Solo Gold in Midnight Season 2: What Still Works

Solo gold in Midnight comes from three places: gathering routes, delves with mass pulls, and skinning. This page used to quote gold-per-hour ranges for each. We removed them because published figures disagree by a factor of 100 or more and depend on your realm’s prices, the patch and how many people farm the same items. Instead you get the routes and set-ups that guides from Icy Veins and Method agree on, plus a way to measure your own result.

One number we can source: a recent Icy Veins article puts group cloth farming in Harandar at about 30,000 gold per hour at the time of writing, and says better gear means more. Treat that as an upper-middle benchmark for a geared player, not as a promise.
Gathering Farm (Herbalism + Mining): The Chill Gold King
Gathering needs no combat and little gear, so it is the easiest place to start. It is not the highest-paying choice in every economy: Icy Veins currently places Mining, Herbalism and Skinning in B tier below crafting professions such as Enchanting, Alchemy and Blacksmithing, because materials were in glut earlier in the season. Check your server’s prices before committing.
Where to farm
- Zul’Aman is the dual-gathering zone Icy Veins recommends (Herbalism and Mining on one route).
- Herbs: Method calls Harandar probably the most herb-rich zone, though its overload results are weaker.
- Ore: Method recommends Eversong Woods for mining and warns that Harandar is the worst zone for ore.
Why it holds up
All new Midnight herbs go into potions, flasks and food, and ore goes into gear, gems and some consumables, so demand is steady. It does not depend on your character power. Icy Veins also suggests selling herbs on raid days, when crafters buy.
How to run the route properly
- Fly a loop, keep moving and do not backtrack. Use the FarmHud and Routes add-ons, which Icy Veins recommends.
- Open every chest on the way: selling BoE gear from them raises the hourly total.
- Check your profits with a gold-per-hour tool rather than guessing (see below).
Optimization Tips That Actually Matter
Icy Veins’ recommended set-up for gathering farms combines:
- Consumables: Darkmoon Firewater, Argentleaf Tea and a Haranir Phial of Finesse.
- Tools: Refulgent Razorstone applied to both your Mining and Herbalism tools.
- Stats: Finesse speeds up gathering; it is the stat to look for on tools and gear for a farm.
- Specialisation: pick the Herbalism and Mining nodes that raise yield and node efficiency.
Measure your real gold per hour
Two free tools do the arithmetic for you. The WorthIt add-on calculates gold per hour from your realm’s Auction House prices and includes Midnight farming data for herbs, mining, skinning and fishing. The Undermine Exchange tracks price moves on your server; Icy Veins recommends checking it before you commit to a farm. Recheck after patch 12.1.5, because new content and the first weeks of a patch shift prices.
Who this method is for:
- You want steady gold with minimal effort.
- You enjoy a relaxing loop and can multitask.
- You are undergeared or on a fresh level 90.
The downside is repetition and exposure to price glut. If you want something more engaging, the next method is for you.
Delve Farming: Active Gold + Fast Leveling
Delve farming trades some efficiency for engagement. The sources are split on experience: Wowhead lists Shadowguard Point (West Voidstorm, just north of the Abundant Voidburrow) as an efficient experience option when you pull as much as you can and AoE it down, while Icy Veins warns that repeat clears of a delve give minimal base experience and are not an efficient levelling method. The suggested level range for the delve is 80 to 90. We therefore no longer quote an experience-per-hour figure.
Gold from this farm comes from cloth and other drops and from BoE gear. Higher delve tiers also feed the Great Vault and crest supply, which matters more than raw gold for most players: see the Delver’s Journey guide.
Where to Farm
Shadowguard Point is a delve in Voidstorm. Its first event is called Calamitous, in which you overload Void Stabilizers while killing the ethereals you meet. Delve stories and Bountiful delves both rotate, so the best run this week is the one that is active in your game.
How the Farm Works (Step-by-Step)
- Enter the delve.
- Pull as many enemies as you can while moving.
- Stack them into one pack.
- AoE everything down.
- Loot, reset and repeat.
The better you group enemies, the higher your hourly return. Self-sustain matters more than damage: you survive the stack-up, and every death costs minutes.
Why Guardian Druid Is So Strong Here
Any spec that can survive a large pull and heal itself can run this farm. Guardian Druid is the usual pick because bear form gives high armor and self-healing, and a Druid keeps movement tools for the pull. Tailoring for cloth. Icy Veins’ group cloth farm in Harandar, which shares this mass-pull idea, uses a dedicated Tailoring specialisation to raise cloth yield.

Why This Farm Is So Valuable
It stacks four things in one hour: gold from drops, levelling progress, BoE gear and practice with your class. That makes it a good fit for alts rather than for a max-level player who only wants the highest hourly rate.
Skinning (Optional Third Method)
Icy Veins describes skinning in Bastion of Might (Voidstorm) as currently a very reliable way to make gold. The set-up is the same as for gathering: Darkmoon Firewater, Refulgent Razorstone, Haranir Phial of Finesse and Argentleaf Tea. Method adds that in the first days or weeks of an expansion, unskinned beasts left by questing players are common, while its high-value beasts spawn rarely and are a bonus.
It is better in a group than solo: more players kill more enemies and leave more skins. Solo it works, but it is the weakest of the three unless you optimise heavily.

New gold sinks in patch 12.1.5
The Sporebearer Fungal Strider, a utility mount with repair, mailbox, Auction House and transmog vendors, costs 5,000,000 gold (vendors cost extra) and leaves the game when Midnight ends. The 12.1.5 update also adds the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, a solo mega-dungeon style activity with a Tier 11 challenge, Mythic gear, cosmetics and titles, which may change what is worth farming.
