Status in October 2026: Where This Phase 2 Checklist Stands

• Still clearing SSC? The prep tips below apply unchanged. Vashj is the last boss of Serpentshrine Cavern, and the belt she drops has two sockets, 25 expertise rating and 74 attack power, which is why so many melee classes want it.
• Gold per hour. The farm rates below (roughly 200 to 300 gold an hour for Stratholme and primals, about 300 for Steamvaults) were measured before Phase 2 opened.

Right now, you can craft Phase 1 weapons like:

• Dragonstrike (upgrade path)

In Phase 2, these get upgraded using:

• Nether Vortexes
• Rare materials

The Problem

If you don’t already have your base weapon crafted before Phase 2 launch:

👉 You WILL get passed over for upgrades

Because guild priorities will shift to:

• Belt of Blasting (casters)
• Other high-impact crafts

• Craft your weapon base immediately

Gold is everything going into Phase 2.

#3 – Stratholme Paladin Farm

• ~200–300 gold/hour
• Recently nerfed (may get worse)
• Still consistent

Good for:

• Safe farming
• Solo play

#2 – Primal Farming

• ~200 gold/hour (depending on server)
• Prices dropped but still viable
• Highly contested / bot-heavy

👉 Best for:

• Elemental plateau farming classes
• Efficient AoE setups

#1 – Steamvaults Farming (Rogue/Druid)

• ~300 gold/hour
• Extremely efficient
• Low stress, repeatable

👉 The current meta gold farm

Reality Check

If you’re not farming efficiently right now:

👉 You’ll fall behind in:

• Crafting upgrades
• Consumables
• Profession investments

Secret Prep for Lady Vashj (Sweaty but OP)

Top guilds are already preparing:

Key Items:

• Goblin Land Mines
• Thornling Seeds

Strategy

Place them around the platform for the third phase of the Lady Vashj fight, which starts at 50% health and brings the Toxic Sporebats:

👉 Result:

• Reduced poison spread
• Easier positioning
• Less raid deaths

Verdict

This is high-level optimization, but:

👉 It can make or break your first kills

SSC Skip Strategy (Save 30–40 Minutes Weekly)

This one is actually worth it.

The Trick

Use:

• Water Walking (Shaman)
• Slow Fall (Noggenfogger Elixir / Parachute Cloak)

Result:

• Skip large portions of trash
• Reach first boss faster
• Save 30–40 minutes per run

Trade-Off

You lose:

• Potential Nether Vortex drops
• Extra loot opportunities

Recommendation

• Skip later in Phase 2
• Farm normally early for Vortexes

Engineering = GOD Tier in Phase 2

If you’re not running Engineering…

• Immediate power spike

• Fight advantages

• ~1000–1500 gold

Worth it?

👉 100% yes for:

• Raiders
• Min-max players
• Progression guilds

Trash vs Boss Gear Sets (Advanced Optimization)

Most players make a critical mistake:

👉 Using one gear set for everything.

Reality:

Phase 2 raids include:

• Heavy trash clearing
• High DPS uptime phases
• Mixed level mobs

Optimal strategy:

🟦 Boss set:

• Hit capped for raid bosses
• Standard BIS setup

🟥 Trash set:

• Lower hit requirements (~5–6%)
• Max AoE / efficiency stats
• Optimized for faster clearing

👉 Very few players actually implement this.
