Holy Priest in Midnight Season 2 at a Glance
Everything below was read on 12 October 2026 against patch 12.1 and Midnight Season 2. Patch 12.1.5 (13 October) moves two Holy talents, described below.
Holy Priest is a reactive healer: you watch the damage your group takes and answer with the right spell from a large kit. Everything is organized around two Holy Words, Holy Word: Serenity (single target) and Holy Word: Sanctify (group), whose cooldowns shrink every time you cast other healing spells. Prayer of Mending is the efficient workhorse, and Apotheosis plus Divine Hymn are the two big cooldowns.

Where Holy Priest Ranks in Season 2
The grading lists and the logs disagree about Holy Priest. Icy Veins and Method both grade it B; their S-tier healers are Holy Paladin (both lists) and Restoration Shaman (Icy Veins). wow.gg’s top-100 data for week 8 (10 October) puts Holy Priest first by raw healing in both modes. The three healers side by side:

Holy Priest out-heals the two S-tier healers by about 5% and 10% in Mythic+ and by about 16% and 10% in raid. The grades are overall judgments, while wow.gg only measures healing per second, and raw HPS also includes overhealing, so treat it as a ceiling, not a measure of how much your group feels. What Changed in Patch 12.1 and 12.1.5
In 12.1 (Curse of Ula’tek) Holy got cheaper mana costs, more healing and a change to how Benediction works. From Icy Veins’ summary of the patch notes:
- All healing increased by 16%.
- Apotheosis now reduces the mana cost of Holy Words by 70% (was 50%).
- Flash Heal and Prayer of Healing cost 10% less mana. Prayer of Mending heals 20% more.
- Divine Hymn also grants Guardian Spirit while channelled (it adds 5 seconds to an existing Guardian Spirit on you).
- Resonant Energy (Archon) was redesigned: creating a Halo increases your healing by 2% for 10 seconds, stacking up to 4 times.
- Oracle: Prompt Prognosis healing +30%.
- Apex talent Benediction: healing +15%, mana cost -30%. Holy Word: Serenity now has a 100% chance to upgrade your next Flash Heal to Benediction, and Apotheosis no longer does that.
The practical effect is that Benediction is more reliable and more important to press whenever it is up.
Patch 12.1.5 (13 October): Holy Celerity and Ultimate Serenity swap places in the Holy talent tree. Blizzard says Ultimate Serenity moves higher so you need less investment to take it, leaving more choice beyond the second gate.
Holy Priest Priority List and Mana Tips
There is no fixed rotation, but Icy Veins gives this raid priority. Skip a spell that would mostly overheal:
- Holy Word: Serenity on an injured ally.
- Prayer of Mending on cooldown, preferably on an injured ally.
- Benediction on an injured ally.
- Flash Heal on an injured ally.
- Holy Nova while moving or when little healing is needed.
- Smite when no healing is needed.
Treat Holy Word: Serenity, Holy Word: Sanctify and Prayer of Mending as rotational spells, cast almost as soon as they are ready. Casting Flash Heal while Serenity is available, or Prayer of Healing while Sanctify is available, is a mistake. Use Apotheosis and Divine Hymn regularly.

Apotheosis triples this reduction, which is why Prayer of Mending, Flash Heal (with Archon’s Energy Cycle and a Surge of Light proc) and Halo before or during Apotheosis become high priority. Ultimate Serenity moves all Sanctify reductions onto Serenity.
Mana
If you run out of mana, use the efficient spells more (Divine Hymn, Apotheosis, Serenity, Prayer of Mending) and to cast Holy Nova and Smite when allies need no healing. That saves mana you would waste on overheal and triggers more Surge of Light procs. Surge of Light also lets you cast the next related spell while moving.

Apex talent: Benediction. Periodic Prayer of Mending bounces turn your next Flash Heal into Benediction, which heals more and triggers a Cosmic Ripple. Rank 2 adds healing, and rank 3 makes every Divine Hymn pulse trigger Cosmic Ripple and lets Serenity upgrade your next Flash Heal. Procs per minute are normalized, so Oracle does not get more than Archon: cast Prayer of Mending as often as possible with either.
Capstones. Ultimate Serenity is popular because it fits the tree and simplifies the rotation. Lasting Words is a solid passive healing increase. Divine Image is a small increase that is easy to take with either. Lightweaver changes the Prayer of Healing cycle but needs more mana, is less forgiving and is generally avoided.

Tier set: Cosmic Penitent Raiment for Holy
- 2-set: each target affected by your Renew raises your critical strike chance, up to a cap.
- 4-set: Renew becomes a stronger heal, and through Light’s Resurgence the first target your Prayer of Mending heals also receives a Renew.
Icy Veins calls the set largely passive with no major gameplay changes; it simply rewards casting Prayer of Mending as often as possible. How to get it: Midnight Tier Sets.

In raid the secondaries are close in value, with a small edge for Critical Strike. In Mythic+ you can drink often, so raw throughput stats matter, and damage-reducing Versatility helps you survive the highest keys. Mastery: Echo of Light puts a healing-over-time effect on the target of each direct heal and increases Renew.
Trinkets and gear
The best-in-slot trinkets are Soulcoiler Ritual Vessel and Gebbo’s Bottomless Bag, with Wavecaller’s Seastone or Lightspire Core as runner-ups. The weapon is Jan’thrazet, the Soul Fang from Ula’tek, and tailoring provides the waist and bracers.
