What does it mean – Auto-Dismount?

Auto-Dismount refers to a quality-of-life feature in World of Warcraft that automatically removes your mount when attempting an action that cannot be performed while mounted, such as casting a spell, initiating combat, or gathering resources. This function helps streamline gameplay, especially in open-world exploration, questing, and PvP, where quick transitions between mounted travel and combat are essential.

By default, Auto-Dismount is enabled in WoW’s settings under Interface > Controls, allowing players to cast spells or abilities without manually dismounting. For example, if a Mage casts Frostbolt while mounted, the game will automatically dismount the character and begin the cast. This is particularly helpful during world quests, resource farming, or dungeon entrances where speed and fluidity matter.

Auto-Dismount also applies when interacting with objects like mining nodes or herb patches, eliminating the need for extra keystrokes. However, some players choose to disable the feature for mounted PvP strategies or to avoid accidental dismounting in high-risk areas.
