Shado-Pan Monastery Heroic Dungeon Guide (WoD 6.1.2)

1. Introduction

The Shado-Pan Monastery is a 5-man dungeon located in Kun-Lai Summit on Pandaria. The Normal-difficulty version is available for players between levels 87 and 90, while Heroic-difficulty is exclusive to level 90 players. It features four encounters: Gu Cloudstrike, Master Snowdrift, Sha of Violence, and Taran Zhu.

The Shado-Pan Monastery, a critical training center for the Shado-Pan faction, has been corrupted by the Sha of Violence. This corruption has turned the monks against one another. Players must cleanse the monastery by defeating its corrupted leaders and restoring order.

This dungeon has a linear layout spanning four zones, each containing a boss. Travel between zones is facilitated by mounts.

5. Boss Strategies

5.1. Gu Cloudstrike

Phase One

• Gu casts Invoke Lightning (AoE damage); spread out.
• Azure Serpent drops Static Field; avoid them.

Phase Two

• Gu becomes immune; kill the Azure Serpent.
• Avoid Lightning Breath (frontal cone attack).

Phase Three

• Gu repeatedly casts Overcharged Soul (soft enrage mechanic).
• Burn him down before damage overwhelms the group.

6. Master Snowdrift

Phase One

• Fists of Fury (frontal AoE); melee should avoid.
• Tornado Kick (knockback); avoid standing close.

Phase Two

• Destroy clones while dodging Ball of Fire.

Phase Three

• Tornado Slam (fixates on a player); kite the boss.
• Parry Stance ; melee should stop attacking temporarily.

7. Sha of Violence

• Smoke Blades (AoE damage over time); melee should move out.
• Sha Spike (spike erupts under a player); move away.
• Disorienting Smash (heavy tank damage); healers beware.
• Enrage (higher damage at low health); finish quickly.

Achievement: The Obvious Solution

• Release all Sha minions before engaging the boss.
• Defeat them along with the boss.

8. Taran Zhu

• Hatred Mechanic: Bar fills with damage taken; use Meditate to reset it.
• Rising Hate (party-wide AoE); healer-intensive phase.
• Ring of Malice (expanding damage field); avoid standing inside.
• Hateful Charge (charges a player); spread out to minimize damage.

Achievement: Hate Leads to Suffering

• Let all players reach max Hatred before killing Taran Zhu.
