Sealed Mana Regen in Last Epoch: What Does It Mean?
Sealed Mana Regen is not its own stat in Last Epoch, and the game has no system that seals part of your mana pool. When players say it, they almost always mean an increased mana regeneration affix that has been sealed onto an item with a Glyph of Despair. Sealing moves that affix into a separate slot, which frees a normal slot for another affix.
How Mana Regeneration Works
Every class in Last Epoch regenerates mana at the same flat base rate of 8 mana per second. No attribute raises that base number. You scale it with percentage increased mana regen from passive trees, skill nodes and item affixes. The character sheet shows rounded values, but the game uses exact decimals.
- Item affixes. Increased mana regen is mostly found on rings, amulets, belts and relics, and some bases carry it as an implicit. Which slots can roll it has changed between patches, so check the forge or a current item database.
- Passives. Several base-class and mastery trees offer increased mana regen, sometimes attached to other bonuses.
- Channelled skills. In the Harbingers of Ruin update, most channelled skills that used to stop mana regeneration while channelling were changed. They now let you regenerate, and 8 mana was added to their channel cost, so investing in regen pays off for channelling builds. Ghostflame is one example: its channel cost went from 40 to 48 when the change landed.
What "Sealed" Means in Last Epoch
Sealing is a crafting mechanic. In the forge, a Glyph of Despair has a chance to seal an affix instead of upgrading it:
- The sealed affix moves to its own dedicated slot and the slot it came from becomes free.
- A sealed affix counts as neither a prefix nor a suffix, so the item can hold an extra affix.
- Once sealed, the affix can no longer be changed.
- An item can have only one sealed affix, and the glyph does not work on unique or set items.
- Low-tier affixes are easier to seal than high-tier ones, and exalted items and items with more affixes also have better odds.
So a "sealed mana regen" item is simply gear where the mana regen affix sits in the sealed slot, leaving the four regular slots for damage, health or resistances. The similar-sounding Runemaster passive Unsealed Mana is unrelated: it gives mana and cast speed and has nothing to do with item sealing.
Tips
- Seal mana regen while it is still at a low tier, when the seal chance is highest, then use the freed slot for an affix that matters more to your damage or defence.
- Only seal an affix you are happy to keep forever, because it cannot be upgraded or removed afterwards.
- Decide early whether your build wants more regen or lower skill costs. Regen helps most with channelled skills and long fights, while cost reduction can be better for burst casting.
- Use the in-game tooltip to confirm real numbers, since the character sheet rounds them.
FAQ
Does Last Epoch reserve or seal mana like some other ARPGs?
None of the official patch notes or major guides we checked describe a portion of the mana pool being sealed or reserved. Mana problems in Last Epoch come from skill costs against regeneration and maximum mana.
What is the base mana regeneration in Last Epoch?
8 mana per second for every class. Everything else is percentage scaling on top of that.
Can I upgrade a sealed affix later?
No. A sealed affix is locked, so seal the one you are least likely to want to improve. More crafting details are on the official Last Epoch site and in the patch notes.
