Why the temple is under the swamp

More than a thousand years ago a civil war split the Gurubashi Empire after the Atal'ai, a group of troll priests, tried to bring back the blood god Hakkar the Soulflayer. Defeated and exiled, they fled north to the Swamp of Sorrows and built a temple to prepare his return. Ysera, Aspect of the green dragonflight, learned of the plan and sank the temple beneath the marsh. The sinking, though, only let the Atal'ai's efforts to summon Hakkar go on undisturbed. Later the Atal'ai's descendants came back to the ruins, found the green dragon guardians disoriented and vulnerable, took control of the temple and resumed the rituals to summon Hakkar.
