How the run goes

Whispers are random tasks on the world map. Small ones give 1 Grim Favor, medium ones 3 and large ones 5.
Large Whispers ask for a dungeon, a Lair Boss, a Pit or Undercity clear, a World Boss or the Seething Abomination in a PvP area.
Every hour 11 sets of Whispers spawn, two of them inside Helltide; Favors above 10 carry over to the next turn-in.

Loot and rewards

A turn-in gives experience and a choice of three Collections: gear for one slot, or materials such as Gold, Gem Fragments, Keys, Primordial Dust or Salvage. Greater and Ancestral Collections can appear.
Patch 3.2.1 made Gold Caches about three times larger: at Torment XII one now holds about 100 million Gold, up from about 35 million.
Since the same patch Whisper Caches give 4-6 Experience Orbs, plus 2-4 more from Torment X, and Gem Caches hold a Royal or Grand Gem.

The Tree in Season 15

All three Splinters of Evil modify the Tree of Whispers. Diablo's track, for example, makes Corrupted Roots appear more often in Whisper Caches.
A Corrupted Root planted in a zone returns that zone's resource, such as Forgotten Souls in Hawezar or Volatile Dust in Skovos.

Requirements

The Diablo 4 campaign completed: Whispers of the Dead open after the story.
For the Unlock Torment IV extra: a level 70 character, since Torment IV opens at Pit tier 25.
