Fafnir is an exotic shotgun added with Year 8 Season 3: Red Horizon, the season about the Cleaners and fire. Its talent, Dragon's Breath, makes the weapon fire Dragon Breath shells: each shot has a 40% chance to apply Burn, and weapon damage is amplified by 50% of your Status Effects bonus. The pump-action shotgun holds 10 rounds, fires at a rate of 79 and has a range of 11 m.

Dragon's Breath

Every shot rolls a 40% chance to burn the enemy; a target that is already burning cannot be burned again.
Weapon damage is amplified by half of your Status Effects bonus, so the shotgun scales with status effect gear.
Fixed mods: optics +15% critical hit chance, magazine +5 rounds, underbarrel +10% weapon handling.
Burn still follows the usual status effect diminishing returns on enemies, so in practice it can land less often than 40%.

Where it comes from

Fafnir is a Season Pass reward of Red Horizon, available on the free track. The season launched on 27 August 2026. The free track also carries another exotic, the Iron Will chest. The season's new gear set Ember Engine applies Burn as well, which suits the shotgun.

Requirements

A level 40 Agent on the platform you select.

Fafnir FAQ

Do I need to buy the Season Pass?

Fafnir is on the free track, so the pass purchase is not required to earn it. The lot is for Agents who prefer not to climb the pass.

What does Burn do to the damage?

Burn is a status effect. The talent's damage bonus is half of your Status Effects stat, so builds with high Status Effects get the most out of it.

What are the fixed mods?

Optics +15% critical hit chance, magazine +5 rounds and underbarrel +10% weapon handling.
