Bittersweet is an exotic variant of the Classic M1A rifle, added in Year 7 Season 3: Mutiny. It is a support weapon: headshots build stacks, and shooting an ally or one of your skills repairs it for half of the shot's damage per stack. The semi-automatic rifle fires 320 rounds per minute from a 20+1 magazine at 60 m and reloads in 2.32 seconds.

Transfusion

Headshots build stacks up to a maximum of 8.
Shooting an ally or a skill repairs it for 50% of the shot's damage for each stack, and healed allies also receive bonus armor worth 200% of your repair skills bonus per stack for 10 seconds.
After a heal at maximum stacks every hit counts as a headshot for 8 seconds.

Where it comes from

During Mutiny, Bittersweet was a Season Pass reward at level 69. After the season it moved into the general loot pool, where it drops from rifle targeted loot. That makes it a farmable exotic and not a seasonal exclusive.

Fixed mods

Optics: +15% critical hit chance.
Underbarrel: +10% headshot damage.
Magazine: +10 rounds, on top of the base 20.
Title Update Y8S3.2 (13 October 2026) set these optics and underbarrel values (before: +5% headshot damage each) and raised the base headshot damage of all rifles from 60% to 80%.

Requirements

A character that has reached the level 40 cap.

Bittersweet FAQ

Is it only useful in groups?

It is a support weapon. Alone you can still shoot your own skills to repair them, but the bonus armor for allies needs a group.

Why is it called an exotic Classic M1A?

Because it is the exotic version of the Classic M1A rifle, in the same way Lichtenberg is a Named version of that rifle.

Who is Bittersweet for?

Players who like support builds, such as a Future Initiative setup that wants to heal through headshots.

How far does it reach?

The listed range is 60 m, at 320 rounds per minute.
