Mogu’Shan Vaults in Phase 5

Checked on 12 October 2026, during MoP Classic Phase 5. Loot lists are from Wowhead’s Mogu’shan Vaults loot guide; boss notes from Warcraft Tavern and Method.

Mogu’shan Vaults is the first and lowest-item-level raid of the Tier 14 group in Mists of Pandaria Classic. It opened on 31 July 2025 with Phase 1, and Phase 5 players run it today for three reasons: the Reins of the Astral Cloud Serpent from Elegon, the raid achievements that feed the Glory of the Pandaria Raider meta, and transmog. Its gear no longer competes with Siege of Orgrimmar, so this page is a reference for what drops, where, and how each fight works.

For choosing a spec before you go, see our MoP Classic class rankings.

Mogu’Shan Vaults Release Date & Location

Mogu’shan Vaults went live in MoP Classic on 31 July 2025, as the first of three Phase 1 raids alongside Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring. The entrance is in the north-east of Kun-Lai Summit, between the Peak of Serenity and the Temple of the White Tiger. Wowhead gives the nearest flight point as the Temple of the White Tiger (/way 66.2 50.6). The raid sits high on the mountain, so you need a flying mount or a summon to reach the door.

Quick Facts – Mogu’Shan Vaults (MoP Classic)

Mogu’shan Vaults Raid Format: 10-Player, 25-Player, Normal and Heroic

The raid is linear: six bosses in a fixed order, no skipping. Loot is shared by the raid, so agree on rules (group loot, loot council or a list) before the first pull.

Mogu’Shan Vaults Bosses

The bosses in kill order:

  1. The Stone Guard (council of four guardians)
  2. Feng the Accursed
  3. Gara’jal the Spiritbinder
  4. The Spirit Kings (Qiang, Subetai, Zian, Meng)
  5. Elegon (opens a Cache of Pure Energy on death instead of dropping loot directly)
  6. Will of the Emperor (Jan-xi and Qin-xi)

Normal and Heroic share the same fights. Heroic raises health and damage and adds one or two extra mechanics on some bosses, covered in the strategy section below.

Mogu’Shan Vaults Loot System

Classic loot rules apply, and the raid decides how to split drops. Tier 14 tokens do not drop here. Two quest items, Sigil of Power and Sigil of Wisdom, can drop from any boss. They are needed for chapter I of the legendary cloak questline, quest “The Strength of One’s Foes”, which asks for 10 of each (see our legendary cloak guide).

Mogu’Shan Vaults Loot Table – Overview

Difficulty Item level Special drops
Normal (10 and 25) 489 Sigil of Power, Sigil of Wisdom (any boss); Reins of the Astral Cloud Serpent (Elegon)
Heroic (10 and 25) 502 Same

The Astral Cloud Serpent is a small-chance drop from Elegon. Wow.gg reports that it can appear after you open the Cache of Pure Energy that spawns when Elegon dies. Plan on repeating the boss once a week until it drops. Our MoP Classic mount guide lists the other Pandaria mounts and their sources.

MoP Classic Mogu’Shan Vaults Achievements Overview

All raid achievements count toward the Glory of the Pandaria Raider meta. These need a specific action during the fight:

Achievement What to do
Must Love Dogs Kill the Stone Guard while every raid member has a canine companion pet out
Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better… Kill Feng after copying each of his abilities: Epicenter, Wildfire Spark, Arcane Resonance, Lightning Fists and Arcane Velocity
Sorry, Were You Looking for This? Activate the Ancient Mogu Artifact during the Gara’jal fight
Getting Hot In Here Have the whole raid dance with Subetai the Swift after being hit by Pillage
Straight Six Deactivate six Empyreal Focuses within 10 seconds of each other, then kill Elegon
Show Me Your Moves! Kill the Will of the Emperor after every raider has done an Opportunistic Strike on the same construct in a single Unbalanced phase

There are also Heroic kill achievements for each boss, and the Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge achievements for Will of the Emperor.

Glory of the Pandaria Raider – Meta Achievement

Glory of the Pandaria Raider rewards the Reins of the Heavenly Crimson Cloud Serpent. The Mogu’shan Vaults achievements above are part of it, together with the Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring achievements, so clear all three Phase 1 raids if the mount is your goal.

Mogu’Shan Vaults Location – How to Get There

The raid is on the Mogu’shan Terrace in the north-east of Kun-Lai Summit. Take the flight path to the Temple of the White Tiger and fly the rest of the way, or ask a group member for a summon. If you are still levelling to 90, our MoP Classic leveling guide covers the fastest route.

Mogu’Shan Vaults Map Layout

The instance has three areas, in this order: the Dais of Conquerors, the Repository and the Forge of the Endless. It is a straight path from one boss to the next.

Boss Overview and Raid Strategy – Mogu’Shan Vaults (Normal and Heroic)

Short notes per boss. Details come from Warcraft Tavern’s MoP Classic boss guides and Method’s Mogu’shan Vaults pages.

Boss How the fight works Heroic changes
The Stone Guard Council fight: three guardians on 10-player, four on 25-player. Guardians gain energy when they stand within 12 yards of each other. Each has a Petrification that stacks on the raid and is cleared by that guardian’s Overload, so the aim is to let the guardian that is petrifying you be the one that overloads. Enrage at 8 minutes Hunters are strong because of mobility and Deterrence for soaking (Warcraft Tavern)
Feng the Accursed At set health thresholds Feng picks up a spirit weapon (Fists, Spear, Staff on Normal) and gains its abilities, such as Lightning Fists and Epicenter, Wildfire Spark and Draw Flame, and Arcane Shock and Arcane Velocity. Tanks swap on the stacking debuff. Relics on the floor give a Nullification Barrier or a spell reflect Statue order is not fixed, Feng siphons from the nearest one
Gara’jal the Spiritbinder Spirit Totems send up to 5 players into the Spirit Realm, where they fight Shadowy Minions and come back with a damage or mana-regen buff once at full health. Voodoo Dolls link players to the tank (70% of tank damage), Banishment sends the tank to the Spirit Realm. After 80% he enrages with Frenzy. Hard enrage at 6 minutes Frail Soul blocks re-entering the Spirit Realm for 30 seconds, so you need two Spirit Realm groups
The Spirit Kings Four kings fought one at a time, Qiang always first, the rest random. Each king’s ability stays active after he dies: Qiang’s frontal attacks, Subetai’s Volley and Pillage, Zian’s Shadow Blast and Undying Shadows, Meng’s Maddening Shout every 45 seconds A new king joins when one reaches 30% health. Shield of Darkness (Zian) must be dispelled at once
Elegon Four phases. Overcharged stacks build on players, so tanks swap at 12 stacks and healers dispel at 9-10. Celestial Protectors drop Total Annihilation when killed and must be soaked in rotation. In the Draw Power phase each stack adds 10% damage taken to Elegon. Phase 3 is the Empyreal Focuses. The last phase is a burn with Radiating Energies Same mechanics with more health and damage
Will of the Emperor 90 seconds of constructs only, then Jan-xi and Qin-xi join. Emperor’s Rage (4 at a time, low health), Courage (pairs, frontal shield) and Strength (pairs, immune to CC) spawn throughout. Dodge Devastating Combos to avoid stacking armor loss. Magnetic Armor keeps tanks within 16 yards Combos are 10 attacks instead of 5, and Titan Sparks fixate players when a construct dies. Immunity classes are needed

Is Mogu’Shan Vaults Still Worth Running in Phase 5?

  • Mount: Elegon is the source of the Astral Cloud Serpent. Run it once a week.
  • Achievements: the raid feeds the Glory of the Pandaria Raider meta and the Heavenly Crimson Cloud Serpent.
  • Sigils: any boss can drop Sigils of Power and Wisdom for chapter I of the legendary cloak questline.
  • Gear: only useful as a stopgap. Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring drop higher item levels, and Siege of Orgrimmar is the current raid.

If you would rather skip the weekly attempts, our MoP Classic raid carries cover Mogu’shan Vaults.
