BIG PVP TIER LIST UPDATE for 11.2.5 — The War Within Season 3

Patch 11.2.5 delivers a major meta reshuffle in WoW PvP. Blizzard adjusted dominant specs like Retribution Paladin, Marks Hunter, and Enhancement Shaman—while slightly buffing Voidweaver Discipline Priest. Below is a breakdown of how these changes affect every role heading into mid-season 3.

⚔️ Meta note: PvP remains extremely fast-paced, widening the skill gap each season. Staying current with balance changes is crucial.

🔥 Melee DPS Changes

Blood Death Knight received damage nerfs after dominating 2v2 ladders with absurd burst. This adjustment tones down their out-of-control output.

Retribution Paladin Nerfs

Blizzard fixed a bug in the Herald of the Sun 2-set and reduced Herald damage and Healing Hands. The Healing Hands cooldown nerf mainly affects Lay on Hands, which is rarely used more than once per round — making the change mostly symbolic. Even so, Rets remain a powerful all-round spec with strong utility and tankiness.

Impact: Retribution stays A+ tier — nerfs reduce burst abuse but core strength remains.

Fatebound Rogue Fix

A bug fix to Fatebound Coin Heads increases consistency and slightly raises Assassination damage. Assa continues to be the top rogue spec in Solo Shuffle, with Outlaw and Sub remaining behind.

Enhancement Shaman Adjustments

Enhancement lost burst from Doom Winds and wolves, compensated by buffs to Stormstrike and Lightning Bolt. Historically, this pattern — burst nerfs traded for sustain — leaves Enhancement slightly weaker overall.

Verdict: Enhancement likely drops a tier but remains playable with consistent damage.

🏹 Ranged DPS Changes

Beast Mastery Hunter and Marksmanship Hunter received nerfs, targeting their over-tuned one-shot mechanics. BM’s Fenrir ability damage was reduced by 30% after a previous 4000% buff in 11.2. Even so, BM remains S-tier thanks to strong baseline pressure.

Marksman saw reductions to Rapid Fire, Aim Shot, and Black Arrow, hitting the Dark Ranger burst build hardest. It still performs well, especially in Sentinel variants.

Arcane Mage received a nerf to Layrinker, reducing burst potential from Echoing Arcane Blast cleave. Arcane loses some impact, while Frost remains the weakest mage spec.

🎯 Range Summary: BM stays dominant, Marks competitive, Arcane mid — Destro Warlock may sneak into S-tier at high ratings.

💚 Healer Tuning

Resto Druid

Reactive Resin was buffed and several bugs fixed — including an issue with last season’s tier set interacting with Soul of the Forest. While this boosts certain matchups (vs Evokers, Hunters, DHs), Resto Druid remains a mid-tier healer.

Mistweaver Monk

Received a 15% healing increase to Soothing Mist and Enveloping Mist. However, the spec still struggles with an identity crisis — less damage than Disc and less healing than Resto Druid — leaving it as the most punishable healer in the meta.

☯️ Outcome: Monks gain slight throughput but remain bottom-tier due to CC vulnerability.

Discipline Priest (Voidweaver)

Minor Atonement buff (~1% overall outside raid). Voidweaver stays strong in Arena and AWC play due to its damage-based healing and unique modifiers.

🩹 Healer Meta: Evokers and Disc Priests lead Season 3, with Resto and Monks trailing behind.

📊 Tier List Summary

  • S-Tier: Beast Mastery Hunter, Retribution Paladin, Evoker Healer
  • A-Tier: Assassination Rogue, Marksmanship Hunter, Discipline Priest
  • B-Tier: Enhancement Shaman, Resto Druid
  • C-Tier: Mistweaver Monk, Frost Mage
🧠 Takeaway: PvP in 11.2.5 is still burst-oriented but slightly healthier. Meta stabilizes around few dominant specs while allowing more class variety in mid brackets.
