Midnight Tailoring at a Glance

Tailoring is an S tier gold profession on Icy Veins’ Season 2 list (updated 11 August). Icy Veins notes that Tailoring’s cooldown cloth crafting has performed well and expects more from combat gear crafting in Season 2. Midnight removed cloth unraveling: cloth becomes bolts directly. The best recipes use two cooldown bolts, Arcanoweave and Sunfire Silk, that you can make once a day after you invest in the Nimble Needlework tree.

Method’s material total to skill 60: 102 Bright Linen, 592 Silverleaf Thread, 60 Embroidery Floss, 34 Eversinging Dust and 102 crafted Bright Linen Bolts. Recipe levels from wow-professions.com for the rare cloth set are Wrists 5, Belt 10, Cloak 15, Gloves 15, Slippers 15, Pants 20, Helm 25, Shoulders 30 and Robes 30. Confirm in game, because the two sources do not always agree.
Armor, Embellishments and Other Recipes
Cloth armor
- Rare set (trainer). Courtly Helm, Shoulders, Cloak, Robes, Wrists, Gloves, Belt, Pants and Slippers.
- Epic set (Sin’dorei Finery). Martyr’s Crown, Mantle, Vestments, Bindings, Gloves, Waistwrap, Leggings and Slippers, plus Adherent’s Silken Shroud (cloak).
- PvP. The Thalassian Competitor’s Cloth set from the Honor vendor Mirvedon in Silvermoon.
Embellishments (two can be worn)
- Arcanoweave Bracers, Cloak and Treads, and Sunfire Silk Bracers, Cloak and Treads, each with a Trappings set effect. Arcanoweave Cord (a mastery proc) drops from Heavy Trunk in Delves; Sunfire Silk Sash (a radiant damage proc) drops from Restless Heart in Windrunner Spire.
- Linings. Arcanoweave Lining drops from Degentrius in Magisters’ Terrace; Sunfire Silk Lining drops from Heavy Trunk.
- Snakeskin Lining (12.1). A random nature damage-over-time proc (Method).

Bags, cloaks and decor
- Bags. Imbued Bright Linen Backpack and Bright Linen Reagent Satchel (skill 35); Arcanoweave Reagent Rucksack and Sunfire Silk Backpack (skill 50).
- Cloaks. Six wardrobe capes at skill 50, including Blood-Tempered Cape and Smuggler’s Cloak.

Most high-end recipes need the daily cooldown bolts. Epic gear is soulbound, so you make it through Crafting Orders for other players. Blue and epic tools give the same skill bonus; epic adds higher secondary stats.

Method describes three builds for earning gold. The Cloth Farmer sells bolts, because many tailors skip Nimble Needlework. The Cloth Gear Crafter makes bracers, the most common crafted slot, for Crafting Orders. The Sunfire or Arcanoweave Gear build makes set pieces that may pay if few tailors make them.

The one-time respec that arrived with patch 12.1 (everything new in 12.1) gives back every spent point and removes the recipes they bought, according to Method. A tailor who started in Fiber Arts can use it to move into Nimble Needlework, so decide where you want to end up before you reset.
Making Gold With Midnight Tailoring
Icy Veins lists Tailoring in S tier with Inscription and Jewelcrafting, noting that cooldown cloth crafting has done well and that combat gear should do better once Season 2 gear crafting begins. A tailor’s Season 2 crafts draw on the same Sparks of Tides and Mistcrests as every other gear profession (the cost table is in Midnight Best Profession). Tailoring adds a limit of its own, the daily cooldown on Arcanoweave and Sunfire Silk bolts, and most embellishments, bags and set pieces need those bolts. Plan Spark spending around the bolts you will actually have.
- Compare the Auction House price of Bright Linen Bolts with your cost to farm cloth. Method says many tailors skip the daily bolt tree.
- Take Patron and public Crafting Orders for bracers and spellthread, since they are common.
- Check the tier list across all professions in Midnight Best Profession.
