Time Required to Collect the Staff of Dragon's Wrath in Cataclysm Classic Revealed by Developers
The developers of Cataclysm Classic published a note detailing how the collection of the legendary staff, Dragon’s Wrath, Eternal Rest of Teresgosa, will be accelerated. Players raiding in 25-player groups can expect to obtain the item in an average of 4.5 to 6 weeks, while those in 10-player raids will see a timeline of approximately 9 to 12 weeks.
Developer Notes for Testing the “Wrath of the Firelands” Update on PTR
In today’s test build, various balancing changes have been made regarding the collection speed of Dragon’s Wrath in the Firelands.
Dragon’s Wrath
Changes have been made to the quests “Timeless Eye,” “Time is Short,” and “Heart of Flame,” as well as the drop rates for the corresponding Eternal Embers, Blazing Embers, and Smoldering Essences:
- For 25-player Normal and Heroic Modes: Players can expect to complete all material collection stages in an average of 4.5 to 6 weeks, with each individual stage taking no more than 1.5 to 2 weeks.
- For 10-player Normal and Heroic Modes: Players can expect to complete all material collection stages in an average of 9 to 12 weeks, with each individual stage taking no more than 3 to 4 weeks.
Additional Adjustments to the Legendary Quest Chain
- Players who used charged items to open the portal in the Spire Ring can now reopen this portal for raid groups, even if they have already completed the “Assignment” quest and received the Branch of Nordrassil.
- Charged items for the “Assignment” quest are now slightly easier to obtain:
- Coalstone Fragments are now gathered in groups of 3 from the Crystal Prison Trap during the encounter with Shannox.
- Rhyolitic Fragments are now gathered in groups of 3 during the encounter with Lord Rhyolith.
- Firecarapace Fragments are now gathered in groups of 3 from the eggs of the Ravenous Hatchlings during the encounter with Alysrazor.
- Bethtilac has not received any changes, as the Chitin Fragments with obsidian inlays are already gathered in groups of 3 from the Wretched Silkworms.
Additionally, we have increased the drop rate for Crystallized Flints from all sources in the Firelands.
The developers of WoW Classic also announced on their X/Twitter account that they have decided to extend the Firelands phase in Cataclysm Classic beyond January, allowing players ample time to enjoy raiding and obtain the legendary staff.

“We also plan to extend the Firelands phase in Cataclysm Classic beyond the previously announced end date in January to give as many players as possible the opportunity to master this legendary raid and craft their own Dragon’s Wrath, Eternal Rest of Teresgosa.”
