Class Tier List Overview
Updated 12 October 2026. WoW Forever launches on 4 November 2026 at level cap 60. The beta stops at level 30, so no ranking below is based on raid logs.
WoW Forever is Blizzard’s third version of the game, a Classic-based game with new zones, quests, dungeons and raids. The class talents were reworked for it, which is why old Classic tier lists cannot be trusted here. This page combines two early rankings, both dated 3 October 2026 and both built on beta talent trees: RankedBoost (class tiers and spec grades) and SeeMeta (a preliminary raid list). They agree on the broad shape and disagree on a few specs, which the spec table below shows.
| Tier | Classes (RankedBoost, 3 October 2026) |
|---|---|
| S | Paladin |
| A | Priest, Shaman, Warrior, Mage, Warlock, Hunter |
| B | Druid, Rogue |
| Key fact | Status |
|---|---|
| Launch | 4 November 2026, included in the normal WoW subscription |
| Level cap | 60 |
| Beta | 17 September to 22 October 2026, capped at level 30 since 1 October. Levels 31 to 60 and raids are not in the beta |
| Class changes | Talent trees revised for every class; new race and class combinations |
| Expect | Tiers to move after launch, when real raid logs exist |
Whatever class you land on, gearing up and stocking your bags takes time. If you would rather spend that time playing, you can buy WoW Forever gold and boosts at Onlyfarms.
S-Tier Classes
Paladin
RankedBoost puts Paladin alone in S because it is one of only two classes that can tank, heal and deal damage. By its spec grades, Protection is S while Retribution and Holy are A. SeeMeta is more cautious: Protection Paladin and Holy Paladin are A in its raid list, behind Protection Warrior as the top tank, and Retribution is C. Treat Paladin as the most flexible class and a safe pick for a group role, not as the strongest damage dealer.
If you only want one class that always has a place in a party, Paladin is it. If you want to top damage meters in raids, look at the warrior, rogue or mage rows below.
A-Tier Classes
Priest
Holy is S for healing in both lists (key talents Prayer of Mending and Spiritual Healing). Discipline is A in both, and Shadow is A for SeeMeta and B for RankedBoost.
Shaman
Restoration is S healing in both lists (Riptide and Purification are the named talents). Elemental and Enhancement are both A. All three specs have a place, which makes Shaman the most flexible class after Paladin.
Warrior
Protection Warrior is the top tank in SeeMeta and S in RankedBoost. Fury is S for SeeMeta (Bloodthirst, Flurry) and A for RankedBoost. Arms is B in both.
Mage
The lists disagree here. RankedBoost has Arcane at S, with Fire and Frost at B. SeeMeta has Fire at S, Arcane at A and Frost at C. Both rate Frost no higher than B for raids, though it is still a comfortable leveling choice. Mages also conjure their own food and water and can teleport and portal, as in Classic.
Warlock
Affliction and Destruction are A for SeeMeta. RankedBoost has Affliction A and Destruction and Demonology B. Demonology is B in both lists, so it suits solo play better than raiding.
Hunter
Beast Mastery is A in both. Marksmanship is A for SeeMeta and B for RankedBoost, and Survival is the reverse (A for RankedBoost, B for SeeMeta). Pets still do most of the tanking while you level.
B-Tier Classes
Druid
The class sits in B because only Restoration reaches the top: S for RankedBoost, A for SeeMeta. Balance is B in both. Feral is A as a tank for SeeMeta and B as a damage dealer in both. The class can fill every role, but each role has a better option elsewhere. RankedBoost moved Druid down from S to B as the beta talents became known.
Rogue
Rogue is B for RankedBoost, yet SeeMeta rates Combat Rogue as S (Adrenaline Rush and Aggression are the named talents). Assassination is A in both. Subtlety is B for SeeMeta and D for RankedBoost, so skip it unless you play for stealth and PvP fun.
Spec Tier List
Class tiers hide the big differences between specs. Here are both lists side by side, both dated 3 October 2026. “RB” is RankedBoost, “SM” is SeeMeta’s preliminary raid list. A dash means the source does not list that spec for the role.
| Spec | Role | RB | SM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protection Warrior | Tank | S | S |
| Protection Paladin | Tank | S | A |
| Feral Druid | Tank | B | A |
| Holy Priest | Healer | S | S |
| Restoration Shaman | Healer | S | S |
| Restoration Druid | Healer | S | A |
| Discipline Priest | Healer | A | A |
| Holy Paladin | Healer | A | A |
| Fury Warrior | DPS | A | S |
| Combat Rogue | DPS | B | S |
| Fire Mage | DPS | B | S |
| Arcane Mage | DPS | S | A |
| Affliction Warlock | DPS | A | A |
| Destruction Warlock | DPS | B | A |
| Beast Mastery Hunter | DPS | A | A |
| Marksmanship Hunter | DPS | B | A |
| Assassination Rogue | DPS | A | A |
| Elemental Shaman | DPS | A | A |
| Enhancement Shaman | DPS | A | A |
| Shadow Priest | DPS | B | A |
| Retribution Paladin | DPS | A | C |
| Survival Hunter | DPS | A | B |
| Arms Warrior | DPS | B | B |
| Balance Druid | DPS | B | B |
| Feral Druid (cat) | DPS | B | B |
| Subtlety Rogue | DPS | D | B |
| Demonology Warlock | DPS | B | B |
| Frost Mage | DPS | B | C |
Where both lists agree, the signal is real: Protection Warrior, Holy Priest and Restoration Shaman are S in both. The largest disagreements are Retribution Paladin (A against C) and Combat Rogue and Fire Mage (B against S). Both sources say they will replace these grades with raid-log data after launch. For the current raid damage order, see our WoW Forever DPS ranking, and for healers and tanks the guides on best healers and best tanks.
New race and class combinations
Your class pick also depends on your race. Blizzard has added combinations, among them Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, Undead Paladin, Human Hunter, Gnome Priest and Dwarf Shaman. The new Skyborne race can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid on both factions, Shaman on the Horde side and Mage on the Alliance side, but not Paladin. The Skyborne race needs a paid edition. The full list is in our race and class combinations guide.
Best Classes for New Players
If WoW Forever is your first Classic-style run, you want a class that forgives mistakes. Three classes fit that, and none depends on an uncertain tier:
- Hunter is the friendliest start. The pet takes hits, you attack from range, and Beast Mastery is A in both lists.
- Mage teaches kiting, crowd control and resource management, and conjures its own food and water.
- Paladin is hard to kill and can tank, heal or fight in melee, so you can try more than one role on a single character.
Pick one of these three and branch out later. Our best races guide covers which race to pair with it.
Best Classes for Leveling
Leveling to 60 in a Classic-style game takes weeks, so the best leveling classes spend little time eating, drinking and walking back from a graveyard. The beta ends at level 30, so nobody has tested these classes from 31 to 60 in Forever yet. The picks below rest on how their kits worked in Classic and on the revised talent trees, so treat them as likely, not proven.
- Mage gathers and kills groups of enemies, and its own food and water remove most downtime. Frost (rated B and C for raids) stays comfortable for leveling.
- Hunter levels with little recovery time: the pet tanks and you rarely take direct hits.
- Warlock pairs damage over time with demon pets and Life Tap to keep health and mana up. It trades speed for durability.
Best Classes for Solo Play
If you plan to quest alone, farm or do harder solo content, you want a class that can heal itself, control a fight and survive without help.
- Warlock is the usual solo pick: pets, damage over time and Life Tap. Demonology is the least favored raid spec in both lists, but solo play is where it fits.
- Hunter stays strong solo for the same reasons it levels well.
- Druid earns its place through forms that can tank, heal or deal damage when no one else is there to fill a role.

WoW Forever Class FAQ
What is the best class in WoW Forever?
There is no proven answer before launch. RankedBoost names Paladin as the only S-tier class, and SeeMeta puts Fury Warrior, Combat Rogue and Fire Mage at the top for damage. Both are based on beta talent trees.
When does WoW Forever launch?
4 November 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time.
What is the level cap?
60. The beta is capped at 30 until it ends on 22 October.
Are class talents the same as in Classic?
No. Blizzard reworked the talent trees for every class, while keeping the familiar layout, so a Classic Era tier list does not apply.
Which class is best for a first character?
Hunter, Mage or Paladin. All three are forgiving and have a clear role.
Which healer and tank specs rank highest?
Holy Priest, Restoration Shaman and Protection Warrior are S in both rankings.
