Orlando Salvatore, a developer renowned for his work on Plunderstorm, MoP Remix, and many other exciting projects, has announced his departure from Blizzard after nearly five years.
Orlando Salvatore, developer of Plunderstorm, has left Blizzard.
As a Lead Software Engineer at Blizzard, he played a pivotal role in some of the company’s most innovative projects. His contributions include:
- Plunderstorm: The first-ever 60-player battle royale in World of Warcraft.
- Mists of Pandaria Remix (MoP Remix): A fresh take on one of the most beloved expansions, allowing players to quickly level from 10 to 70, blending nostalgia with new experiences for both veterans and newcomers.
- Follower dungeons: An innovative mechanic enabling players to bring NPCs into dungeons, where they fill various team roles.
- Gear update system
In his farewell message, Orlando expressed gratitude for the experiences he gained at Blizzard, reminiscing about the incredible moments spent with talented colleagues and the joy of creating memorable content. He also thanked mentors and peers like Holly Longdale, Mike Ybarra, John Hight, Jeremy Feasel (Muffinus), and Raymond Bartos for their invaluable support.
Orlando has not yet revealed his next steps but said, “I always want to push myself, grow, and become better. I love working on games and look forward to what’s next.”
