About Raids

Raids collects the group-only activities of the Diablo 4 endgame. At the moment the section holds one product, the Dark Citadel, the cooperative endgame dungeon that arrived with the Vessel of Hatred expansion in October 2024. Blizzard presented it as the first dungeon of its kind in Diablo IV, built for groups rather than for a single player.

What you can buy here

How the Dark Citadel is built

The Citadel lies in the heart of Nahantu and is ruled by the First Khazra, who use its powers for wicked experiments on captured villagers. It holds three separate wings, the Enclave of Strife, the Labyrinth of Souls and the Dominion of Zagraal, each with its own secrets to unlock and its own challenges, and a final boss waits at the end. Each wing can be cleared as a group, and a wing can be done over several visits. A Marker System helps the party show its next move.

Rewards

  • A Weekly Rewards cache the first time the Dark Citadel is completed each week. It can hold resplendent items that only this activity offers.
  • Citadel Coins, earned throughout the dungeon, which unlock Dark Citadel cosmetics.

Party Finder

Party Finder is the in-game tool for assembling a group. A player lists the activity, the game type, the place to play and preferences for casual or completionist play, and the Dark Citadel wings can be selected in the listing. It is open to every Diablo IV player.

Access and group size

The Dark Citadel becomes available once a character reaches the endgame. An introductory quest starts the path, and it has to be done only once per account. Blizzard states that the activity needs at least two players and recommends a party of four. Party Finder, added with the expansion, can list a party for selected wings.

What can I choose in the Dark Citadel order?

The order form offers full runs or selected wings, one or two wings at a time, a Torment tier from I to IV, the realm and the mode. It also has a Torment IV unlock and a completion extra for the introductory quest.

What does the lot require?

The lot asks for the Vessel of Hatred expansion, the introductory quest done (the Crater of Lost Souls quest) and Torment I unlocked.

Can the Dark Citadel be played alone?

Not according to Blizzard: the activity needs at least two players.

Which expansion does it belong to?

Vessel of Hatred. Lord of Hatred editions include Vessel of Hatred, so owners of the newer expansion have it too.
