Lord of Hatred is the second Diablo 4 expansion, out since 28 April 2026 (27 April in the Americas). Its campaign carries the main story to Skovos, the island cradle of the Askari and the original home of Lilith and Inarius, and closes with the final stand against Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred. A booster plays the whole chapter on your character, on either realm and in either mode, as set in the order form.

What the campaign covers

The chapter opens with whispers of a prophet who has landed in Temis, the gleaming capital of Skovos, while Mephisto's followers spread across Sanctuary.
Skovos is ruled by the Amazon Queen and the Oracle Queen; areas such as Philios, Skartara and Celestia belong to the region.
During the story you find the Horadric Cube, the crafting station that later stays in Temis for transmuting and creating gear, Talisman objects and socketables.

What opens after the finale

War Plans: the endgame system starts at the command table next to Tyrael in Temis once the campaign is done. A plan chains up to five activities, such as Helltides, the Undercity, Infernal Hordes and the Pit.
Skip Campaign: finishing the story on one character unlocks this option for your other characters, whatever their realm.
Temis as the endgame hub: the city holds the Artificer's Obelisk for the Pit and the Tower, a stash and the Horadric Cube.

What you get

Your character finishes the Lord of Hatred campaign on the realm and in the mode you pick.
All Chronicles of Creation (extra): the 30 hidden puzzles of Skovos. Each one solved gives a little experience, some Obols and, on the Eternal Realm, 10 Skovos Renown.

Does a new character have to play Vessel of Hatred first?

No. A new character can start straight at the Lord of Hatred chapter; a Vessel of Hatred start is offered as well.

Is the level cap of 70 part of the expansion?

No. The cap rose to 70 for all players with the update that launched alongside it, whether or not they own Lord of Hatred.
