PvP in The Division 2 means the Dark Zone and the Conflict mode, and the game keeps separate balance values for it. A build for PvP therefore differs from a PvE one: survivability and consistent damage matter more than the best talent numbers on paper. This section lists eight PvP loadouts, each with the gear, weapons, mods and skills assembled on your Agent.
What you can buy here
- Catharsis PvP Build: Exotic shotgun Scorpio, Catharsis mask
- Umbra PvP Build: Umbra Initiative set from Price of Power
- The Ravenous PvP Build: Exotic rifle The Ravenous: both barrels
- System Corruption PvP Build: System Corruption set for PvP
- Capacitor + Ninja PvP Build: Exotic AR Capacitor, NinjaBike backpack
The builds
- Catharsis PvP Build: built around the Catharsis exotic mask, whose Vicious Cycle talent turns damage taken into weapon damage stacks. The mask carries an armor core and Incoming Repairs.
- Umbra PvP Build: the Umbra Initiative set rewards cover play: stacks in cover raise critical damage and rate of fire, and stacks out of cover regenerate armor.
- System Corruption PvP Build: a set designed for PvP, whose Hackstep Protocol swaps armor kits for a reusable ability on a cooldown that repairs armor, grants bonus armor and hides your nameplate.
- The Ravenous PvP Build: a loadout around the Ravenous exotic rifle.
- Capacitor + Ninja PvP Build: the Capacitor exotic assault rifle with the NinjaBike backpack, whose Resourceful talent lets it count toward gear set and brand bonuses at once.
- Bighorn + Striker PvP Build: The Bighorn, an exotic AUG variant with the Big Game Hunter talent, paired with Striker's Battlegear.
- Chatterbox + Striker PvP Build: the Chatterbox submachine gun with the same set.
- Best Dark Zone Build: the general entry, with seven named loadouts and a custom option, for the Dark Zone and Conflict.
How PvP stands in Red Horizon
Since Year 8 Season 3 the game has several Dark Zone variants. The Balanced Dark Zones remain the place for competitive, skill-based combat. The new Blackout Dark Zone disables normalization, so SHD Watch and Expertise power stay fully active and Prototype gear runs at full strength, with special PvP overrides for balance. The Toxic Dark Zone is a cooperative PvE variant. Two Title Updates since the season began have also retuned PvP: Y8S3.1 adjusted Prototype Augments, gear and brand set bonuses, talents, exotics and SHD skills, and Y8S3.2 changed Conflict, where Commendation Currency replaces end-of-match caches and the Conflict Rank cap rises from 100 to 200.
The exotics behind the builds
Capacitor is the exotic version of the PDR-C, added in Title Update 12, with a 40+1 magazine and the Capacitance talent; in PvE it comes from Exotic Caches, mission rewards and five Summit challenges in one ascent. The Bighorn, from Warlords of New York (Title Update 8), is an exotic variant of the AUG A3-CQC that fires 800 rounds per minute from a 42+1 magazine. It is extracted from Dark Zones or dropped by Named bosses in Strongholds and The Summit on Legendary. Catharsis arrived with Title Update 15, Hidden Alliance, in May 2022, and has one generic gear mod slot.
What matters in a PvP build
Cover and armor management are the two things that decide fights. Several of the sets above are built on them: Umbra Initiative on cover stacks, System Corruption on a fast armor ability, Catharsis on turning damage into weapon damage. The mask and set pieces are chosen to fit each other, and the weapons are picked for the ranges at which PvP fights happen.
Two upgrade options exist on the lots. High-Stat Armor raises the attributes of the armor to a high roll, and Upgrade Gear to Prototype converts the pieces to the new top quality tier, which needs maximum Expertise on the Agent. Because PvP values are retuned often, the exact numbers on the day of the order are the ones used. The Dark Zone section has farming services, and the Exotic Weapons section sells the weapons one by one.
Do these builds work in the Dark Zone and in Conflict?
They are written for PvP in general. The Best Dark Zone Build lot names the Dark Zone and Conflict directly.
Does Prototype gear behave differently in PvP?
PvP applies its own balance values to Prototype Augments, adjusted in Title Update Y8S3.1. In the Blackout Dark Zone normalization is switched off, with special PvP overrides.
What level does a PvP build need?
A level 40 Agent with the Expertise level the lot asks for if Prototype is chosen. Some lots also list a minimum of SHD points.
Can I keep exotics I already own?
Yes. The lots have tick boxes for pieces you already have, such as Capacitor or the Catharsis mask, so they are not added again.
