Radiation Blocker: What Does It Mean in Dune: Awakening?
In Dune: Awakening, "radiation blocker" is a player term for anything that cuts the radiation you absorb in contaminated areas. There is no item with that exact name in the game's item lists. In practice it means two things: Radiation Suits, which provide most of the protection, and Iodine Pills (called Anti-Radiation Pills in some patch notes), a small extra layer that works together with a suit.
How Radiation Works
Radiation is an environmental hazard. While you stand in an irradiated area, a radiation meter fills up. The community wiki notes that once the bar passes about 75% it stops showing further progress and looks full, even though you can still absorb more before the lethal limit. Because you cannot see how close you are to death after that point, 75% is the moment to leave. Update 1.3 improved the warnings: the game now shows alerts when you enter or leave stronger radiation, displays the area's radiation level, and lists your mitigation stats in the status and inventory screens.
Areas come in several radiation levels, and the strongest level is found in radiation pools. The wiki's figures show how much gear matters: with no protection, a level 1 zone kills in well under two minutes, while a Mk4 suit stretches the same exposure to over a quarter of an hour. Radiation does not damage vehicles.
Stronger zones shrink your time dramatically. In the wiki's tables, a Mk4 suit gives about eight minutes in a level 2 zone, while a level 3 radiation pool can kill an unprotected character in around ten seconds and still allows only a few minutes even with the best suit and a pill. Treat level 3 areas as quick in-and-out trips.
Protection Options
- Radiation Suit Mk4: full-body garment crafted at a Wearables Fabricator, giving 90% radiation reduction.
- Radiation Suit Mk5 and Mk6: higher tiers with 92% and 93% reduction according to the community wiki.
- Tactical Radiation Suit: a unique suit added with the new Imperial Testing Stations in Update 1.3.
- Iodine Pill: crafted at a Survival Fabricator after unlocking it in research. It adds about 3% mitigation and helps your body clear radiation faster, but only meaningfully when combined with a suit.
The Iodine Pill recipe makes five pills per craft. Guides report that a Mk5 suit schematic can be looted from containers in Sheol. Exact unlock paths and recipes have changed between patches, so check your in-game research menu.
Where You'll Need It
- Sheol: an irradiated region in the south-west of the Hagga Basin and the place guides name as the source of Jasmium Crystals, which need an upgraded Cutteray (guides cite Mk4 or higher) to mine.
- Crashed ships: some wrecks leak radiation around their hulls.
- Imperial Testing Station #89: added in Update 1.3 with high radiation around its entrance.
Tips
- Craft at least a Mk4 suit before any planned trip into Sheol or a leaking wreck.
- Take an Iodine Pill when you enter, not after the meter is already high.
- Leave the moment the bar looks full; that is roughly 75%, and the bar no longer tells you how much margin is left.
- Repair your suit. Update 1.3 greatly reduced suit durability loss from damage, but a worn suit still needs maintenance.
- Bring an upgraded Cutteray if you are going to Sheol for Jasmium; with a low-tier tool the trip is wasted.

Is there an item called Radiation Blocker in Dune: Awakening?
Not in the current item lists we checked. The closest items are the Radiation Suits and the Iodine Pill.
Do Iodine Pills work without a suit?

Can I drive through radiation?
Your vehicle will not take radiation damage, but you as the driver still absorb radiation while inside the zone.
