The Division 2 Activities, SHD Levels & Skills Glossary

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 has collected a lot of in-game vocabulary since its launch on 15 March 2019: skill names, weekly projects, directives, story characters and activities that appeared and disappeared with Title Updates. This page explains eleven of these terms, says what each one is in the current game, gives the patch where a rule changed, and points out the terms they are most often confused with.

Status on 1 November 2026: the game is in Year 8. Season 3, Red Horizon, started on 27 August 2026, and the Year 8 Season 3.1 Title Update on 24 September 2026 added the Red Moon Rising event in the PvE Dark Zone. Season 4 was teased at Gamescom 2026 but had not started by 1 November 2026, so the numbers below are tied to the patch they come from.

Skills: Hives and Scavenged Skills

Restorer Hive

The Restorer Hive is the repair variant of the Hive, an SHD Tech skill introduced in The Division 2. You throw a pod to the ground, and its micro-drones fly to allies inside the radius and spend themselves repairing armor. Every Hive has a limited number of charges and destroys itself when they run out. Since Title Update 6 the skill recharges like a chemical launcher and you can pick the pod up again to move it.

The numbers changed in Title Update 10.1 (21 July 2020). Hive duration for all variants went from 50 to 180 seconds. The Restorer's base range grew from 6 to 8 metres, while the range gained per skill tier fell from 20% to 10%. Its charges dropped from 12 to 8 at skill tier 0, but it now gains 4 charges per tier. Title Update 10.1 also raised the Restorer's repair strength during overcharge from +120% to +140%. If a build relies on a Restorer, compare these figures with the current in-game tooltip.

Reviver Hive

The Reviver Hive does something different: it brings downed agents back up. It does not run on its own. You activate the drones by hand, and you can charge them to raise the health and armor an ally returns with. If you are the one carrying a Reviver Hive and you go down, it deploys automatically and revives you, provided it is not on cooldown. It does not work in Conflict mode.

Title Update 10.1 reduced its charges from 4 to 1 at skill tier 0 (it gains 1 per tier) and cut the base cooldown from 240 to 180 seconds. An exploit that let one Hive revive several agents at once, or revive a Hunter outside its radius, was fixed in earlier updates. Do not confuse it with the Restorer Hive: the Restorer repairs armor, the Reviver only brings someone off the floor.

Scavenged Skills

Scavenged Skills is a directive, a modifier you switch on for extra loot and experience. It arrived with Title Update 11 (22 September 2020) and replaced the older Cool Skills modifier, which put your second skill on cooldown when you used the first. Under Scavenged Skills your skill cooldowns do not tick down by themselves. You collect Skill Parts that drop from enemies and broken weak points, and each part cuts the cooldown.

Title Update 11.1 (19 October 2020) increased the cooldown reduction per Skill Part and made every active directive add a small bonus to the chance of targeted loot, in missions, the open world and the Summit. A directive is not a skill and does not belong to your build; it is a rule of the run. It is easy to mix up with the "scavenging" stat of the SHD Level system, which only pays out credits and crafting materials.

SHD and ISAC

ISAC

ISAC stands for Intelligent System Analytic Computer. It is the AI that every active agent reaches through the SHD Network, and in play it is the voice announcing things like "Hostile supply convoy detected" or "Rogue Agents detected nearby". It relays alerts and updates, identifies targets by biometric markers, sets waypoints, and can rebuild a scene as an ECHO hologram from ambient data. The setting presents it as an advanced version of a real Pentagon project called CALO.

Practically, ISAC is not a skill or an item you can equip or upgrade. If a guide tells you to "use ISAC" in a build, it means the alerts and map markers the system gives you for free.

SHD Tech

SHD Tech (pronounced "Shade Tech") is short for Strategic Homeland Division Technology. It is a catch-all name for the Division's proprietary gadgets and systems: pod launchers, turrets, ballistic shields, seeker mines and portable stations, all tied to the SHD global network. It is not a currency or a drop that you collect, which is how some older pages describe it.

Two nearby terms are easy to confuse with it. The SHD Level is the infinite progression system added in Warlords of New York (Title Update 8, March 2020): after the Liberty Island mission, every level costs 700,000 XP and gives one point to spend in five areas (Offense, Defense, Skills, Misc. and Scavenging), and each stat can take up to 50 points. Each level also adds a permanent 30 health. SHD Calibration is a separate reward item: weekly projects in Title Update 20 paid out 5 SHD Calibration each. The standalone page on SHD Calibration covers it in detail, and it is a different thing from the gear Recalibration bench, which moves one stat or talent between similar items.

SHD Requisition

SHD Requisition is a base project, not a currency. It appeared in Title Update 3 (14 May 2019) as a new daily project that asks you to donate crafting ingredients and pays out high quality gear and blueprints. In later versions it also exists as a weekly project: Title Update 17.1 patch notes mention the weekly SHD Requisition and Summit projects, and the Title Update 20 reward list shows 1 Exotic Cache, crafting blueprints, 5 Specialization Points and a level of experience for it.

The thing to remember is that the project is where the reward comes from. Do not look for an "SHD Requisition" item in the loot pool.

Activities and loot

Resource Convoy

The in-game name is Supply Convoy, a hostile encounter for levels 1 to 40. A faction squad drives bins of food, water and components from one of its control points to another, and ISAC announces it. You fight four waves: the first two are normal enemies, the third and fourth add veterans. When you clear all of them the bins open and you collect the resources.

An Elite Supply Convoy plays out over six waves, starts with elite enemies, pays double rewards and experience, and runs between a faction's stronghold and a control point; the linked control point gains 2 difficulty levels instead of 1. Rewards include one or two pieces of targeted loot, which is why some farmers watch for them.

Named Item Cache

A Named Item Cache is a loot container that gives a named item, a piece with a fixed name and a special talent or attribute roll. It is different from an Exotic Cache, which gives one exotic. In the Title Update 20 patch notes (6 February 2024) the weekly sources were: 1 from a Heroic Faction Bounty, 2 from the weekly Dark Zone or Conflict project, and 2 from the weekly Summit project. Seasonal stretch goals work separately: the Rise Up caches in Year 8 Season 1 (26 May 2026 update) list rare named items as one of several possible drops.

If you need a specific named item, a cache is a lottery. Targeted loot from the matching brand gives you control over the item, not over the cache. Caches that belong to earlier seasons have their own page, legacy season caches; patch notes also call the replayable storylines of past seasons Legacy Manhunts.

Thieves' Den

The Thieves' Den was the Dark Zone hideout of the Rogue loop at launch. Stealing other players' loot, hijacking supply drops or cutting ropes made you Rogue. After enough of those actions an entrance to a hidden instance appeared; inside were vendors available only to Rogue agents, and entering reset your Rogue levels. Title Update 3 let players switch weapons inside it.

It no longer exists in that form. Title Update 8, released with Warlords of New York on 2 March 2020, removed Grey Rogue status and the Thieves' Den vendor, and the Dark Zone kept normal vendors near its gates. Do not use older Thieves' Den guides for the current Dark Zone.

Fog of War

"Fog of war" does not mean unexplored map areas in this game. Two real things carry the name. First, Fog Of War Revisited, one of the directives added in Title Update 8 (March 2020). Directives are optional modifiers you switch on after finishing the Warlords of New York campaign, for missions and the open world; the more you activate, the harder the run and the better the reward. Fog Of War Revisited removes the mini map and the directional threat indicators. The original set of five was Ammo Hoarders, Cool Skills, Fog Of War Revisited, No Regen (armor does not regenerate after an encounter) and Special Ammo (enemy bullets can carry special effects). Directives are separate from Global Difficulty, the Normal, Hard, Challenging and Heroic setting that raises enemy damage, armor and veterancy everywhere. Second, the Fog of War Mask, a mask from the Future Initiative set whose blueprint belongs to the Regulus exotic projects that open after you clear the Operation Iron Horse raid for the first time.

Players searching for the term are usually after the mask, because it shows up as a project item. The modifier matters if you want to know why the minimap is blank in a challenge.

Story

Rogue Agent Kelso

Alani Kelso (callsign Cassandra) is a Division agent assigned to Washington D.C. who helped coordinate the recapture and later played a part in the Warlords of New York story. She became a rogue after she followed a trail to Aaron Keener and Theo Parnell and sided with them. The Manhunt storylines named Vanguard, First Rogue, Burden of Truth and Mutiny follow her; Mutiny ends with her being captured by a True Sons squad and rescued by a defector.

She is a story character in seasonal Manhunts, not a boss with a dedicated loot table. The Rogue Agent Encounter is something else: a level 40 activity that arrived in Warlords of New York in which a squad of Rogue Agents hunts you in the open world, at control points or in missions. The squad grows with your group size, from 2 agents solo to 5 for four players.

FAQ

What is the current season of The Division 2?

Year 8 Season 3, Red Horizon, started on 27 August 2026. The Year 8 Season 3.1 Title Update followed on 24 September 2026 with the Red Moon Rising event. Season 4 was teased at Gamescom 2026 and had not started on 1 November 2026.

Is SHD Tech a currency?

No. SHD Tech is the name for the Division's technology and gadgets, such as pod launchers, turrets and the SHD Network. Rewards that look like currencies, such as SHD Calibration, have their own names.

Does the Hive work in PvP?

The Reviver Hive does not work in Conflict mode. Other Hive variants are covered by the normal PvP damage and healing rules, which Ubisoft retunes separately, so check the current patch notes before building around one.

Can I still get into the Thieves' Den?

No. The Thieves' Den vendor and Grey Rogue status were removed in Title Update 8 on 2 March 2020. Any guide that tells you to unlock it describes the launch version.
