Mists of Pandaria Classic PvP System Updates

MoP Classic uses the PvP systems of Mists of Pandaria with a few changes from Blizzard for the Classic release.

System How it works
Resilience Everyone has base damage reduction against players, with no gear needed. It starts at 35% and reaches 63% at level 90. Blizzard tuned it by bracket from Season 12. For Season 13, Warcraft Tavern reported 64% in 2v2, 65% in 3v3, 66% in 5v5 and 65% in the open world
PvP Power Raises damage and healing against other players. It sits on most PvP gear and does nothing in PvE
Battle Fatigue Reduces healing and shielding in PvP. Blizzard changed the amount between seasons: 30% when announced, 40% in Season 12 and 45% in Season 13
Gear scaling PvE gear above a set item level is scaled down in arenas, battlegrounds and rated battlegrounds. The cap was 473 when Season 12 began and Blizzard raised it later
Conquest gear No rating requirement. Elite recolors and some weapon enchants need 2,200 rating
Conquest cap Progressive: 4,000 in week one, 4,000 more each week, so a late starter can catch up. Reaching the cap in week 5 means 20,000 points are available
Arena ratings Personal, not tied to a team, so you can queue with any partner
Titles Gladiator and Rank One are available in 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5

Some of these numbers have changed from season to season. The tooltip on the PvP tab shows the current values.

WoW MoP Classic Arena Overview

Feature Before MoP MoP Classic
Team system Fixed 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 teams Personal rating per bracket, flexible partners
Gear progression Rating-gated sets Conquest gear without a rating requirement, and visuals plus some enchants behind 2,200
Titles Mostly 3v3 Gladiator and Rank One in 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5

2v2 and 5v5 are the unbalanced brackets, and 3v3 is the one most players use to learn. For team compositions per bracket read our PvP tier list. Looking for a partner or a rating push? See our Pandaria Classic services.

Arena Master Title in MoP Classic

The seasonal titles that Blizzard confirmed for MoP Classic are Rank One and Gladiator, in all three brackets. They go to the highest rated players when the season ends, and a Gladiator also receives that season’s Cloud Serpent mount (next sections). The mount is season-exclusive. The title is permanent.

The older text of this guide mentioned an “Arena Master” title for 2,200 rating in every bracket. We could not find an achievement or title with that name in the MoP Classic database, so we removed the claim. The rating that matters for gear is 2,200 (Elite recolors and weapon enchants), not for a title.

New Arena Maps in MoP Classic

Map Theme How it plays
The Tiger’s Peak Pandaria Raised side platforms give line-of-sight control and mid-pit fights
Tol’viron Arena Uldum An open field with little line of sight, which favors ranged comps

Both maps are in the 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 rotations. Line of sight decides fights on Tiger’s Peak. On Tol’viron there is little cover, so range and positioning matter more.

World PvP in Mists of Pandaria Classic

Pandaria has no large PvP zone like Wintergrasp or Tol Barad. Since Phase 5 (2 June 2026) the open-world focus is the Timeless Isle, a max-level zone with rare elites, treasure chests and weekly quests. It becomes a PvP zone because players fight over the same spawns, especially on PvP realms. For a broader zone guide, see our MoP Classic dailies guide.

Why the Timeless Isle Becomes a PvP Warzone

The Isle has an optional free-for-all mode. Speaker Gulan sells the Censer of Eternal Agony, which flags you as hostile to every player, including your own faction. Each player you kill while the buff is active gives a Bloody Coin.

Item Price Vendor
Censer of Eternal Agony 100 Timeless Coins Speaker Gulan
Reins of the Ashhide Mushan Beast 500 Bloody Coins Speaker Gulan

Both prices come from a mount guide and are not confirmed by Blizzard’s patch notes, so check them at the vendor. Expect to be killed far more often than you kill if you wear the buff in a busy zone.

MoP Classic PvP Rewards – Arena and RBG Titles, Mounts, and Gear

The rewards that carry over from season to season:

  • Gladiator Cloud Serpent: a season-exclusive mount for the top rated players. The titles are permanent.
  • Gear sets: Honor sets, then Conquest sets, then the Elite recolor of each season.
  • Weapon enchants: the PvP weapon enchants (Bloody Dancing Steel for melee, Spirit of Conquest for casters and healers in Season 15) become available at 2,200 rating.
  • Rated battleground rewards: Conquest points, tabards and the same Elite visuals.

Arena Rewards – Gladiator Mounts & Titles

Season Name Gladiator mount
12 Malevolent Malevolent Gladiator’s Cloud Serpent
13 Tyrannical Tyrannical Gladiator’s Cloud Serpent
14 Grievous Grievous Gladiator’s Cloud Serpent
15 Prideful Prideful Gladiator’s Cloud Serpent

The Gladiator mount and title go to the top 0.5% of rated players at the end of the season, according to a Phase 5 PvP guide. The lower titles in each bracket (Duelist, Rival and Challenger in the original game) depend on rating thresholds. Seasons 14 and 15 are the ones active in Phase 5.

Rated Battleground (RBG) Rewards

Rated battlegrounds are 10v10 team matches with a personal rating. They pay out Conquest points and share the seasonal Elite appearances with arena. RBG titles and tabards exist, but we could not confirm their exact thresholds for Classic, so check the achievement list in game before you plan a push.

RBGs suit players who prefer structured team play to arena composition planning. If you want a faster Conquest route, arena in 3v3 is the more predictable source.

MoP Classic Elite PvP Sets – By Class and Season

Each season has three tiers of PvP gear: an Honor set, a Conquest set and an Elite recolor of the Conquest set. The Elite set is the visual upgrade of the Conquest set. It requires a rating reached during the season, which was 2,200 in Season 12, and it is the visual reward for high rating.

Armor type Classes
Plate Death Knight, Paladin, Warrior
Mail Hunter, Shaman
Leather Druid, Monk, Rogue
Cloth Mage, Priest, Warlock

Elite PvP Set Tables by Season

Season Conquest set Elite requirement Weapon enchants
12 Malevolent Gladiator’s 2,200 rating Available after the first Mogu’shan Vaults reset, 2,200 rating
13 Tyrannical Gladiator’s Same system Same system. The Glorious Tyranny enchant stopped costing Conquest
14 Grievous Gladiator’s Rating cutoff in the season Same system
15 Prideful Gladiator’s Rating cutoff in the season Bloody Dancing Steel and Spirit of Conquest at 2,200

Names are the standard set names. Each class has its own piece names, for example “Grievous Gladiator’s Plate Armor” for plate wearers. Use the vendor window for the exact items.

MoP Classic PvP Vendor Locations

Faction Vendor NPC Where
Alliance Honor Quartermaster Hayden Christophen Valley of the Four Winds
Alliance Glorious Conquest Quartermaster Ethan Natice Valley of the Four Winds
Horde Honor Quartermaster Lok’nor Bloodfist Kun-Lai Summit
Horde Glorious Conquest Quartermaster Acon Deathwielder Kun-Lai Summit

The Wowhead NPC pages also list each of these vendors in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, so open the map once to confirm which location your realm uses.

How to Start PvP in MoP Classic

  1. Reach level 90 and buy the Honor set from your quartermaster. It has the Resilience and PvP Power budget that PvE gear lacks.
  2. Queue skirmishes in your bracket to learn the maps and your class before rating counts.
  3. Start rated 3v3 or 2v2 with a fixed partner. Spend your weekly Conquest early, since the cap rises every week and unused allowance carries.
  4. Push toward 2,200 only if you want the Elite recolor or the weapon enchants. The Gladiator mount is a separate target for the very top.

Class and team choices are in the PvP tier list.
