The Capacitor is an exotic assault rifle in The Division 2, a variant of the PDR-C added in Title Update 12. Its talent, Capacitance, links gun and skills: hitting enemies builds stacks of skill damage, and every skill tier you hold adds weapon damage. It is the usual exotic in skill-damage builds, where turrets and drones do much of the killing.

Key facts

Item type	Exotic assault rifle
Base weapon	PDR-C
Talent	Capacitance
Talent effect	Hits build stacks of skill damage; each skill tier adds weapon damage
Added in	Title Update 12
Obtained from	Exotic Caches, mission rewards, The Summit challenges; blueprint from Black Tusk Kill Squads

What Capacitance does

Each hit on an enemy adds a stack, and stacks decay slowly once you stop shooting. The bonus is skill damage, so the rifle works best next to autonomous skills such as the Striker Drone or Assault Turret that attack on their own while you shoot.

The second effect gives weapon damage for each skill tier, which helps finish weakened enemies. Without investment in critical or armor damage the rifle will not carry a build by itself, so pair it with other damage sources.

Capacitor FAQ

Where does the exotic normally come from?

Exotic caches and mission rewards, and in The Summit by completing five challenges in one ascent. The in-game blueprint comes from Black Tusk Kill Squads.

Which builds use it?

Skill-damage builds, for example the Skill Damage Build and Capacitor PvP builds sold on Onlyfarms, where the rifle supplies stacks for the skills.

Is the Capacitor strong on its own?

Its main job is to empower skills, not to score kills by itself. With little critical or armor damage on the build it will not carry a fight alone.
