Mining is the gathering profession for ore, from Thorium to Arcane Crystals, and it supplies the smiths and engineers. Choose your skill range with the slider and our boosters level it on your account, starting from zero if you like.

Key facts

Skill range	1 to 375. The Master tier (300 to 375) is the Burning Crusade step and needs at least 275 skill
Trainer tiers before Master	Apprentice up to 75 (level 5), Journeyman up to 150 (level 10, skill 50), Expert up to 225 (level 20, skill 125), Artisan up to 300 (level 35, skill 200)
Artisan training	Since patch 2.3 the profession trainers in capital cities teach up to Artisan
Outland ores	Fel Iron and Adamantite veins can spawn rare Khorium in their place
Elemental motes	Mote of Fire, used for Primal Fire, comes from fire elementals or Fel Iron deposits (10 motes make one Primal Fire)
Epic gems (Phase 3)	Since 27 August 2026 miners with 375 skill can find epic gems in the Battle for Mount Hyjal
Node mining	On Burning Crusade-era clients a vein takes several swings to empty, and each swing can give a skill point (changed in patch 3.0.8)
