AoE (Area of Effect) – Term Explanation in World of Warcraft
Definition & Purpose
- Multi‐Target Abilities: AoE abilities affect all targets within a specified radius or area (e.g., Blizzard for Mages).
- Applications: Used for clearing groups of weaker enemies, controlling large pulls, or sometimes dealing with stacked raid bosses.
Tips for AoE
- Positioning is Key: Many AoEs require you to be in a certain spot or to place the ability correctly.
- Threat Management: Large AoE damage can cause you to overtake the tank’s threat. Give tanks time to establish aggro first.
- Resource Efficiency: AoE spells can be mana‐intensive; ensure you have enough to finish off the pull or wave.
