Discipline Priest Addons in Midnight: What Still Works

Updated 12 October 2026 for Midnight patch 12.1. Addon versions change weekly, so check each addon’s page before you install.

WeakAuras has no version for Midnight retail. Since the 12.0 pre-patch, combat information such as buffs, cooldowns and enemy casts is hidden from addon code as “secret values”: addons can display it but not read it and act on it. That ended the old Discipline setup of custom Atonement and cooldown auras. What remains is a smaller toolkit: raid frames that show Atonement, one or two small tracking addons, Blizzard’s own Cooldown Manager and boss timeline, and macros.

You need What to use in 12.1
Raid frames with Atonement timers Danders Frames, Grid2 or EllesmereUI RaidFrames; Blizzard’s default frames are “fairly usable” in 12.1 (Method)
Atonement count Power Word: Toolbox or Atonements-Tracker
Click-casting Clicked, or Danders Frames’ built-in click-casting; Blizzard’s mouseover cast option
Healing meter Details!, or Blizzard’s built-in meter
Boss timers BigWigs or DBM, plus Blizzard’s boss timeline
Group cooldowns (Pain Suppression, Barrier) OmniCD
Cooldown icons for your own spells Blizzard’s Cooldown Manager

The wider picture, including why WeakAuras stopped, is in our Midnight addons guide. Which healer to play is a separate question, covered in Midnight Best Healers (Discipline is B tier on Icy Veins and Method in early October 2026).

Tracking Atonement Without WeakAuras

Atonement is what Discipline lives on, so tracking it matters most. Three options still exist in the sources we checked; all are dated, so test them before a raid night.

Addon What it does Last update we found
Danders Frames Raid frame enhancements and click-casting, with an Atonement duration timer on each target 14 May 2026 (ReadyCheck.fyi)
Power Word: Toolbox A Discipline HUD with Radiance charges, Power Infusion targets, Void Shield proc odds and the total number of active Atonements, colour-coded by expiry 19 May 2026 (ReadyCheck.fyi)
Atonements-Tracker Two things: when the first Atonement expires and how many are out v1.1.3, 24 March 2026 (CurseForge, listed for Midnight 12.x)
Details! Damage Meter Shows how much of your healing comes from Atonement 16 May 2026 (ReadyCheck.fyi)

We did not find a source that confirms any of these on patch 12.1 specifically. Patch 12.1 added a new aura display system so that addons can show filtered sets of auras in their own layout without reading the underlying data, and addons that display auras need updates for it. If an addon stops showing Atonement after an update, that is the likely cause.

How much precision you need. In Midnight, Atonement healing scales with the number of injured allies who have the buff, with diminishing returns: the first five provide about 70% of its value (Method). Evangelism applies five by itself. Spreading it wider with your normal buttons is not worth much, so you can aim for a high count only during Evangelism or Ultimate Penitence ramps and use a simple count rather than per-target timers.

Raid Frames and Click-Casting

  • Blizzard’s default frames. Method (17 September) calls them fairly usable in 12.1.0 and notes that you can filter which buffs appear. Turn on mouseover casting in Options, Combat, Mouseover Cast.
  • Danders Frames. Atonement timers per target and click-casting in one addon; listed first by ReadyCheck.fyi for Discipline.
  • Grid2. Deep customization and still reasonably easy to learn. A Method guide for another healer names it as its main recommendation.
  • EllesmereUI RaidFrames and ElvUI. Method lists both. ElvUI is a full interface replacement, so use it only if you want one UI and accept the setup work.
  • Clicked binds mouse buttons to direct heals over raid frames (ReadyCheck.fyi).
  • Cell, VuhDo and HealBot. We could not confirm their status for Midnight 12.1. The Cell developer said in January 2026 that it would not support the pre-patch, so check each addon’s page before you rely on it.

Discipline Priest Macros for Midnight

Macros are unchanged by the addon restrictions, because they use Blizzard’s own targeting. These four are from Method’s Discipline interface page (17 September 2026). Replace the spell name to reuse them.

Macro What it does
Angelic Feather Casts at your feet; hold Alt to cast at the cursor for an ally
Spell Mouseover Casts a spell on your mouseover target, and on your current target if you are not hovering anyone
Cast at Cursor Instant ground-targeted spell at the cursor. Method suggests it for Mass Dispel but not for Power Word: Barrier, because Barrier placement matters
Power Infusion Targets your focus first, then mouseover, then your target or yourself; living targets only
#showtooltip Angelic Feather
/cast [@player, nomod] Angelic Feather; [@cursor, mod:alt] Angelic Feather
#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,exists][] SPELL_NAME
#showtooltip
/cast [@cursor] Mass Dispel
#showtooltip
/cast [@focus,exists,help,nodead][@mouseover,help,nodead][] Power Infusion

For Pain Suppression, the same pattern works with a living friendly mouseover target. This line is our adaptation of Method’s mouseover template, not a Method macro:

#showtooltip Pain Suppression
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][] Pain Suppression

Cast Power Infusion on allies, not on yourself, as Method advises.

Boss Timers, Meters and Cooldown Trackers

  • BigWigs or DBM. Method names both for boss warnings and timelines. Both still work in Midnight but read less during encounters, so use them with Blizzard’s boss timeline.
  • OmniCD. Group cooldown tracking, mainly for Pain Suppression and Power Word: Barrier. Last update listed 27 February 2026.
  • BetterCooldownManager. On-screen timers for Rapture, Barrier and Divine Hymn, but ReadyCheck.fyi’s newest file for it was from 22 April 2026 (patch 12.0.5) and it was not updated for 12.1 at the time.
  • Plater or Platynator. Nameplates, as Method lists for Discipline.
  • BugSack and BugGrabber. Catch Lua errors quietly instead of popping them up during a pull.
  • Details! Gives per-spell healing, absorbs and overhealing. Blizzard’s built-in damage meter is tracked on the server and is enough for most players.

What Your Screen Needs for Discipline in 12.1

Method’s Discipline guide (17 September) gives these timings. Keep them visible and the rest is detail.

Thing to watch Why (Method)
Atonement count on raid frames Healing from Atonement scales with the number of injured allies who have it, up to the first five providing about 70% of its value
Evangelism No longer extends Atonements. It applies five and makes the next two Power Word: Radiance instant
Ultimate Penitence (4-minute cooldown) Used mainly offensively in raids; gives a large shield during the channel
Pain Suppression 50% damage reduction; use it on tanks just before big hits. Protector of the Frail adds a charge, and Power Word: Shield reduces its cooldown
Power Word: Barrier 20% damage reduction. Use it over Ultimate Penitence only if the value is guaranteed
Power Infusion Put it on an ally with the macro above

Hero talent. Method recommends Voidweaver for raid (higher healing, but you must stand still to cast Void Blast) and Oracle for Mythic+ (steadier and easier to play, with an extra Penance charge). If your fight has a lot of movement, Oracle is the better pick. A Voidweaver player should keep the Entropic Rift window in view so that Void Blast casts are not wasted.

A Minimal Setup

  1. Turn on Blizzard’s mouseover cast option. Make the four macros above.
  2. Keep Blizzard’s raid frames, or install Danders Frames for Atonement timers and click-casting.
  3. Add Power Word: Toolbox or Atonements-Tracker only if you want a count on screen.
  4. Install BigWigs (or DBM) and BugSack.
  5. Add Details!, OmniCD and Plater when the basics feel comfortable.

After each patch, update all addons before you log in, then check BugSack once. If you want a better character to run this on, the Season 2 tier set and gear plan are in our Midnight tier sets guide.

Discipline Priest Addons FAQ

Does WeakAuras work for Discipline Priest in Midnight?
No. There is no retail Midnight version of WeakAuras. It is still maintained for Classic.

How do I track Atonement in Midnight?
Use Danders Frames for per-target timers, or Power Word: Toolbox or Atonements-Tracker for a count. Check that the version you install supports patch 12.1.

Can macros still target allies?
Yes. Mouseover, focus and cursor macros are not limited by the addon changes.

Which raid frames should a Discipline Priest use?
Danders Frames, Grid2 or EllesmereUI RaidFrames, or Blizzard’s default frames with mouseover casting turned on.

Are my old Discipline WeakAuras strings useful?
No. They do not import into any Midnight addon. Rebuild only the few cooldowns you need in Blizzard’s Cooldown Manager.
