Sigil Powder is the Occultist's material in Diablo 4: it crafts the Nightmare Sigils that turn a dungeon into a Nightmare Dungeon, and it buys Undercity Tributes and Infernal Horde Compasses. Patch 3.2.1, which started Season 15, made both of those crafts cheaper and raised the Powder you get back from salvaging rarer sigils and tributes, up to 2,500 for a Mythic Tribute.

What Sigil Powder is spent on

Nightmare Sigils: crafted at the Occultist to open Nightmare Dungeons. War Plans can also generate a Sigil on the fly when your chain needs one.
Random Magic Tribute: 100 Powder, down from 200.
Infernal Horde Compass: 500 Powder, down from 666.

Salvage returns in Season 15

Nightmare Dungeon Sigil: 20 Powder. Escalation Sigil: 100.
Infernal Horde Compass: 100. Magic Tribute: 20. Rare Tribute: 100.
Legendary Tribute: 500. Mythic Tribute: 2,500. Before patch 3.2.1 each of these gave 25.
Escalation Sigils can be salvaged since patch 3.1.

Where Powder drops

From level 15 it comes from Tree of Whispers caches, Local Events, Elite monsters and Helltide Tortured Gifts, on top of what salvaging sigils returns at the Occultist.

What you get

Powder: a slider from 1,000 to 50,000 in steps of 1,000.
The lot has no realm or mode option, so the character is confirmed with the manager in live chat or Discord after payment.

Requirements

A character of level 15 or higher, the level from which Sigil Powder drops.

Sigil Powder FAQ

Do War Plans make Sigils unnecessary?

Not fully. A War Plan creates the Sigil for a Nightmare Dungeon step when you have none, while your own Sigils, Tributes and Compasses still cost Powder.

Why do Whisper caches give Powder?

Patch 2.2.0 (Season 8, April 2025) took Nightmare Sigils out of the caches and gave them a high chance to contain Sigil Powder instead.
