Midnight Gold Farming: Quick Answer
Updated 12 October 2026 for Midnight Season 2 (patch 12.1); patch 12.1.5 arrives on 13 October. Gold-per-hour figures in this guide are estimates from other creators, not our own measurements, and they move with the market.
Gold in Midnight comes mostly from selling crafted consumables and gear on the Auction House, then from group farming of cloth, leather and ore. Raw numbers go stale within weeks, so the useful part of this page is which methods are stable and when to sell.
| Goal | What to do | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Best crafting professions for gold | Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Tailoring, Alchemy (potions) | Icy Veins gold tier list, 6 Aug 2026 |
| Best gathering farm | Group cloth farming in Harandar; skinning in Bastion of Might (Voidstorm); mining and herbalism in Zul’Aman | Icy Veins, 19 May 2026, from ElonCS |
| When to sell consumables | On your realm’s raid days (typically Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday) | Icy Veins |
| When crafting orders pay best | Mid to late week, and just before or after popular raid hours | Icy Veins |
| Most expensive things to save for | Sporebearer Fungal Strider (5,000,000 gold, on sale from patch 12.1.5 on 13 October), Grand Expedition Yak (120,000), a second house (1,000; the first is free) | Wowhead, Warcraft Wiki |

Best Professions for Gold in Midnight
Icy Veins’ goldmaking tier list (6 August 2026) says all professions can make gold, but some are stronger:
| Tier | Professions | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Tailoring, Alchemy (potions) | Good Concentration builds for efficient consumable production; Tailoring’s cooldown cloth crafting has done well; gear crafting with Season 2 (weapons, rings, cloth). Rank 2 herbs cost much more than Rank 1, which supports potion prices |
| A | Enchanting, Alchemy (flasks), Blacksmithing, Engineering, Leatherworking | Enchanting and flasks were weak early but should pick up with new high-end content. Their costs depend on materials with no quality (such as Petrified Root and Nocturnal Lotus), which makes Concentration builds weaker. Blacksmithing, Engineering and Leatherworking are gear crafters without a strong Concentration consumable build |
| B | Mining, Herbalism, Skinning, Cooking, Fishing | Gathering is expected to turn profitable again with Season 2, but there is a large glut of materials. Cooking and Fishing products have no quality, so competition keeps margins slim |
Icy Veins adds that Jewelcrafting reagents and gems saturate quickly, and that alts raise your production while Concentration lasts. Its Alchemy guide names the Flask Abundance node as a strong gold talent because it multiplies Multicraft.
Crafting Orders and Market Timing
Most profit in Midnight comes from timing, not from the item. Icy Veins’ advice:
- Crafting orders depend on your realm. Profit depends on how many clients you get and how generous they are. In theory the best orders appear in the middle to late part of the week: many crafters have used their weekly public-order quota, but the rush before the reset has not started.
- Work just before and after raid hours. Players who want gear quickly raise their commission. After raid hours, min-maxers want their crests spent before Mythic+.
- Save Concentration for busy periods. On high-volume days competitors run out of Concentration quickly, which lets you keep higher margins.
- Sell commodities on raid days. Find your realm’s raid days (usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday), track prices over time on The Undermine Exchange, and sell during the high periods.
- Buy materials when they are cheap. The same site shows when. Buying and selling at random can lose money.
A raid-week selling calendar
This is our planning table, built from the Icy Veins timing advice above. Raid nights differ by realm, so check yours on The Undermine Exchange before you rely on it.
| Point in the week | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly reset (Tuesday in the Americas, Wednesday in Europe) | Raid and Mythic+ lockouts reset, and raid teams restock for their first night | Have flasks, potions and food listed before the reset, not after it |
| Reset day and the day after | The first raid nights of the week; consumable demand peaks in the hours before raids start | Sell into the peak instead of holding stock; repost if you are undercut |
| Middle to late week | Many crafters have used their weekly public-order quota, and the rush before the next reset has not started | Take public crafting orders and spend the Concentration you saved |
| Sunday | Icy Veins lists it among the usual raid days, so many realms get a second, smaller peak | Top up whatever sold out earlier in the week |
| Last day before the reset | Your last chance to restock before the next reset rush | Buy materials only where The Undermine Exchange shows them below your realm’s usual price |
Useful addons named by Icy Veins: CraftSim (profit calculations for every craft), Auctionator (light posting and tooltips), TradeSkillMaster (full automation, needs setup), Altoholic (track items and gold on all characters), and trackers for weekly knowledge points.
Farming Routes: Cloth, Skinning, Ore and Herbs
These come from creator ElonCS as reported by Icy Veins on 19 May 2026, before patch 12.1, so check that mobs and prices still match.
| Farm | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Group cloth | Harandar | About 30,000 gold per hour at the time of writing. Better gear kills mobs faster and makes more. Needs a Tailoring spec setup |
| Skinning | Bastion of Might, Voidstorm | Find a group, kill mobs, loot. Boosts: Darkmoon Firewater, Refulgent Razorstone, Haranir Phial of Finesse, Argentleaf Tea |
| Mining and Herbalism | Zul’Aman | Refulgent Razorstone on both tools. Open nearby chests, because selling BoE gear adds to the hourly total |
Addons recommended for these farms: FarmHud and Routes. Method has route guides for ore and for herbs and motes in each Midnight zone (written before 12.1); its notes include mining the orelings in Zul’Aman, which can proc Finesse for extra ore. Remember the glut: when many players farm the same material, the price drops fast.
Gold Sinks Worth Saving For
Gold only matters if you know what it buys. These are the big fixed prices in October 2026:
| Item | Price | More |
|---|---|---|
| Player housing, second house | 1,000 gold | The first house is free, and moving a house costs a small fee. Decor is account-wide; see our player housing guide |
| Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth | 20,000 gold | Mei Francis, Crystalsong Forest |
| Grand Expedition Yak | 120,000 gold | Uncle Bigpocket, Kun-Lai Summit |
| Sporebearer Fungal Strider | 5,000,000 gold | From patch 12.1.5 (13 October), Showena in Harandar. Plus Transmogrifier (500,000) and Auction House (1,500,000); sold only during Midnight |
Patch 12.1.5 also lowers the cost of crafting housing decor: most recipes need far less lumber, and the Apothecary’s Worktable now needs 1 Black Lotus instead of 8. If you plan to sell decor, wait for the patch before buying materials. The full list of vendor mounts is in our mount vendors guide.
If you would rather buy gold than farm it, we sell WoW gold; the methods above are free.
Midnight Gold FAQ
What is the best profession for gold in Midnight?
Icy Veins ranks Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Tailoring and potion Alchemy in S tier (6 August 2026).
How much gold per hour can I make?
The only recent figure from a reputable source is about 30,000 gold per hour for group cloth farming in Harandar, reported in May 2026. It depends on gear and group, and prices have moved since.
When should I sell on the Auction House?
On your realm’s raid days, usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Track your realm on The Undermine Exchange to confirm.
Are gathering professions worth it?
They are B tier. Mining, Herbalism and Skinning should recover with Season 2 gear crafting, but there is a large stock of materials, and Cooking and Fishing have very slim margins.
Is the old War Within gold guide still valid?
No. The previous version of this page covered The War Within farms, classes and flipping tips. None of that was carried over; this version uses Midnight data only.
