About Grasp of Avarice

Grasp of Avarice was released on 7 December 2021 with the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, during Season of the Lost. Bungie describes it as a cautionary tale for adventurers willing to trade their humanity for riches. It is set in the Cosmodrome and ends with Captain Avarokk, the Covetous. One to three players can enter. Access comes with the 30th Anniversary Pack or the matching Dungeon Key, and Destiny 2: The Collection includes every Dungeon Key.

What you can buy here

Loot

  • Exotic: Gjallarhorn, an exotic rocket launcher. The Gjallarswift sparrow is another exotic item of the dungeon, and Bungie's data says the Gjallarhorn catalyst is acquired here.
  • Weapons: Eyasluna (hand cannon), Matador 64 (shotgun), 1000 Yard Stare (sniper rifle) and Hero of Ages (sword).
  • Armor: the dungeon armor set, sold in two armor lots.

The Gjallarhorn route

Gjallarhorn is not a plain dungeon drop. Bungie's data names the quest "And Out Fly the Wolves" as its source, which is why the exotic, its catalyst and the Hraesveglur Gjallarhorn Ornament are three separate lots in this section. The quest is the gate, and the dungeon is the place the catalyst work happens.

Lot types in this section

Two lots cover clears: Grasp of Avarice and Master Grasp of Avarice. Gjallarhorn has an exotic lot, a Gjallarhorn Catalyst lot and the ornament lot. Captain Avarokk Farm is a lot centred on the final boss. The four legendary weapons are sold by name, with a choice of roll type and weapon tier, and the two armor lots sell the dungeon set by piece or as a full set.

Choices on the main lot

The Grasp of Avarice lot is split into a standard run, Master difficulty and a Solo Flawless run. Options add the secret chests, a final-boss run and a Flawless run with a full fireteam, and a Gjallarhorn run can be added. The Master lot offers the ornament and the full Gjallarhorn quest. An order can cover up to 15 characters.

Requirements

Access comes through the 30th Anniversary Pack, a Dungeon Key or The Collection. The Gjallarhorn Catalyst lot asks whether the rocket launcher is already on your account and can be ordered either way, and the Master variants suit a character that is ready for them.
