The timewalking event has begun in Wrath of the Lich King with valuable loot

Today, for the first time since the release of The War Within, a Timewalking event for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion has begun in World of Warcraft. This event allows players to revisit six classic dungeons and one raid, offering valuable loot for both main and alternate characters.

Eligibility

Characters level 30 and above can participate in the event, but quests are only available for high-level heroes.

Loot

During this event, players can obtain a variety of gear items, including some of quite high level. Early in the expansion, this gear will be useful for equipping not only alternate characters but also mains. Here’s what level 80 characters can get:

• Timewalking vendors offer item level 541 gear.
• Dungeon bosses in Timewalking mode drop item level 554 gear.
• Raid bosses in Ulduar Timewalking mode drop item level 597 “Defender” gear (1/8 upgrade).

Completing quests during the event offers additional rewards:

• The quest Frozen Path Through Time, available from Archivist Fritrun at the center of Darnogal or via the Adventure Guide (Shift+J), requires players to clear 5 dungeons or defeat 5 bosses in Timewalking mode. The reward is a Nerubian Treasure Cache, containing a non-set item from the normal mode of the Nerub’ar Palace with item levels 597-606 (Defender 1-4/8).
• The quest Source of the Disruption: Ulduar, given by Vormu in Dalaran above Northrend, rewards players for defeating Yogg-Saron in Ulduar Timewalking mode. The reward is a Timewarped Treasure Cache, which guarantees a random Timewarped item drop from Wrath of the Lich King raid bosses with item level 610 (“Hero” 1/6) and, with a small chance, one of their mounts or other valuables.

Players can also quickly gain reputation with major factions from the expansion, as detailed in another post. Additionally, during this event, many Timewarped Badges can be collected, which will be useful for purchasing items during WoW’s upcoming 20th Anniversary celebration.
