Colorblind Settings in Marvel Rivals: What Helps and What Doesn't
Marvel Rivals has colorblind-related settings, but NetEase has not published a list of filters, so the three filter names found on many guides (Deuteranopia, Protanopia, Tritanopia) cannot be confirmed for this game. What players do report is a different problem: enemy markers and area-effect rings are dark red, and that red blends into many maps even with the colorblind setting on. This page covers what can be changed and what the community recommends, as of 12 October 2026.
What the game gives you
| Option | What it does | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Colorblind setting | Changes the game's colour scheme. Exact modes are not documented by NetEase | Exists per player reports; check the in-game menu |
| Enemy colour | Lets you change the colour used to outline enemies; a Daredevil crosshair guide at marvelrivals.gg suggests switching red to yellow for contrast | Reported by guides |
| Voiceover Subtitles | Text for spoken lines and ability callouts | Settings → Audio, per a third-party guide |
| KO Sound Cue | An audio signal when you eliminate someone | Settings → Audio → Combat Mix, per the same guide |
Menu paths come from third-party guides and may be out of date. Search the Settings screen for "colorblind" and "enemy" if a path does not match.
Known problems
- Red markers. A player with protanomaly on the Steam forum describes that the default dark-red hostile markers and area rings still blend into much of the map after changing UI colours. They also note it affects deuteranopia.
- Heroes whose effects are hard to read. Press coverage of players asking for fixes names Peni Parker's mines and Human Torch's flames as hard to read.
- Not everything is covered. A press report on accessibility says the game lacks several features that other shooters have. Check the current patch notes before assuming a particular option has been added.
What the community recommends
- Change the enemy colour to something that stands out from the map you play most. Bright pink or purple is a common suggestion; yellow is another.
- Turn on a colorblind setting even if you are not colorblind. Players say the alternative palettes can help in some lighting.
- Use the audio options (subtitles, KO cue) as a second channel rather than relying on colour alone.
- Reduce visual clutter where the game allows it, for example the Team-Up visual effects toggle some guides mention.
A five-minute test routine
- Open Practice vs AI so nothing is at stake.
- Try each colorblind option and compare the enemy outline, ping markers and ability warning rings on a dark and a bright map.
- Change the enemy outline colour and check it against a hero with heavy effects, such as Human Torch or Scarlet Witch.
- Turn on voiceover subtitles and the KO Sound Cue so a missed colour cue is still a signal.
- Repeat on the map you play most, as contrast depends on the environment.
Colorblind settings in other games
Many shooters use the three-filter model (red-weak, green-weak, blue-weak plus a strength slider). Our Graphics Settings Glossary explains the common terms. Do not copy settings advice from another game: the filter names and the places where colour is used differ.
