League of Legends Kill Streaks, Macro & Slang
Players ask about League of Legends terms in two places: after a voice line plays ("Godlike", "Legendary") and in chat while someone talks about waves ("bounce it", "play off-meta"). This page covers six of those terms: the two top kill-streak announcements, the bounce push, damage share, the loading screen and off-meta builds. It uses the Summoner's Rift rules of the current season.
State on 2 November 2026: patch 26.21 went live on 20 October 2026, and patches ship every two weeks (26.18 on 9 September, 26.19 on 22 September, 26.20 on 6 October). Anything described as "the meta" is therefore valid only until the next patch. Kill announcements and the loading screen rules below have not changed across these patches.
| Term | Short answer |
|---|---|
| Godlike | 7 kills in a row without dying |
| Legendary | 8 or more kills in a row without dying |
| Bounce push | The wave that rebounds toward you after a crash |
| Damage share | Your share of your team's champion damage |
| Loading screen | Pre-game screen with splash art, rank border and tips |
| Off-meta build | A build outside the current most effective approach |
Bounce Push
Wave management is how you control where minion waves meet. The wiki glossary defines the basic moves: a shove clears the enemy wave fast to push yours into the enemy turret, a slow push clears slowly so minions build up and eventually overwhelm the lane, a freeze keeps the wave near your own turret while you only last-hit, and a crash is when your minions have entered the enemy turret's range.
A bounce follows a crash. The enemy turret kills your crashed minions, the enemy's next wave is larger, and it pushes back toward you. Community guides use the bounce to set up a freeze on your side of the lane, or to recall while the turret handles the crash and come back as the wave returns. Two facts matter:
- The wave must be crashed fully. If it stops short of the turret, it does not bounce.
- "Bounce push" is player slang, not an in-game term. You will hear "let it bounce" or "it's bouncing" in coaching and casting, all meaning the same rebound.
- The bigger the wave you crash, the more of the enemy's minions survive the turret and the stronger the bounce. A single small wave usually bounces back weakly.
This is why a "cheater recall" works: a player slow-pushes the early waves, crashes the one with the siege minion and gets time to recall and buy items. It works best when the enemy is not ready to contest.
Damage Share
Damage share is the percentage of your team's total damage to champions that you dealt. The post-game screen shows your raw damage dealt to champions next to your teammates', and stats sites and esports data providers turn that into a percentage. PandaScore's esports API, for example, reports a per-player figure for damage to champions as a share of the team total, and esports datasets list it as DMG% next to damage per minute (DPM).
- A high share is normal for carries (ADC, mid) and low for supports and tanks. The number alone does not say whether a player did their job.
- It counts champion damage, so it ignores damage to minions, towers and monsters.
- Damage taken, crowd control and shielding do not show up in it.
Use it to compare players in the same role and to see how much of the team's damage is concentrated on one player.
Godlike
Godlike is the announcement for a 7-kill streak without dying. The LoL wiki lists the full ladder of announcements:
| Kills in a row | Announcement |
|---|---|
| 3 | Killing Spree |
| 4 | Rampage |
| 5 | Unstoppable |
| 6 | Dominating |
| 7 | Godlike |
| 8 or more | Legendary |
Streak announcements are different from multi-kills, which count kills close together in time rather than kills without dying:
- Multi-kills: Double Kill, Triple Kill, Quadra Kill and Pentakill, each within 10 seconds of the previous kill (the window refreshes on every kill). After a Quadra Kill the window for the Pentakill grows to 30 seconds. Hexakill exists only in the Hexakill mode, and a sixth kill on a five-player team is not announced.
- First Blood: the first champion kill of the game.
- Ace: your team kills the last living enemy champion. It gives no direct bonus but has its own announcement, and both teams can be aced at once.
Executions, where a minion, monster or turret finishes a champion who was not damaged by an enemy champion recently, do not give a bounty and do not interrupt the victim's streak. A streak is also what shutdown gold is built on; see shutdown mechanics.
Legendary
Legendary is the top streak announcement, played from 8 kills in a row without dying, and it repeats for every further kill until you die. There is nothing above it.
- A champion on Legendary carries a large bounty, so the enemy team gains a lot of gold for ending it; see shutdown below.
- Executions do not end the streak: dying to a turret or minion with no recent enemy champion damage keeps the count and the bounty unclaimed.
- Do not mix it up with the skin rarity "Legendary", or with the old "Legendary Kill" multi-kill. Footage from before the Hexakill mode existed shows a "Legendary Kill" for a kill after a Pentakill; it is no longer in the game.
Loading Screen
The loading screen is the first screen after all players accept the match, while the game client launches. According to the LoL wiki:
- The portrait border changes to show your rank in the current season, if you are at least Silver.
- A player with honor level 3 or higher who received honors in the previous game (from one non-premade player, or two premade players) gets an honor icon at the top center.
- Clicking the infobox switches to an alternate view with champion mastery (hidden as "Mastery Locked" below mastery 4), summoner icon, level and previous season's rank.
- Teamfight Tactics shares this screen, but shows the Little Legend splash and tier.
- The centre shows a random tip about gameplay or lore; most tips unlock at account level 7.
The border is described on icon border.
Off-Meta Build
The wiki defines the meta as the game's current most effective play style, covering lane setup, jungling and team composition. An off-meta build is a rune, item or champion choice outside it. Riot patches every two weeks, so the meta shifts often, and a build that was off-meta last patch can be standard this patch.
- Off-meta works best as a pick the enemy has not prepared for. "Cheese" is the wiki's word for an unexpected strategy, often early, that gets a lead and snowballs.
- It has costs: guides are fewer, your teammates may not understand the plan, and a failed gamble loses lane.
- Judge it by results over many games, not by one win.

FAQ
How many kills for Godlike in League of Legends?
Seven kills in a row without dying. Legendary follows at eight or more.
What is the order of kill streak announcements?
Killing Spree (3), Rampage (4), Unstoppable (5), Dominating (6), Godlike (7) and Legendary (8 or more).
What does bounce mean in wave management?
After you crash a wave into the enemy turret, the enemy's larger next wave rebounds toward you. Players use it to freeze or to recall safely.
Is damage share an official stat?
Not as a named stat in the client. The post-game screen shows raw damage to champions, and stats sites and esports data providers calculate the share of your team's total from it.
What does an off-meta build mean?
A choice outside the current most effective play style. Because patches come every two weeks, the line moves often.
