Diablo 4 has had twelve Torment difficulties since the Season of Reckoning update of April 2026, up from four. Each one opens once a level 70 character clears a set tier of the Artificer's Pit, from tier 10 for Torment I to tier 100 for Torment XII. This lot unlocks Torment I, IV, VIII or XII on your character, on the Seasonal or Eternal Realm and in Softcore or Hardcore, with Self-play or Piloted chosen in the order form.

Pit tier behind each level

Torment I: Pit tier 10. Ancestral items start to drop.
Torment IV: Pit tier 25. Neathiron drops more often.
Torment VIII: Pit tier 60. Unique Charms drop more often.
Torment XII: Pit tier 100, the top of the Torment ladder.

How the run goes

The booster clears the Pit at the tier your target Torment level needs. A Pit run gives 15 minutes to kill enough monsters to summon its boss, and the boss must fall before the timer runs out.
A cleared tier also opens the next Pit tiers, which go up to 150.

What the higher levels add

Patch 3.2.1 raised bonus experience to 1700% at Torment XII, with 1300% at Torment X and 1500% at Torment XI.
Since the same patch, Elite enemies in Torment X and above drop many more Gem Fragments and have a higher chance to drop a Royal Gem.
In Season 15 the largest Waking Nightmares also appear as pinnacle Capstone dungeons from Torment 10.
Infernal Compasses start to drop in Torment difficulties, and patch 3.2.1 raised Legendary drop rates in Torment I to V.

Normal, Hard, Expert and Penitent. Since patch 3.2.1, Expert and Penitent open after the Prologue instead of after the campaign.
