September 17: Day 1

The first day of the Race to World First: Nerub’ar Palace began with a few last-minute changes to bosses, adding excitement and unpredictability to the event.

Boss Adjustments Before the Start:

  • Bloodbound Horror and Silken Court: Buffed, making these encounters more challenging.
  • Sikran: Nerfed, slightly reducing the difficulty of this boss.
  • Rasha’nan and Nexus-Princess Ky’veza: Mixed adjustments, tweaking their mechanics.

As expected, top guilds like Liquid started the day by farming gear through split raids to prepare for the Mythic bosses.

World First Achievements: Ulgrax and Bloodbound Horror on Mythic

On the first day of the Nerub’ar Palace RWF, Melee Mechanics wasted no time in claiming two impressive World First kills:

  • World First Mythic Ulgrax: Melee Mechanics secured the first kill of Mythic Ulgrax, kicking off the competition in style.
  • World First Mythic Bloodbound Horror: Soon after their initial victory, they added another World First by defeating the Bloodbound Horror on Mythic difficulty.

Few guilds were ready for Mythic content on Day 1, but Melee Mechanics and The Early Shift led the charge. After taking down Sikran to 30% health, Melee Mechanics returned to Heroic splits to further bolster their team for the upcoming challenges.

Meanwhile, other top guilds focused on gearing up through splits, preparing themselves for the grueling battles ahead in the Race to World First.

World First Sikran, Captain of the Sureki on Mythic

Liquid entered the Nerub’ar Palace Race to World First during the latter part of the day, making an immediate impact. They quickly secured their first Mythic kill by defeating Ulgrax and claiming the World Second. Their momentum continued as they followed up with a World Second kill of Bloodbound Horror in a single attempt.

However, the true highlight came when Liquid achieved their first World First WoW kill in the Nerub’ar Palace raid. They managed to one-shot Sikran, Captain of the Sureki, marking a significant achievement. Despite experiencing two deaths during the encounter, the kill was relatively smooth, placing Liquid at 3/8 Mythic bosses defeated.

World First Rasha’nan on Mythic

Liquid kept their momentum going by securing their second World First in the Nerub’ar Palace raid, taking down Rasha’nan with ease. This marked their fourth boss kill, pushing them to 4/8 bosses cleared in Mythic. Impressively, Liquid achieved this without any wipes, showcasing their skill and preparation. Their next target was Nexus-Princess Ky’veza, but she proved to be the first boss to wipe Liquid.

After just two pulls on Ky’veza, Liquid decided to shift focus, opting to challenge Broodtwister Ovi’nax instead. This strategic pivot was likely a tactical move to gather more gear and data before resuming attempts on Ky’veza. To further strengthen their raid, Liquid returned to Heroic splits after testing both bosses, ensuring they were better equipped for future Mythic encounters.

Recap of Liquid’s Performance: End of Day 1

Liquid had an incredibly successful first day in the Race to World First, securing World First kills on four Mythic bosses in Nerub’ar Palace. Although they encountered a few challenges, particularly with Rasha’nan as they reached the soft-enrage before securing the kill, they still managed an impressive performance. With their item level around 614, Liquid’s gearing is expected to improve as they continue farming.

End of Day 1 Mythic Nerub’ar Palace Recap:

  • Liquid: 4/8 bosses down
  • xD and poptart corndoG: 3/8 bosses down
  • Melee Mechanics, vodka, Vesper, and Nurfed: 2/8 bosses down
  • Mesmerize: 1/8 bosses down

Stay tuned as these top guilds continue to battle through the Nerub’ar Palace raid, with more World Firsts yet to be claimed!

September 18: Day 2

The second day of the Race to World First (RWF) saw several prominent guilds like Echo and Method joining the fray, along with increased competition from other guilds across the globe. The race for the top spots continues to heat up as more guilds progress through the Nerub’ar Palace Mythic bosses, but the final encounter with Queen Ansurek is still awaiting serious attempts.

Echo and Method Begin Their Assault

Both Echo and Method entered the Nerub’ar Palace Mythic raid, starting with the traditional strategy of split raids to gear up. These teams postponed their attempts on Queen Ansurek and focused on securing early boss kills, quickly catching up with Liquid. By the end of the day, both Echo and Method had cleared the first four Mythic bosses:

  • Echo: After defeating Ulgrax, Bloodbound Horror, and Sikran, Echo overpowered Rasha’nan on their second attempt, reaching 4/8M, tying with Liquid for the top spot.
  • Method: Similarly, Method had a strong showing, taking down Ulgrax, Bloodbound Horror, Sikran, and Rasha’nan, putting them in third place in the race.

Progress Across Other Guilds

Honolulu joined the race, securing kills on the first three bosses, but hit a roadblock at Rasha’nan, where they encountered eight wipes before deciding to take a break and focus on splits. Their current progress stands at 3/8M.

Cope, an OCE guild that started earlier, achieved the World 6th kill of Sikran, while Indecent also defeated Ulgrax, making them the third OCE guild to do so.

Other notable guilds include:

  • HoNestly: Entered the race and defeated Ulgrax, preparing to face The Bloodbound Horror next.
  • Reversion (EU): After securing their first few kills, they progressed to Rasha’nan, achieving World 4th kill on this boss and reaching 4/8M.

Liquid Leads but Faces Challenges with Broodtwister Ovi’nax

Liquid continued to lead the race but faced significant challenges with Broodtwister Ovi’nax, the fifth boss. Liquid made solid progress, dropping the boss’s health to 33% on their 17th pull, despite multiple deaths during the encounter. They also experienced setbacks due to server issues, but returned stronger, eventually pushing Broodtwister to 29.4%. With three empowered egg phases tackled, Liquid remains focused on achieving the World First for this boss.

As more guilds farm gear through Heroic splits and continue pushing Mythic bosses, the pace of the race has slowed, particularly with the more challenging encounters like Broodtwister Ovi’nax and Nexus-Princess Ky’veza. With Liquid in the lead on Broodtwister and other top guilds close behind, the coming days will likely see intense competition as guilds attempt to overcome these roadblocks and move closer to Queen Ansurek.

September 19: Day 3

The Race to World First (RWF) Nerub’ar Palace continued into Day 3 with intense competition, and after numerous attempts, Liquid finally secured the World First kill of Mythic Broodtwister Ovi’nax. This victory marked a pivotal moment in the race, with many guilds still battling to defeat this challenging boss. Liquid’s success came after 119 pulls, culminating in a dramatic low-percent wipe at 0.2% just before dinner. Their eventual kill demonstrated their mastery of updated strategies and raid compositions, allowing them to push ahead in the race.

Broodtwister Ovi’nax: Guild Progression Overview

Liquid’s Path to Victory

After a long day of progression, Liquid finally claimed the World First Broodtwister Ovi’nax kill. Their success was largely due to adjustments in their strategy, including a focus on two-tank setups and Beast Mastery Hunters to optimize single-target damage. Their Blood Death Knights also played a critical role, almost soloing the final moments of the encounter on multiple attempts. Liquid’s close calls, especially their 1.2% wipe, kept fans on the edge of their seats until their final, victorious pull.

Echo and Method’s Attempts

Both Echo and Method continued to progress on Broodtwister Ovi’nax, with Echo reaching 40.91% and Method managing a best pull of 69.64%. However, both guilds shifted their focus back to Mythic+ farming, potentially to bolster their gear before returning to the Mythic raid. Echo made their best attempt yet, bringing Ovi’nax down to 64.75% before deciding to regroup and reassess their composition.

Method, meanwhile, incorporated two Blood Death Knight tanks and two Augmentation Evokers into their roster to enhance AoE DPS during critical phases. This new approach allowed them to improve their progress to 41%, showing strong potential but leaving them behind Liquid in the race.

End Myth’s Progress

The Taiwanese guild End Myth made steady progress throughout the day. They reached a best pull of 62.21% on Broodtwister Ovi’nax after 13 attempts. By the end of the day, they managed to push the boss down to 64.76%, a considerable improvement. Their perseverance and fine-tuning of strategies have placed them in competition with some of the leading guilds, although they still trail behind the top three contenders.

Day 3: Guild Rankings and Progress

With many teams still working on Broodtwister Ovi’nax, the race is far from over. Guilds like Instant Dollars and Vulgar have made notable progress, while others, such as Cope and Entropy, are still in the fight but need to recuperate after long, exhausting sessions.

Strategy and Adjustments

Liquid’s victory on Broodtwister Ovi’nax didn’t come easy. They adapted their raid composition multiple times, ultimately opting for Beast Mastery Hunters to increase their efficiency in single-target damage. Their two-tank setup also allowed them to better manage the boss’s empowered add phases. Max, Liquid’s raid leader, shared that while Broodtwister Ovi’nax was challenging, they expect even tougher fights ahead, particularly with Nexus-Princess Ky’veza.

Looking Ahead

With Liquid now leading the race at 5/8M, they have set their sights on Nexus-Princess Ky’veza, bringing her down to 75.04% on their fourth pull and improving to 67.34% on their 18th pull later in the day. September 20: Day 4

The Race to World First (RWF) for Nerub’ar Palace continued to deliver intense action on Day 4, as top guilds made substantial progress, with some facing heart-wrenching near kills and others achieving significant breakthroughs.

Liquid Focuses on Nexus-Princess Ky’veza

After defeating Broodtwister Ovi’nax, Liquid shifted their focus to Nexus-Princess Ky’veza. They spent much of the day fine-tuning their strategy, incorporating roster changes, and adapting to the enrage mechanics. Liquid’s best pull of the day brought Ky’veza down to 21.01% on their 143rd pull, narrowly missing a kill. With the nerf Blizzard implemented—reducing Ky’veza’s HP from 8 billion to 7.52 billion and decreasing Queensbane DoT damage by 10%—Liquid made solid progress, but the boss’s enrage continued to be a significant hurdle. Liquid finished the day confident that a kill is imminent, planning to resume with a refreshed lineup after rest.

Echo Claims World Second on Broodtwister Ovi’nax

Echo secured the World Second kill on Broodtwister Ovi’nax after 90 pulls, solidifying their position as one of the top contenders in the race. Afterward, they quickly shifted their focus to Nexus-Princess Ky’veza, where they made rapid progress, bringing the boss down to 44.54% before encountering the enrage for the first time. Echo continues to push hard, with analysts keeping an eye on Liquid’s strategies, although they are working behind the scenes for now.

Method Secures World Third on Broodtwister Ovi’nax

After several near kills, including a devastating 0.24% wipe, Method finally managed to claim the World Third kill on Broodtwister Ovi’nax after 134 pulls. This accomplishment came after persistent efforts and server struggles, but the team pressed on and successfully overcame the boss. Method now turns their attention to Nexus-Princess Ky’veza, where they aim to follow closely behind Liquid and Echo.

Huoguo Hero and End Myth Progress on Broodtwister

The Chinese guild Huoguo Hero made impressive strides, reducing Broodtwister Ovi’nax to a mere 1.43%, a best pull that puts them within striking distance of claiming a kill soon. Meanwhile, End Myth, after more than 200 pulls, managed to bring Broodtwister down to 21.87%. The guild is showing resilience but still trails behind in the race.

Echo then took a break to focus on Mythic+ splits to boost their gear before resuming their Ky’veza attempts.

Liquid Pushes Ky’veza to the Brink

The standout performance of the day came from Liquid, who made significant improvements on Ky’veza. After bringing the boss down to 21% the previous day, Liquid started Day 5 strong, immediately pushing Ky’veza to 14.65% on their first pull. Their momentum continued as they made rapid progress, achieving a best pull of 8.29% and then 7.80%, leaving them just one final push away from securing the kill.

By the end of the day, Liquid reached a heart-stopping 3.25%, after 199 pulls. The raid is now on the verge of overcoming Ky’veza, with the guild opting to push through instead of farming splits. Many believe that Liquid’s 200th pull could be the charm to secure the World First Ky’veza kill.

September 22, Day 6

The Race to World First continued to push guilds to their limits, with Liquid securing the World First kill of Nexus-Princess Ky’veza after a grueling battle that spanned 304 pulls. This achievement marked a major milestone in the Nerub’ar Palace race, with several other guilds hot on their heels.

Liquid’s World First Kill on Ky’veza

After 15 hours of intense progression, Liquid finally triumphed over Nexus-Princess Ky’veza with their 304th pull, using a one-tank strategy supported by a Vantus Rune to maximize their output. Their efforts culminated in a near-flawless execution after several heartbreaking low-percentage wipes, including a dramatic 0.73% wipe earlier in the day. Liquid’s victory put them at the forefront of the race, with only The Silken Court and Queen Ansurek left in their path.

Echo Secures World Second on Ky’veza

Echo followed closely behind, securing the World Second kill on Ky’veza after 256 pulls. Echo had a steady progression day, refining their strategy and roster adjustments to bring Ky’veza down to 2.68% on their 246th pull before ultimately defeating the boss. They wasted no time and immediately began working on The Silken Court, experimenting with new strategies to handle the complex mechanics of the fight.

Method’s Near Misses

Method also made substantial progress on Ky’veza, but despite several attempts that brought the boss below 10%, they were unable to secure the World Third kill. Their best attempt of the day reached 1.28%, making them the next guild in line for a potential Ky’veza kill. With 184 pulls invested, Method remains a serious contender as they continue to fine-tune their approach.

September 23: Day 7

The Race to World First (RWF) is nearing its climactic finale as Liquid continues to dominate the leaderboard with another impressive World First kill, this time on The Silken Court. With only Queen Ansurek remaining, the pressure is on for the other top guilds to catch up. Day 7 brought a mix of dramatic near-kills, key hotfixes, and evolving strategies as the competition reached new heights.

Liquid’s World First on The Silken Court

After 171 pulls, Liquid secured the World First kill on The Silken Court, marking yet another major milestone in their RWF campaign. Liquid’s performance was particularly impressive given the newly implemented hotfixes that increased the difficulty of Piercing Strike—pushing guilds to adopt a two-tank strategy. Despite this challenge, Liquid’s adaptability and consistent progression allowed them to overcome the boss, with their final pull hitting at just the right moment. The victory leaves Queen Ansurek as the last boss standing in the raid, with Liquid now setting their sights on the final challenge.

Echo and Method Progress on Silken Court

Both Echo and Method made substantial progress on The Silken Court, but Liquid’s lead remains strong. Echo managed to bring the boss down to 50.6% on their best pull before calling it a night, while Method achieved a best pull of 59%. Echo’s decision to rest leaves Method with a small window to catch up, but both guilds will need to refine their strategies further if they hope to close the gap.

Huoguo Hero Closes in on Ky’veza Kill

In a heartbreaking moment for Huoguo Hero, the Chinese guild had a 0.47% wipe on Nexus-Princess Ky’veza after more than 300 pulls. They continue to battle for a World Fourth kill, but as they inch closer to victory, the tension is palpable. The team also faced another near miss at 5%, raising expectations that a kill is imminent. Huoguo Hero’s persistence in this tough encounter has been one of the highlights of the RWF, and their success could come at any moment.

Broodtwister Ovi’nax Still Challenging Lower Guilds

Several guilds are still struggling to overcome Broodtwister Ovi’nax, with xD, Reversion, Honestly, and Ethical all reporting pulls hovering around the 26-38% range. Progress on Ovi’nax remains slow, with guilds like Synergy and LAGET inching closer to potential kills. Meanwhile, Banhammer secured the World 10th kill on Ovi’nax, marking a major milestone for the Russian guild.

Liquid Faces Challenges in Phase 3

Stay tuned as the Race to World First nears its final moments!

September 27: Day 11

The Race to World First (RWF) in Nerub’ar Palace continues to see incremental progress as Liquid, Echo, and Method struggle to push through the Queen Ansurek encounter, while guilds like Jitianhong and ZboX inch forward on The Silken Court. The raid’s complexity is becoming more evident, leading to slower progress for most guilds. Meanwhile, a major setback hit Huoguo Hero, knocking them out of contention due to a raid lockout reset issue, a devastating blow to the previously top-4 guild.

Echo and Liquid Battle for Phase 3 on Queen Ansurek

Echo and Liquid are locked in a tight race on Queen Ansurek, with both guilds making it to Phase 3 but facing significant challenges. Echo hit their best pull at 44.84%, showing steady improvement with a nearly 8-minute-long pull, but encountered difficulties handling the Phase 3 adds. Liquid, on the other hand, managed to push the boss down to 30.1% in one of their best attempts and later improved it to 25.72%, but the constant stream of adds and the demanding mechanics of Phase 3 are proving to be a major obstacle. Both guilds are grappling with Acolyte mechanics, and despite a small Queen Ansurek nerf that reduced Acolyte’s Essence damage by 12.5% and Royal Condemnation by 8%, progress has been slow.

Method: Slow but Steady Progress on Queen Ansurek

Method is also making progress on Queen Ansurek, although at a slower pace. They reached 65.93% on their best attempt after several days of pulls. Their strategy is evolving, and with Phase 3 insight, they are looking to close the gap between themselves and Echo and Liquid.

Jitianhong and ZboX: Battle on The Silken Court

Both Jitianhong and ZboX are still battling their way through The Silken Court. Jitianhong improved their best pull to 57.9%, passing the first intermission and pushing toward the second, while ZboX is close behind, reaching 61.1% on their best attempt. These two guilds are competing for the World Fifth kill on The Silken Court, with Jitianhong currently slightly ahead.

Huoguo Hero Faces Heartbreaking Setback

In a shocking turn of events, Huoguo Hero, which had been progressing on Queen Ansurek and was in the top 4, lost all their progress due to a raid lockout reset issue. The guild, which had already defeated 7/8 bosses, was reset to 0/8, a devastating blow that will likely take them out of contention for a top finish. This unfortunate incident has drawn sympathy from the wider community, as it was a major setback for a guild that had performed so well up to this point.

End Myth Secures World 7th on Ky’veza

End Myth finally secured the World Seventh kill on Ky’veza after a long battle of 480 pulls, putting them in the top 7 for Nerub’ar Palace progression. Following this, FatSharkYes claimed the World Eighth kill, further advancing the progression race.

Blizzard Nerfs Queen Ansurek

As guilds struggled with the Queen Ansurek encounter, Blizzard implemented a nerf to help smooth the difficulty curve. The nerf targeted Phase 3, reducing Acolyte’s Essence damage by 12.5% and Royal Condemnation damage by 8%, but the change had only a small impact. Liquid saw minor improvement, but both they and Echo continued to hit brick walls in the final stages.

  • Jitianhong and ZboX continue progressing on The Silken Court, with both guilds hovering around the 60% mark.
  • End Myth claimed the World Seventh kill on Ky’veza, while FatSharkYes secured the World Eighth.

Looking Ahead:

The Race to World First has slowed down as guilds struggle with the final boss, Queen Ansurek, and the challenging mechanics of Phase 3. However, with some guilds close to victory, the next few days could be pivotal. The Blizzard nerfs may help slightly, but it is unclear if any further changes will be needed to push the guilds past this roadblock. Meanwhile, Jitianhong and ZboX continue their battle for World Fifth on The Silken Court.

WoW Race to World First FAQ

  • What is Race to World First (RWF)? The Race to World First is a community-driven event where the top guilds from around the world compete to be the first to clear the latest Mythic raid. It’s a showcase of the best raiders, strategy, and teamwork.
  • What are “Splits” in RWF? Splits are runs organized by guilds to farm gear from lower difficulties (Heroic or Normal). Guilds form multiple groups, and the goal is to funnel the best gear to their core raiders, helping them prepare for the hardest fights in Mythic. This gear advantage gives top guilds an edge in Mythic progression.
  • Why do guilds offer boosting services after RWF? After the Race to World First, top guilds like Echo, Liquid, and Method often offer boosting services to help fund their race efforts. These services involve helping players complete difficult content, like Mythic Amirdrassil or Mythic Nerub’ar Palace, in exchange for in-game gold. This gold is then used to repay the immense costs incurred during the RWF, including resources, gear, and assistance from dedicated players.

Looking Ahead

With the Nerub’ar Palace race complete, the focus now shifts to the next Mythic raid. We can expect these top guilds to continue honing their skills and strategies in preparation for future raids, where they will once again battle for Race to World First dominance.
