Flying in Pandaria requires the Wisdom of the Four Winds, which needs level 90 and other requirements. Most of these mounts also need level 90: the Tillers goats ask for level 85, the Amber Scorpion for level 70 and the Lorewalkers disc for level 60 with Expert Riding.
Most Useful Utility Mounts in MoP Classic
Grand Expedition Yak
A three-person mount that carries two vendors, Mystic Birdhat and Cousin Slowhands, so you can sell, repair and transmogrify away from town. It costs 120,000 gold from Uncle Bigpocket. It is the most useful mount for farming, dailies and dungeon runs.
Azure Water Strider
Lets you walk on water, which saves time for herbalism routes and fishing, and for crossing Krasarang Wilds. You buy it at Exalted with The Anglers from Nat Pagle in Angler’s Wharf for about 5,000 gold.
Sky Golem
The Sky Golem lets herbalists gather without dismounting. Zockify’s database lists it as not yet in the game, and we could not confirm that it is in Phase 5, so do not save materials for it until you see the schematic drop.
How to Get Mounts in Mists of Pandaria Classic
- Reputation vendors: most gold-bought mounts need Exalted standing with a Pandaria faction.
- Achievements: Glory of the Pandaria Hero gives the Crimson Cloud Serpent (28 heroic dungeon achievements), Glory of the Pandaria Raider gives the Heavenly Crimson Cloud Serpent (31 raid achievements), and the Glory of the Thundering Raider meta gives the Armored Skyscreamer.
- Challenge Modes: Challenge Conqueror: Silver rewards a Pandaren Phoenix egg from Kai Featherfall.
- Raid and world bosses: Elegon, Ji-Kun, Galleon, Oondasta and Sha of Anger.
- Professions: Engineering and Jewelcrafting.
- Timeless Isle: Timeless Coins buy the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent, and Bloody Coins from the Isle’s PvP buy the Ashhide Mushan Beast.

Profession Mounts in Mists of Pandaria Classic
Engineering and Jewelcrafting craft mounts. Once learned, most mounts are shared by the characters on your account, but a mount can keep a level, riding or faction requirement, so read the tooltip before you buy one for an alt.
Every recipe needs Orb of Mystery and Living Steel (an Alchemy transmute). The Engineering mounts also need Spirit of Harmony, and the panthers need Serpent’s Eye gems.

The Rarest Mount in Mists of Pandaria Classic
Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent
Dropped by the world boss Sha of Anger in Kun-Lai Summit. It is also in the Satchel of Celestial Chance, which the August Stone Fragment vendor sells for 10 August Stone Fragments (the satchel also holds other mounts, including the Astral Cloud Serpent). The drop chance from the boss is very low, and you can attempt it once per week on each character.
Timeless Isle: Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent
Phase 5 added a second route to an Onyx serpent: the rare elite Huolon on the Timeless Isle drops the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent. Wowhead’s MoP Classic data puts the drop chance at 0.75%. To learn it you need level 90, Artisan Riding and Cloud Serpent Riding from the Order of the Cloud Serpent.

Can you buy mounts in MoP Classic?
Yes. Many are sold by reputation vendors once you are Exalted, or by profession and quest requirements.
Where is the Pandaren mount vendor?
Old Whitenose in Stormwind (Alliance) and Turtlemaster Odai in Orgrimmar (Horde). The Dragon Turtles cost 1 gold at level 20 and the Great Dragon Turtles 10 gold at level 40. Players who are not Pandaren need Exalted with Tushui or Huojin Pandaren.
