Station levels

Gunsmith (4 levels): level 1 crafts the Anvil, Burletta and Il Toro, level 2 the Osprey, Rascal, Torrente, Venator and Arpeggio, level 3 the Aphelion, Dolabra, Equalizer, Jupiter and others. Level 4 adds Weapon Amplification and needs the Outpost.
Gear Bench, Medical Lab, Explosives Station, Utility Station, Refiner (3 levels each): level 1 costs 25 Plastic Parts and 30 Fabric for the Gear Bench, 50 Fabric and 6 ARC Alloy for the Medical Lab, 60 Metal Parts and 5 ARC Powercells for the Refiner.
Research Station (4 levels): part of the Outpost from Frozen Trail 2.0; each level needs a matching Outpost level.
Scrappy (5 levels): gathers basic materials while you are Topside; level 2 asks for a Dog Collar and level 5 for 12 Mushrooms, 12 Apricots and 3 Very Comfortable Pillows.

Options

Any bench to max level raises every station to its top level; the single-station choices set a start and target level.
Scrappy Level offers 1 to 4, although the rooster has five levels.
Add Research Station unlock is for accounts that have not opened the Outpost yet. Its first project step is a photo of a farmland house, taken with a camera.

Note: a station level does not teach recipes by itself. Many items also need their blueprint.

The Frozen Trail 2.0 update, which added the Outpost and the Research Station, for those two options and for Gunsmith level 4.

Why does Gunsmith level 4 cost the most effort?

It needs 3 Radial Presses, 3 Magnetic Accelerators and 1 Emperor Modulator, plus the Outpost with four rooms built.

Does the Workbench count as a station?

It is free from the start and has no upgrade levels, so it is not part of the list.
