Classic Hardcore Addons: Status in October 2026

Checked 12 October 2026 against the CurseForge pages of each addon.

Hardcore means one life: when your character dies, it is gone. Addons cannot save you, but the right ones show you what a mob does, where the vendor is and how much health it has left. This list was written in 2025 for the Anniversary Hardcore realm, so first a status check on the world around it:

  • The Anniversary Normal and PvP realms moved to Burning Crusade Classic on 13 January 2026. The Hardcore realm did not follow them, because Blizzard said Hardcore is built around the 1 to 60 journey. It stays in the pre-expansion era, according to Warcraft Wiki. There are no Hardcore Burning Crusade realms.
  • If a Hardcore character dies, Blizzard gives a free transfer to a non-Hardcore Classic Era realm to keep playing it (Warcraft Wiki).
  • Most addons below list Classic Era on CurseForge. The exceptions are marked in the tables.

For Hardcore, three of these matter most: Questie (you waste less time wandering into high-level zones), Classic Castbars (to see and interrupt dangerous casts) and Classic Bestiary (if it still works for you). The cast bars give you something to react to; the bestiary tells you before the pull.

  • Guidelime (updated 7 October 2026): shows leveling guides as steps and updates your progress automatically. It works with Classic Era.

  • ClassicThreatMeter is not recommended: its page says it is abandoned (last update July 2020) and points to ThreatClassic2 or Details.

Install Tips and Hardcore Basics

  1. Download the Classic Era file of each addon. A Retail build will not load on a Classic client.
  2. Update before you start a long session. Several addons here were updated within the last two weeks.
  3. Do not depend on an addon to keep you alive. Know the pull before you start, keep an escape ready and stay out of zones that are far above your level.
  4. Remember that dying on the Hardcore realm is final for that realm, but the character can be moved to a non-Hardcore Classic Era realm.
