Exotic Items brings together the Destiny 2 services that end in an exotic-tier reward, and it links the narrower lists of Exotic Weapons, Exotic Catalysts and Exotic Armor. Update 9.7.0 in June 2026 ended live-service updates for Destiny 2, so every service here targets an exotic that already exists in the game.

Where exotics come from
Raids and dungeons are the classic sources. Raids: Vex Mythoclast in Vault of Glass, Necrochasm in Crota's End, Conditional Finality in Root of Nightmares, Eyes of Tomorrow in Deep Stone Crypt, One Thousand Voices in Last Wish, Collective Obligation in Vow of the Disciple, Touch of Malice in King's Fall, Euphony in Salvation's Edge and Whirling Ovation in The Desert Perpetual. Dungeons: Ice Breaker in Vesper's Host, Finality's Auger in Sundered Doctrine, Hierarchy of Needs in Spire of the Watcher, The Navigator in Ghosts of the Deep, Heartshadow in Duality, Buried Bloodline in Warlord's Ruin and Heirloom in Equilibrium.
Exotic missions are the second route. Cull's Shadow comes from Oblation, and Bungie's list of available missions includes The Whisper, Zero Hour, Presage, Vox Obscura, Starcrossed, Kell's Fall, Derealize, Heliostat and Fire and Ice. A few exotics, such as Divinity, Gjallarhorn and Xenophage, are tied to quests instead. Xûr, the weekly vendor, sells exotic gear from Friday to Tuesday.
Lot types in this section
- Weapon runs: an exotic farmed from its source, sometimes with its catalyst or a Supreme Bundle around it, and Weekly Rotation versions for several raid exotics.
- Catalysts: the upgrade that turns an exotic weapon into its masterworked form, ordered per weapon, for instance Ice Breaker, Heartshadow, Gjallarhorn or Whirling Ovation.
- Quests and missions: full quest completions such as Xenophage, The Lament and Wish-Ender, and mission runs such as Vox Obscura and Presage.
- Armor: single exotic armor pieces by name for all three classes, the Renegades armor bundle and exotic class items.
- Currencies and materials: Legendary Marks, Exotic Ciphers, Strange Coins, Enhancement Cores and Prisms, Ascendant Shards and Alloy, and Spoils of Conquest.
Requirements
An exotic usually asks for access to where it drops. A raid exotic needs the raid, and Bungie ties raid and dungeon access to ownership of the expansion or the Dungeon Key; Destiny 2: The Collection includes all Dungeon Keys. Three raids need no purchase at all: Crota's End, King's Fall and Vault of Glass. Catalyst lots usually require the weapon to be unlocked before the upgrade, and each lot says so.
FAQ
Are old exotics still obtainable?
Each lot is for an item that Bungie's data shows can be earned today. Anything that depends on vaulted content, such as the Leviathan raid, is not offered.
What is a catalyst?
A catalyst is a one-time upgrade for an exotic weapon. Once it drops, it is usually completed by defeating enemies with that weapon, and then it turns the weapon into a masterwork with higher stats or extra perks.
What are Legendary Marks used for?
They are the currency of the Monument of Triumph. Bungie says they are earned by completing Triumphs and spent at the Tenet vendors, whose rewards include the Heir Apparent exotic machine gun.
Do I need the expansion for a dungeon exotic?
Yes, or the matching Dungeon Key. Each lot repeats the requirement of its source.
