What does it mean – Auto-Trade?
Auto-Trade refers to a macro or addon-assisted function in World of Warcraft that streamlines or automates parts of the trading process between players, such as automatically placing items or accepting trade windows. While WoW does not support fully automatic trading (to prevent abuse and botting), Auto-Trade setups can simplify repetitive trade actions, especially during boosting, dungeon carries, or leveling sessions.
Common use cases include powerleveling groups, where one player regularly trades items like heirlooms, gold, or gear, and addons like TradeMaster, TradeSkillMaster, or simple /run macros are used to automate item placement or confirm trades. Auto-Trade is also used by bank alts and guild crafters to manage large volumes of material exchanges.
Blizzard’s rules prohibit full automation of trades (i.e., unattended trading), so Auto-Trade tools only help speed up manual actions, not replace them. It’s widely used in gold trading, profession crafting, and collectible distribution—as long as the player is present and actively clicking.
