What does it mean – Auto-Follow?
Auto-Follow refers to a command or gameplay function in World of Warcraft that allows your character to automatically follow another player, maintaining proximity as they move through the game world. This is especially useful during leveling, dungeon runs, or raid movement phases, where staying grouped is important for survival and efficiency.
The default command is /follow
, which causes your character to trail the targeted ally until movement, combat, or an interrupt cancels the follow. Auto-Follow is frequently used by multiboxers, support players, or those temporarily stepping away from the keyboard. In PvE, it ensures smoother navigation, especially for newer players or during scripted encounter transitions. In PvP, Auto-Follow can be risky, as it may expose players to traps or AoE damage if not manually overridden.
Certain dungeons and quests also benefit from coordinated movement using Auto-Follow, allowing one experienced player to guide others efficiently. However, it's important to remain attentive, as environmental hazards or aggressive enemies can break the follow and lead to quick deaths.
