recommended BiS Glove Enchant
– Enchant Gloves – Minor Haste
– Enchant Gloves – Superior Strength
Enhance your gameplay with our Gold services.
For players aiming to maintain an attack speed above 3.0 for Twist, or to decrease it below 3.0 for Stack, the Enchant Gloves – Minor Haste is the optimal choice.

Paladin DPS: Maximizing Damage Output from the Waist
Twist & Exodin
are utilizing the new Tier 3.5 belt, Inquisition Belt, to complete the T3.5 Inquisition 6-set bonus. On the other hand, the Seal Stacking build employs the Judgement Belt to achieve the T2 Draconic 2-set bonus. Interestingly, the Wrath-like build opts for a non-set belt, the Girdle of the Reborn Champion.
The earlier tier items, specifically Tier 2 and Tier 3, continue to be valuable in the early phase for completing set bonuses. Many players integrate these items during progression to replace the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is effective only against Undead foes. Similarly, the Belt of Never-ending Agony is a strong choice during progression, especially when paired with the Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight.
The Girdle of the Reborn Champion stands out as the premier off-piece belt in Phase 8, and ranks among the best off-pieces overall. It is closely followed by the Girdle of the Mentor, which remains a top-tier off-piece belt. However, the use of many off-pieces is typically minimized outside the early weeks of the phase, as players aim to equip tier items in every slot.
Ranked Belt Options

Enhancing Paladin Damage Output through Leg Gear
The Best Leggings for Every Build
The optimal choice for leggings in every build is the Inquisition Leggings from the tier set, as all builds aim for the T3.5 Inquisition 6-set bonus.
In the early stages of the phase, previous tier options such as Tier 2, Tier 2.5, and Tier 3 remain viable if you are looking to complete a set bonus. Many players will rely on these during progression to eventually replace the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is effective only against Undead enemies.
Off-Piece Leggings in the Scarlet Enclave Raid
Within the new Scarlet Enclave raid, there are two noteworthy off-piece leggings:
- Leggings of Catastrophe – This is the more powerful option if you benefit from haste, making it particularly advantageous for players focused on achieving an attack speed below 3.0, such as those with Stack or Wrath-like playstyles.
- Lightscale Leggings – A viable alternative if you do not require the additional haste.
However, as you progress, it’s challenging to justify using many off-pieces beyond the initial weeks of the phase, as you will soon find every slot occupied by tier items.
Recommended BiS Leg Enchant
For the best leg enchantment, consider:
- Arcanum of Rapidity – Ideal if you are maintaining an attack speed above 3.0 for Twist or if it assists in achieving a speed below 3.0 for Stack.
- Syncretist’s Sigil – Another option to consider based on your specific build requirements.

Optimizing Paladin DPS through Footgear
New Tier 3.5 Boots Selection
The newly introduced Tier 3.5 Inquisition Greaves are considered the top choice for all builds aiming to achieve the T3.5 Inquisition 6-set, with the exception of the Exodin build which will opt for the Tier 2.5 Avenger’s Greaves instead.
Previous tier options like Tier 2, Tier 2.5, and Tier 3 remain valuable early in the phase, especially when completing a set bonus. Many builds will utilize these items during progression to replace the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus, which is limited to Undead enemies.
New Off-Piece Boots
Two new off-piece pairs of boots are available from the Scarlet Enclave. The Bear Training Boots are the superior option, followed by the Polished Scarlet Mail Boots. There’s also a plate tank option, Crimson Wartreads, that is surprisingly effective for DPS, provided you can utilize the 2% expertise. However, using many off-pieces is challenging beyond the early phase since tier items will soon occupy every slot.
Timeworn Off-Pieces and Reputation Ring
In Phase 8, Timeworn off-pieces gain increased value when paired with the reputation ring, Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight, due to the Tier 3 Redemption 6-set bonus and Sanctified not being advantageous in the new Scarlet Enclave raid. In fact, many Timeworn off-pieces are best-in-slot for Week 1 of Scarlet Enclave progression.

Enhancing Paladin Damage Output with Neck Gear
Hope of Herod
The Hope of Herod necklace is arguably the most powerful option available, teeming with beneficial stats suitable for most players. Those who engage in Seal Twisting, however, may need to consider alternatives due to specific attribute requirements.
Seal Twisting Considerations
For players wielding the Corrupted Ashbringer with its 3.8 weapon speed, managing haste is crucial to maintain an optimal attack speed above 3.0. In such cases, Kaigy’s Clasp or Ada’s Amulet are recommended as they lack haste, making them ideal for long-term use. These necklaces deliver comparable performance, providing a solid choice for players managing their haste levels.
Alternative Necklaces
The Stormrage’s Talisman of Seething is another viable option; however, it contains 1% haste. This may pose a challenge for Twisting players who aim to wield legendary weapons, as it conflicts with their need to control attack speed.
Exodin Players
For Exodin players utilizing weapons like the Claymore of Unholy Might that lack a Blazefury-type proc effect, the Blazefury Medallion remains a top choice. This medallion is highly valued due to its ability to trigger the Art of War, enhancing its effectiveness. It also serves as a solid option for players focusing on strategies like Stack & Wrath.
Neck Slot Options
For builds incorporating weapons with built-in Blazefury-type effects, such as Truthbearer and Leogan, players can explore different necklaces. These weapons allow players to utilize their neck slot for other advantageous items, thus broadening their strategic options.

Best Rings for Enhancing a Paladin's Damage Output
The Best Ring
The Band of Redemption remains the top choice for rings, primarily due to its extra attack proc. This feature makes it significantly more powerful than most passive trinkets available in the game.
Second-Best Ring for Non-Twist Builds
For players who are not Seal Twisting, the Baelin’s Band is the second-best option. However, those practicing Seal Twisting aim to minimize their haste, attributed to the faster 3.8 speed of the Corrupted Ashbringer. In such cases, the Mason’s Fraternity Ring is preferred over Baelin’s Band.
Complementing Timeworn Off-Pieces
If your setup includes any Timeworn off-pieces, which are commonly used in pre-Scarlet Enclave progression sets, it is essential to wear the Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight. This ring provides a powerful extra attack proc.
Top Rings from Naxxramas
The Ghastly Ring remains one of the premier rings in the game. Alongside it, the Band of Unnatural Forces, available from Naxxramas, is particularly effective if you require additional haste to achieve or exceed a 3.0 attack speed, especially for slow weapon builds.
Consideration for Expertise
The Ring of the Qiraji Fury remains a viable option if expertise is a requirement. However, if expertise is not a priority, it’s advisable to consider replacing it. Keep in mind that this ring is not Sanctified if you decide to revisit a Naxxramas raid.
Rank | Item | Source | Location |
---|---|---|---|
Best | Band of Redemption | Desecrated Ring (drops from Kel’Thuzad) | Naxxramas |
Best | Baelin’s Band | Unknown | Scarlet Enclave |

Paladin DPS Accessories: Enhance Your Damage-dealing Abilities
Trinket Strategy
In many scenarios, it’s advantageous to pair one active on-use trinket with a passive proc trinket. However, this isn’t a hard and fast rule. Our primary cooldown, Avenging Wrath, operates on a 3-minute cooldown, which often doesn’t synchronize well with the cooldowns of many active trinkets. Generally, active trinkets excel in shorter encounters, while passive ones tend to perform better in extended battles.

Trinket Overview for Slow Weapon Builds
In this guide, we will explore the optimal trinkets for three distinct slow weapon builds: Stacking, Twisting, and Wrath-like. Each of these builds has unique characteristics and therefore requires specific trinket selections to maximize their potential. Here’s a detailed look at the best trinkets for each build type.
Stacking Build
For the Stacking build, the goal is to accumulate buffs or effects over time to increase power. This build benefits from trinkets that offer:
- Consistent stat increases
- Buffs that stack with each strike
- Effects that trigger on multiple successful hits
Twisting Build
The Twisting build emphasizes managing multiple abilities or effects simultaneously. The ideal trinkets for this build include:
- Trinkets with cooldown reductions
- On-use effects that align with ability rotations
- Procs that enhance multiple abilities
Wrath-like Build
Wrath-like builds focus on burst damage, making them reliant on trinkets that provide:
- High burst damage potential
- On-use effects that significantly increase attack power
- Trinkets that amplify critical strike damage
By selecting the appropriate trinkets for each build, players can optimize their performance in different scenarios. Understanding how each trinket complements your build is crucial for maximizing effectiveness in battle.
Engaging Trinkets: Combining Effects, Amplifying Power, and Infusing with Fury
Optimal Active Trinket for Twist & Wrath-like Builds
A highly recommended active trinket for Twist & Wrath-like builds is Sir Dornel’s Didgeridoo. This trinket offers an effect similar to the Blackblade of Shahram by summoning an NPC that provides random buffs. However, unlike the Blackblade, the buffs from Sir Dornel’s Didgeridoo are personal, and you can choose the optimal time for activation. It stands out as the only non-haste-based active trinket from the Scarlet Enclave, apart from the less effective Lucky Doubloon. Thus, it is the default best choice for Twist builds.
When activated, Sir Dornel’s Didgeridoo grants one of the following random buffs:
- Speed of the Cat – Increases Haste by 14%
- Strength of the Bear – Increases Strength by 140
- Agility of the Raptor – Increases Agility by 140
- Power of the Gorilla – Increases Melee Attack Power by 280 and Ranged Attack Power by 308
- Accuracy of the Owl – Increases Critical Strike Chance by 10%
- Ferocity of the Crocolisk – Increases Armor Penetration by 1000
- Brilliance of Mr. Bigglesworth – Simultaneously grants 50% of all the above buffs
Maximize the potential of your raid builds by integrating Sir Dornel’s Didgeridoo, ensuring that you are optimally enhanced for any combat scenario.
Optimal Buffs
The top choice for buffs is [Brilliance of Mr. Bigglesworth], closely followed by the +14% Haste, which is beneficial for Stack and Wrath-like builds. While most buffs provide significant advantages, the +1000 Armor Penetration is the least favorable. This is because it only affects roughly 20% of your damage, and bosses typically have less than 1000 armor after debuffs, making this buff less effective.
Managing Buffs While Seal Twisting
If you are Seal Twisting and acquire [Speed of the Cat], it is advisable to remove this buff using a /cancelaura macro. The 14% haste can push you beyond the haste cap. However, if you receive [Brilliance of Mr. Bigglesworth], keep the buff and pause your twists until the global cooldown allows, due to the valuable stats it offers. Stack and Wrath-like builds can take advantage of any buffs without cancellation.
Active Trinket Options for Wrath-like Builds
Wrath-like builds benefit from a secondary active trinket such as [Abandoned Experiment], which is also an excellent choice for Seal Stacking. If unavailable, both [Scrolls of Blinding Light] and [Kiss of the Spider] serve as viable alternatives until [Abandoned Experiment] and [Blackblade of Shahram] are obtained. These items remain effective in Phase 8.
Trinket Selection for Twisting
For Twisting, the second-best active trinket option is [Slayer’s Crest], which, although approximately 200 DPS lower, offers consistency. Following this, [Jom Gabbar] is a strong choice if timed so that the final 10 seconds coincide with the 45% attack power boost from the T3.5 Inquisition 6-set and [Aura Mastery].

Each item is ranked based on its effectiveness and source, giving players an idea of where they can find these valuable items. Whether you’re looking for the best, very good, or good items, this guide will help you navigate through various sources and locations within the game world.
Passive Trinkets - Rotation, Accumulation, and Fury-inspired
Hand of Reborn Justice
The Hand of Reborn Justice is a newly introduced trinket, offering a significant upgrade from the Hand of Justice. It is considered best-in-slot for both the Twist & Stack playstyles and provides substantial benefits to all character builds. While players pursuing a Wrath-like setup might eventually opt for two active trinkets over passive ones, Hand of Reborn Justice will remain a valuable asset until that point is reached.
Cinders of the Fallen Crusade
Another noteworthy passive trinket is the Cinders of the Fallen Crusade. It is especially effective for Stack & Wrath-like builds, provided it aids in reducing your attack speed below 3.0. However, players employing twisting techniques might face challenges in maintaining the optimal attack speed while utilizing passive trinkets with haste. As such, acquiring the Hand of Reborn Justice should be a priority.
In summary, both trinkets offer unique advantages depending on your build and playstyle. Prioritizing the acquisition of the Hand of Reborn Justice is advisable for those looking to enhance their performance effectively.
Rank | Item | Source | Location |
---|---|---|---|
Best: Twist + Stack | Hand of Reborn Justice | Reward from The Right Path | Eastern Plaguelands |
Very Good | Cinders of the Fallen Crusade | Unknown | Scarlet Enclave |
Very Good | Speedstone | Crafted – BoE | Enchanting |
Very Good | Eye of Diminution | Drops from Thaddius | Naxxramas |
Exquisite Trinkets for Exodin
Exodin Trinkets and Stat Prioritization
When it comes to Exodin trinkets, the focus is significantly placed on haste, which is considered the most beneficial stat for these trinkets. Unlike other stats such as extra attacks, critical strike chance, or attack power, haste is prioritized due to its potential to enhance performance. Understanding the importance of haste allows for a more strategic selection of trinkets, ensuring optimal effectiveness in various scenarios.
Exodin Trinkets in Action
The Best Active Trinket for Exodin
The optimal active trinket choice for Exodin is the [Abandoned Experiment]. This trinket provides a stacking attack speed bonus that can reach up to 30% and remains active for 30 seconds. Since the stacks are activated through melee attacks, Exodin can quickly build up these stacks, greatly enhancing both [Seal of Martyrdom] damage and [The Art of War] procs during the effect’s duration.
Alternative Active Trinket Options
– Kiss of the Spider
– Scrolls of Blinding Light
These two trinkets offer raw haste boosts and remain excellent choices, especially effective in battles lasting between 30 to 60 seconds. In such scenarios, it is often beneficial to equip two active trinkets instead of relying on a passive one, maximizing your performance in quick encounters.

If you encounter any issues with threat management, the Eye of Diminution is an excellent trinket option. It allows you to engage a boss earlier without the concern of pulling threat. The primary advantage of this trinket, however, lies in its beneficial passive stats.

Optimizing Paladin Damage with Two-Handed Weapons
Weapon Selection by Build
The evaluation of weapons varies based on the build you choose. The amount of haste you possess can significantly alter weapon rankings. As your haste increases, slower weapons tend to excel in techniques like Seal Stacking, Seal Twisting, and Wrath-like. Conversely, faster weapons may become less effective or even unsuitable for Seal Twisting.
Armaments for Building Towering Seals & Fury Resembling Wrath
Seal Stacking or Wrath-like Strategy
For those employing the Seal Stacking or Wrath-like approach, it’s crucial to adjust your attack speed to be under 3.0 speed, known as the “haste breakpoint.” This ensures that Wild Strikes are more likely to activate from auto-attacks rather than abilities. Achieving this can help prevent resets of the swing timer and conserve melee swings. Consequently, the weapon hierarchy may change, favoring the slowest weapons that can be brought below the 3.0 speed mark. To attain these sub-3.0 speeds, add haste as required.
Top Weapon Choice
The most coveted weapon is undoubtedly the legendary Corrupted Ashbringer, which boasts an impressive 100 item level. This weapon now features enhanced statistics and includes an AoE lifesteal effect, drawing health from nearby foes and granting +30 Strength per enemy siphoned, which can stack up to five times. With a 3.8 speed, this weapon is relatively simple to adjust below the 3.0 speed breakpoint.
Second Best Weapon
Despite being nerfed, the Blade of Inquisition, found in the Four Horsemen Chest within Naxxramas, remains a top contender. Its +175 Strength proc elevates this weapon above all epic options from the Scarlet Enclave. Additionally, the buff it provides includes a 15% increase in movement speed, which is cumulative and significantly beneficial for combat situations requiring agility. This boost can also enhance your DPS by maintaining higher uptime. It remains one of the most valuable items to acquire in Naxxramas.
Other Notable Weapons
There are also several potent weapons available from the Scarlet Enclave for consideration.
1. Caladbolg, found in the Scarlet Enclave, stands as one of the most formidable weapons for single-target combat, aside from the renowned Corrupted Ashbringer. This is largely due to its superior stats, as the weapon’s on-use effect is more of a novelty, rarely utilized beyond some humorous moments in PvP scenarios.
2. The Vis’era the Gutrender is another remarkable weapon with limited known details. Notably, its effect grants immunity to knockbacks, eliminating the need to quickly counteract with a Snowball to prevent being launched across the battlefield, akin to a Gnome propelled from a cannon. With a speed of 4.0, achieving a near 3.0 speed will require significant haste, but it remains achievable.
3. Ravagane excels in AoE and cleave situations, functioning as an enhanced version of the Ravager. It parallels the eternally best-in-slot AoE trinket, the Badge of the Swarmguard, which also mimics the Ravager. Combining these items can transform you into a formidable Whirlwind force.
Might of Menethil Overview
The Might of Menethil remains a commendable choice due to its high item level, as it is acquired from the final boss in Naxxramas, Kel’Thuzad. Although its slow 4.0 speed may initially present a challenge, obtaining gear from the Scarlet Enclave can provide the necessary haste to reduce its speed below 3.0. Additionally, the weapon features a random proc that knocks down all nearby enemies for 4 seconds, enhancing its effectiveness against trash mobs and adds, as well as in PvP combat.
Shadowstrike’s Lifesteal Effect
The Shadowstrike weapon is equipped with a Drain Life lifesteal effect that scales with 100% of your spell power. This attribute significantly contributes to survivability, making it a valuable asset in challenging encounters.

For optimal performance, consider the following weapon enchants for your gear:
- Enchant 2H Weapon – Grand Inquisitor – This enchant offers superior benefits for strength-based characters.
- Enchant Weapon – Crusader – A popular choice for boosting attack power and healing capabilities.

Tools for Crafting Seals
Seal Twisting and Optimal Weapon Speed
To maximize the effectiveness of Seal Twisting, aim for an attack speed as close to 3.00 as possible, referred to as the “haste cap.” This optimization accelerates all damage output. Slower weapons that can still achieve a 3.0 speed will have an edge, so weapon rankings will vary with your haste levels. If maintaining a speed above 3.0 proves difficult, consider reducing haste or opting for a slower weapon. For instance, weapons with a 3.5 speed become unsuitable if you have 2% haste or more.
Top Weapon Choices
The premier weapon in this category is the legendary [Corrupted Ashbringer], boasting an impressive item level of 100. It features enhanced stats and an AoE lifesteal effect that drains health from nearby foes while providing +30 Strength for each enemy siphoned, stacking up to five times. However, its 3.8 speed can limit the use of haste items in neck and cloak slots, compelling reliance on items like [Cloak of Draconic Might] and [Kaigy’s Clasp].
The next best weapon, despite a nerf, is the [Blade of Inquisition] sourced from the [Four Horsemen Chest] in [Naxxramas]. Its +175 Strength proc elevates it above all epic [Scarlet Enclave] weapons. Additionally, it grants a 15% movement speed boost that stacks, which is invaluable in movement-intensive battles and significantly increases DPS by enhancing uptime. This remains a top item to acquire in [Naxxramas].
Additional Weapon Options
There are several potent weapons available from the [Scarlet Enclave]:
– Explore the variety of weapons within this location to find options that complement your play style and character build.
– Consider the weapon speed and procs available to select a weapon that aligns with your overall strategy.
1. The Caladbolg stands out as an exceptional single-target weapon within the Scarlet Enclave, only surpassed by the Corrupted Ashbringer. Its primary appeal lies in its impressive stats, as the weapon’s on-use effect is more of a novelty, mainly providing amusement in PvP scenarios.
2. The Vis’era the Gutrender is another formidable weapon, although much about it remains a mystery. It boasts a unique effect that grants immunity to knockbacks, an invaluable feature that saves you from the necessity of using a Snowball to avoid being tossed around like a Gnome from a cannon. With a speed of 4.0, achieving a speed closer to 3.0 will require significant haste, but it is certainly achievable.
3. The Ravagane excels in AoE and cleave encounters, functioning as an enhanced version of the Ravager. It pairs excellently with the Badge of the Swarmguard, our perpetual best-in-slot AoE trinket, which also mimics the Ravager. Utilizing both instruments together can transform you into a formidable Whirlwind force.
Might of Menethil remains a formidable weapon, largely due to its high item level, as it drops from the Naxxramas final boss, Kel’Thuzad. Although its very slow 4.0 speed might be a drawback, acquiring sufficient haste from Scarlet Enclave gear can reduce it closer to a 3.0 speed, enhancing its efficiency. Additionally, it features a random proc that incapacitates all nearby enemies for 4 seconds, making it particularly advantageous against trash mobs, adds, or in PvP battles.
Recommended BiS Weapon Enchants
Both enchants provide significant benefits, enhancing your weapon’s overall performance and effectiveness in combat.

Armament Options for Exodin
Exodin Weapon Strategy
For Exodin, the goal is to acquire the fastest 2-handed weapons to enhance the damage output of the Seal of Martyrdom and trigger The Art of War more frequently. The choice of weapons for this build is limited because it heavily depends on specific items designed for Exodin, which ensure its viability in every phase. Exodin’s effectiveness is significantly tied to these weapons.
Leogan is recognized as an almost legendary-tier weapon for Exodin. As the game progresses, Exodin has required increasingly powerful items to compensate for its lack of scaling. The developers have truly excelled with this weapon, as it outperforms others by more than 1500 DPS. This formidable weapon has a speed of 1.7, includes a +250 Strength proc, reduces the global cooldown of Exorcism by 0.5 seconds, and features an inherent Blazefury Medallion effect, allowing you to use your neck slot for treasures from Scarlet Enclave and Naxxramas.
The Claymore of Unholy Might remains the second-best choice for Exodin due to its exceptional +350 Strength proc. It stands above weapons like Truthbearer and Kalimdor’s Revenge, which are nearly equal in performance. The Truthbearer also boasts the Blazefury Medallion effect, granting you the flexibility to choose a different neck piece. If you opt for Kalimdor’s Revenge, having a Balance Druid apply Dreamstate will enhance the proc by 20%.
The Truthbearer can now be acquired for 150x Tarnished Undermine Real.
Until you secure one of the top-tier weapons, the only feasible alternative is the crafted Obsidian Champion. However, crafting it may be costly and unnecessary at this stage, as purchasing the Truthbearer with Tarnished Undermine Real is more practical.

Librams for Enhancing Paladin Damage Output
Libram of the Exorcist
The Libram of the Exorcist stands as the premier choice for librams, often considered the best-in-slot. This powerful item can be crafted by an Enchanter or conveniently purchased from the Auction House.
Libram of Plenty
When it comes to maintaining or boosting mana, the Libram of Plenty excels as the most potent option. It provides a substantial boost equivalent to 230 mana every 5 seconds. However, given the typical lack of necessity for additional mana, the Libram of the Exorcist is favored for its damage capabilities.
Other Available Librams
The other librams available do not offer sufficient benefits when compared to the ease of acquiring the two aforementioned options.
Dalton’s Horn
The Dalton’s Horn is notable for its inability to be utilized in a raid setting.
Libram Rankings and Sources
Rank | Item | Source | Location |

Best | Libram of the Exorcist | Crafted – BoE | Enchanting |
