Missile Lock-On Jammer: What Does It Mean?

The Missile Lock-On Jammer is an Imani Tech vehicle upgrade in GTA Online that stops other players and weaponized vehicles from getting a homing lock on your vehicle. It is a passive mod: once it is fitted there is nothing to switch on, and anyone who wants to hit you with missiles has to aim them by hand.

How It Works

Homing weapons in GTA Online, from the Homing Launcher to the missiles on the Oppressor Mk II and many armed jets and helicopters, have to lock on before their rockets will track a target. The jammer removes that step. Missiles can still be fired at you, but without a lock they fly in a straight line like unguided rockets, so the attacker has to predict where you will be when the rocket arrives. Against a fast car that changes direction, that is much harder than holding a lock and pressing fire.

• Part of Imani Tech. Imani Tech is the set of combat mods that arrived with The Contract update. It is installed at the Vehicle Workshop inside an Agency. GTA+ members can also fit the jammer at the Vinewood Club Garage workshop.
• One slot, two options. The jammer shares its slot with the Remote Control Unit, so a vehicle can have one or the other, never both.
• Paid per vehicle. The upgrade is bought for one car at a time, so each vehicle you want protected has to be fitted and paid for separately at the workshop.
• Not armour. The jammer does nothing against bullets, sticky bombs or a well-aimed rocket. Armor Plating, a separate Imani Tech option on some vehicles, is what adds explosive resistance.

Which Vehicles Can Use It

When Imani Tech launched it was limited to a small group of Agency-era vehicles, such as the Enus Deity, Enus Jubilee, Dewbauchee Champion, Bravado Buffalo STX, Mammoth Patriot Mil-Spec and Declasse Granger 3600LX. The Weaponized Ignus comes with the jammer already installed.

Rockstar has since widened jammer support several times. Agents of Sabotage (December 2024), Money Fronts (June 2025), A Safehouse in the Hills (December 2025) and The Kortz Center Heist (July 2026) each enabled the jammer on about 50 more vehicles, including helicopters and planes such as the Cargobob and the Dodo. On most of these added vehicles the jammer is the only Imani Tech upgrade available. Some aircraft, such as the Frogger and the Titan, take it at the aircraft workshop of an owned Hangar instead of the Agency. Rockstar usually sends an in-game email listing newly eligible vehicles, but because the list keeps changing, check the workshop menu in game before buying a car only for the jammer.

Where It Helps Most

• Freemode travel. Crossing the map in a public lobby is where most players run into Oppressor Mk II and jet attacks that depend on homing missiles.
• Sell and delivery missions. When you have to drive a fixed route, losing lock-on protection is often what ends the run.
• Getting away. With no lock to break, you can concentrate on driving and cover instead of watching the missile warning.

Tips

• Keep moving. A stopped or slow car is an easy target even for missiles fired without a lock.
• Use tunnels, bridges and buildings to break line of sight, since attackers have to aim at you manually.
• Combine the jammer with Armor Plating on vehicles that support both, so the rockets that do land hurt less.
• Protection belongs to the vehicle, not to you. Once you get out or switch cars, you can be locked onto again.
• If you mainly want to drive the car remotely, remember that choosing the Remote Control Unit means giving up the jammer.

FAQ

Does the jammer stop all missiles?

No. It blocks lock-on only. Rockets fired without a lock, explosives, gunfire and collisions can all still damage or destroy the vehicle.

Do I need an Agency to get it?

Usually yes, because the upgrade is fitted at the Agency Vehicle Workshop. The exceptions are GTA+ members, who can use the Vinewood Club Garage workshop, and some aircraft that take it at an owned Hangar's aircraft workshop.

Can I fit the jammer and the Remote Control Unit together?

No. They use the same Imani Tech slot, so you have to pick one.

Which vehicles are eligible right now?

The list has grown with several updates and may grow again. The workshop menu in game and Rockstar's own update notes on the official GTA Online site are the most reliable places to check.
