About Red Horizon

Red Horizon is the third season of Year 8 in The Division 2, released on 27 August 2026. The Cleaners, who until now operated only in New York, have moved to Washington, D.C. and roam the open world, take control points and start Retaliations. This section follows that season and its updates: the services that matter while it runs, the seasonal items it added and the events layered on top.

What you can buy here

The season in short

  • A Pressure Gauge fills from kills, headshots, multikills and skill kills and powers three active modifiers, which have no cooldowns this season. The season also has three hostile modifiers and twenty passive ones.
  • The Toxic Dark Zone is a permanent PvE zone, and the new Blackout Dark Zone turns normalization off. The Balanced zones remain the competitive ones.
  • New gear: the Ember Engine gear set, the exotics Fafnir and Iron Will on the Season Pass, and Loaded for Bear as the reward of the season's Climax Mission, which arrives near the end of the season.
  • The Elite Kill Squad 95 Company invades the Retaliations of other factions.

The Under Pressure modifier

The global modifier of the season is Under Pressure. Its Pressure Gauge grows with kills, headshots, multikills, skill kills, status effect kills, fire kills and kills by groupmates, and it decays if you spend too long out of cover. The default bonus of the gauge is Status Effects, and some passive modifiers swap that for Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection. Three Active Modifiers draw on the same gauge, and unlike earlier seasons they have no general cooldown. This is why builds that apply burn and other status effects have a natural fit in Red Horizon, as the Ember Engine set shows.

Updates since launch

Title Update Y8S3.1 (23 September) brought the Red Moon Rising event in the PvE Dark Zone with the new exotics Vertigo and Sarru, and the Rage Harvest global event. Title Update Y8S3.2 (13 October) brought Red Moon Unleashed, running from 15 October to 3 November, a new Creator Collaboration, the Georgetown Dead Zone Classified Assignment and changes to Escalation: starting a run no longer spends tokens, and a balance is enough. Crossplay is announced for November.

What the section sells

Why the season shapes the order

Many sources rotate with the calendar. The seasonal Named items sit at fixed Season Pass tiers: Rushdown at 19, Trick Shot at 32, Keeper at 59 and Melon Baller at 72. Iron Will is at Tier 29, and Fafnir is also a pass reward. Event items such as Sarru and Vertigo come from event pools that close on 3 November. Escalation tokens reset at the start of every season, so a stock bought now does not carry into the next one. Year 8 Season 4 is announced to rework Prototype Gear and the systems around it, with no date yet. Because of that, the lots of this section carry review dates, and event lots are taken down when their event closes.

Older seasonal lots, such as the summer and winter events and the PAYDAY collaboration, stay hidden because their events are over. For gear that is not tied to a season, use the Exotic Weapons, Exotic Armor and Named Items sections, and Hot Offers for bundles.

When did Red Horizon start?

On 27 August 2026, as Year 8 Season 3.

Which events are running now?

Red Moon Rising (24 September to 3 November), Red Moon Unleashed (15 October to 3 November) and the Creator Collaboration, which also ends on 3 November.

Is Loaded for Bear available?

Not yet. It is the reward of the Red Horizon Climax Mission, which the season announcement places near the end of the season, so its lot stays hidden for now.

Do Escalation tokens carry over?

No. Escalation Tokens reset at the start of each season. Since Title Update Y8S3.2 starting a run does not spend them.

What comes after Red Horizon?

Year 8 Season 4. It is announced to rework Prototype Gear to rely less on chance, and no release date has been given yet.
