Its seasonal questline brings back the soul of Deckard Cain, who warns of three dark wanderers, and sends you into the nightmares of their past to defeat echoes of the three Prime Evils. This lot completes that questline on your Seasonal Realm character, with Self-play or Piloted chosen in the order form.

Stages of the questline

The echo of Diablo, fought beneath Tristram Cathedral.
The echo of Baal at the Arreat Summit; this part of the questline includes a portal to the Worldstone Chamber.
The echo of Mephisto within the Durance of Hate.
Each victory grants a Splinter of Evil, and at the end you choose which Prime Evil to bear.

What opens at the end

Splinter of Terror (Diablo) changes Helltide and Infernal Hordes; its Iconic Power deals Fire damage.
Splinter of Destruction (Baal) changes the Undercity and Lair Bosses, with Cold damage.
Splinter of Hatred (Mephisto) changes the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons, with Physical damage.
All three also modify the Tree of Whispers. Each track holds eight activity modifiers and six upgrades to its Iconic Power, earned through reputation in the matching activities.

Note: the patch 3.2.3 notes (14 October 2026) state that finishing the questline on one character unlocks the Prime Evil Powers for every character in the same partition (Normal or Hardcore, Normal or Solo Self-Found).

Can I change the Splinter later?

Yes. Take another Splinter from one of the largest Waking Nightmares, the multi-level dungeons that replay the old showdowns with the Prime Evils.

Do the Splinter tracks need Lord of Hatred?

The modifiers and upgrades are set up through War Plans, a Lord of Hatred system. About 15% of the Season Rank objectives also need the expansion.
