- You log back in — and Season 12 begins immediately.
This means:
- No long maintenance window.
- No multi-day gap.
- The new seasonal race begins right away.
Preparation before launch matters more than ever.
The Launch Day Race Explained
One of the most exciting parts of a new season is the return of organized launch races.
Here’s how the structured race format works:
🏁 Team Format
- Teams of 4 players
- No duplicate classes allowed
- You must stay in the same party from level 1 until completion
- No outside leveling or splitting
🎯 Goal
Race to complete Capstone 3.
Capstone 3 is positioned:
- Between Torment 3 and Torment 4 difficulty
- Equivalent to mid-tier Pit difficulty
It’s not a casual sprint — it requires:
- Efficient leveling
- Clean dungeon execution
- Strong early-game build planning
- Tight coordination
Completion is expected to take roughly 5–6 hours for competitive groups.
To qualify:
- You must record the final boss kill
- All 4 members must remain in party the entire time

Not Racing? Join a Launch Group
Even if competitive racing isn’t your thing, launch day is still one of the best experiences in Diablo 4.

What Happens to Your Characters at Season End?

Diablo 4 has two realms:

🟣 Eternal Realm

- No seasonal mechanics
- Long-term character storage
When a season ends:
Your seasonal character is transferred to the Eternal Realm, along with:
- All gear
- All gold
- All materials
- All boss materials
- All stash contents
- All Paragon experience
Everything moves over.
Nothing is lost — unless you ignore your stash (more on that below).
The “Last Season Withdrawal” Stash Tab
After transfer, you’ll see a special stash tab called:
Last Season Withdrawal
This contains:
- All items from your seasonal stash
- All materials
- Boss mats
- Excess gold
Important:
If you do not withdraw items from this tab before the next season ends, they are permanently deleted.
Always clear this tab before the following season launch.
What Does NOT Transfer to the Next Season?
When you create a brand-new seasonal character:
You start completely fresh.
Nothing transfers from Eternal to Seasonal:
- ❌ No gold
- ❌ No gear
- ❌ No mythics
- ❌ No boss materials
- ❌ No gems
- ❌ No Paragon
- ❌ No skill points
The only things that transfer:
- Cosmetics
- Clan membership
Every season is a hard reset.
And that’s intentional.
What Happens to Seasonal Mechanics?
Season-specific mechanics (like:
- Sanctification
- Special seasonal bosses
- Seasonal dungeon modifiers
) do NOT transfer to Eternal.
When seasonal gear moves over:
- The seasonal affix is removed.
- The item remains otherwise unchanged.
Legacy items become nostalgic artifacts — but lose seasonal power.
