The War Within Blacksmithing Recipes in Midnight: Quick Answer
Updated 12 October 2026 for Midnight patch 12.1 (Curse of Ula’tek), Season 2. Midnight Blacksmithing details are from Method’s guide (14 March 2026) and its 12.1 profession summary; crafted gear item levels are from Warcraft Wiki’s Season 2 page.
The War Within (Khaz Algar) Blacksmithing plans, the Everforged and Charged gear and the Everburning Forge, no longer matter for current raids or Mythic+. Season 2 crafted plate and weapons come from the Midnight skill line, learned from Bemarrin in Silvermoon. The old recipes are only worth a visit for housing decor.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Where do I learn Midnight Blacksmithing? | Bemarrin, west side of the Bazaar in Silvermoon, south of the bridge to the Isle of Quel’danas (Eversong Woods 43.87, 51.77) |
| Materials | Two ranks instead of three. Ores: Refulgent Copper, Umbral Tin, Brilliant Silver, Dazzling Thorium |
| Everburning Forge | Removed. The specialization tree The Old Ways gives its buffs without an item |
| Pairs well with | Mining, Engineering or Jewelcrafting (Method) |
| 12.1 change | Odious Alloy, the Hunter’s Ritual Stone embellishment, three housing items and one free knowledge reset per profession |
What Happened to the TWW Blacksmithing Recipes
The War Within plans now sit in a separate Khaz Algar skill line. The main Season 1 groups, all still listed on Wowhead, were:
| Group | War Within examples |
|---|---|
| Alloys | Core Alloy, Ironclaw Alloy, Sanctified Alloy, Charged Alloy |
| Plate armor | Everforged Armor set, Dredger’s Developed armor set |
| Weapons | Charged weapons (Halberd, Hexsword, Claymore, Crusher), Everforged weapons (Warglaive, Dagger, Greataxe, Longsword, Mace), Ironclaw weapons |
| Embellished gear | Beledar’s Bulwark, Sanctified Steps |
| Forge | Everburning Forge and Everburning Ignition (replaced in Midnight by The Old Ways) |
We left out ingredient counts because we could not verify them. Current raid and Mythic+ gear no longer uses these recipes. Like Alchemy, the old tier is useful for housing decor: each crafting profession can make decor from earlier expansions once you reach about 80% of that skill line. Older decor needs older materials, and Icy Veins reports (before 12.1.5 went live) that decor costs for pre-Midnight recipes would be cut. See our Midnight housing guide.
How Midnight Blacksmithing Works
- Gear and weapons: plate armor and weapons, profession tools, alloys, and temporary enhancements such as the Refulgent Whetstone. Examples named by guides are Spellbreaker’s Girdle and Magister’s Ritual Knife.
- Epic profession gear is Bind on Pickup and ordered through work orders. Uncommon and rare gear can be traded on the Auction House.
- Moxie is profession-specific and only buys recipes from vendors. You cannot use it to recraft.
- Alloys: Refulgent Copper Ingot, Gloaming Alloy and Sterling Alloy; patch 12.1 adds Odious Alloy (Umbral Tin Ore, Luminant Flux and Refulgent Copper Ingot).
- Race bonuses: Dark Iron Dwarf (+5 skill and +10% crafting speed), Light-Forged Draenei (+5 skill, summons a forge), Kul Tiran (+2 to all profession skills).
Leveling Blacksmithing to 50
Method’s route for the first 50 points needs about 325 Refulgent Copper Ore, 161 Luminant Flux and 65 Refulgent Copper Ingot.
| Skill | What to craft |
|---|---|
| 1-15 | Refulgent Copper Ingot |
| 15-30 | With The Old Ways: Blood-Tempered Greaves, Chestplate, Bracers and Greatbelt; a Thalassian Sickle, Pickaxe or Skinning Knife; the Thalassian Blacksmith’s Hammer; Dawnforged Ritual Knife and Edge; Primalforged Heavy Axe; Dawnforged Long Blade |
| 30-50 | Blood-Tempered Bulwark, Gauntlets, Basinet and Pauldrons; Dawnforged War Mace; three Primalforged Knuckles |
PvP recipes (weaponsmith and armorsmith) are Bind on Equip, found in battlegrounds or bought with Honor, give guaranteed skill-ups until 60 and turn green at 65. The gear plans for your own tools are the Sunforged Blacksmith’s Hammer, Thalassian Blacksmith’s Toolbox and Earthen Forgemaster’s Apron pattern.
Midnight Blacksmithing Specializations and Knowledge Points
The first specialization is The Old Ways, with the sub-specialization Resourceful Smith (Resourcefulness). The second opens at 50, and more at 60 and 75.
| Tree | Path |
|---|---|
| Weaponsmithing | Hafted Weapons (4 recipes), then the Blades wheel (Long and Short Blades, 5 recipes) |
| Armorsmithing | Articulating Armor (Belts, Vambracers), Large Plate (opens Shields), Sculpted Armor and Sabatons, Gauntlets |
Guides suggest Prolific Worker (Multicraft) and Second Nature (Ingenuity) first if you spend Concentration on silver-material alloys, and Resourceful Smith (Resourcefulness) then Second Nature if you craft armor. Knowledge points (Method):
| Source | Knowledge points |
|---|---|
| Weekly quest | 2 |
| Patron crafting orders | 16 per week |
| Repeatable treasures and drops | 4 per week |
| Treatise (Inscription) | 1 per week |
| 8 profession treasures | 3 each, one time |
| Renown 9 with The Singularity: 10 Blacksmithing Knowledge from Void Researcher Anomander (75 Moxie, 750 Voidlight Marl) | 10, one time |
| Darkmoon Faire quest Writing the Future from Sayge | 3 knowledge and 2 skill |
| First craft of a new recipe | 1 |
Season 2 Crafted Gear: Item Levels and Costs
Crafted gear sits at the end of the gearing path: it fills holes left by raid and Mythic+ drops rather than replacing the early climb. Per Warcraft Wiki’s Season 2 page:
| Track | Cost per craft | Item level (rank 1 to 5) |
|---|---|---|
| Base (no track) | – | 259, 262, 265, 268, 271 |
| Adventurer | 80 Adventurer Mistcrests | 266 to 279 |
| Veteran | 80 Veteran Mistcrests | 279 to 292 |
| Champion | 2 to 4 Sparks of Tides | 292 to 305 |
| Hero | 80 Hero Mistcrests and 2 to 4 Sparks of Tides | 305 to 318 |
| Myth | 80 Myth Mistcrests and 2 to 4 Sparks of Tides | 318 to 331 |
Crests are capped at 100 per week per type, and you can only get one Spark of Tides per week. Higher ranks need Concentration or a strong specialization, because you cannot skip the skill needed for rank 5 by learning everything at once. The Voidforge, expected later in the season, will let you add 10 Ascendant Venomstones to a crafted weapon (or a trinket or necklace) raising a Hero piece from 322 to 331 and a Myth piece from 335 to 344.
Concentration and Embellishments
- Concentration caps at 1,000, refills 1 point every 6 minutes and guarantees the next quality rank. Part of it is refunded when Ingenuity procs.
- Midnight removed bronze-rank reagents, so Gold quality can be forced with Concentration at once.
- Season 2 added five embellishments (Method): most go on any crafted slot, two only on weapons. Patch 12.1 adds the Hunter’s Ritual Stone, which grants secondary stats while doing Prey.
- Housing items from 12.1: Amani Forgemaster’s Decorative Spear, Rack and Workbench.
What Patch 12.1 Changed for Blacksmithing
Patch 12.1 (11 August 2026) added Odious Alloy, the three Amani Forgemaster housing recipes and the Hunter’s Ritual Stone. It also added the gathered materials Neutralized Venom Clot and Cursebound Globe, shared with other professions, and a free knowledge reset once per Midnight profession. Blizzard’s 12.1.5 notes of 1 October do not mention professions. More in our Midnight profession changes guide.
Is Blacksmithing Worth It in Season 2?
Icy Veins’ gold-making tier list (11 August 2026) puts Blacksmithing in A tier, below Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Tailoring and Alchemy potions. It is a plate and weapon crafter for yourself first and a seller second. See our best Midnight professions guide for pairings.
