Sarru is an exotic backpack added with the Red Moon Rising event in Year 8 Season 3.1, one of the two new exotics of the event along with the Vertigo machine gun. Its talent, Decoy King, runs a moon cycle during combat: the Moon changes phase every 5 seconds through 8 phases, and your damage is amplified from 5% at a New Moon up to 25% at a Full Moon.

Decoy King, phase by phase

Starting at New Moon, each phase adds 5% to your amplified damage until the Full Moon at 25%.
After the Full Moon the amplifier steps down again, back to New Moon, and the cycle restarts.
At Full Moon, deploying a Decoy gives it Overcharge and pauses the cycle for 10 seconds.

Where it comes from

Sarru comes from the Red Moon Rising loot pool in the PvE Dark Zone, which runs from 24 September to 3 November 2026. In Red Moon Unleashed the Necromancer drops it with a 20% chance in place of an Exotic Cache. The backpack carries three core attributes: weapon damage (up to 15%), armor (up to 170,000) and +1 skill tier.
